Consistency Mayn yeah a gearbox can whine if it has straight cut gears and so will certain parts inside the engine itself for instance straight cut gears on the crank-to-cam gears on an aircooled vw bug will sound like a supercharger

Lorenzo Clara I can't man unfortunately it's just how these camera mics work, it's quieter when your behind it as it only uses the front mic when recording in 2 channel. I can get an external mic, I've got a Rode video mic pro but it's directional too, super quiet behind it. I normally pump the audio gain +4 when I'm talking behind
u can get a small mixer and a cheap lavalier mic. use the lavalier on you, rode on the content, both into the mixer, feed that to the cam. Problem solved, and not too expensive ;)

Yep. A few different ways to achieve that and it would help a lot. As would a little less swinging of the camera around - the camera doesn't need to point towards John every time he says something, for instance. Otherwise great car, engaging video.

My favourite ever mini engine is the 1275. A turbocharged 1275 is an absolute beast
Mental car, mental driver. At 0:17 overtaking on a bend with a large truck obscuring the visibility is not a smart move.
Camera is low and centred, being on the right and side and at eye level probably gave enough visibility to know nothing was coming.

I saw a super light Mini at a hill climb stand on its nose when breaking hard. The driver was white faced at the end of his run! I think that he had put all the weight on the front for best traction and completely forgotten that for braking you need weight at the back.

A great example of power to weight done well.
Back in the day I ran a supercharged Mini, the engine was a racy 1400 with low compression, the supercharger was a Shorroks, I put twin radiators on it and doubled up on the diaphragm spring in the clutch to stop the slip, I built the gearbox with the highest ratio final drive available and put 13" wheels on it with 185/70 tyres, even with the high gearing on 25lb boost and a coldish engine it would spin the wheels on a dry road in 4th gear. I got fed up with the constant final drive pinion failures in the end and sold the engine without the supercharger to Patric Watts was at Woolwich College in South London with me and who had a hot mini at the time, he went on to be compete in the British Touring Car Championship, happy days..

True, but ferraris aren't for the same thing as this. Most of them are grand tourers, and when they make a purpose built track car, like the FXX, they are really fast.
You cant smoke a ferrari with this, get real, 140hp for hal a ton is 280 for a ton, do you see any 280hp per ton ferraria nowdays? Besides all of them have tc abs lsd and so on, get real.
a small, 1 ton ferrari, with a 400+ hp 3Litre i6 would be sweet now that I think about it.

But that was VERY "different" when it came to "power"....the slightest incline meant changing down thru the box and the thing quickly ran out of puff. 0-60mph probably took around 5 or 10 minutes....i gave up counting!!
