Hi, I love watching your journey .I can still remember building my first home. i was 21 years old .then built my next house at 58 years old.I told my self never again building again.I think i lied to my self I'm getting ready to build again and im 60 years old.I swear this is my last build.And I cant wait to get started.just waiting to close on my last property.I am not a Carpenter by trade far from it.But ive learned alot on my other builds and what not.good luck in your Journey. 😊

I don’t know if you have a firearm, and frankly it’s none of my business. But with bears roaming around and just you and your pup it’s good to have. You’re doing a great job and don’t fret if it takes you a few days longer than you first thought.

I’m been building my log cabin for two years you are doing a great job , for the screws there are not great. They all would break after a while when I built my balcony last November I took out some screws from the patio and they were all broken.
Getting it done! So impressed to see such progress made with great enthusiasm. If your posts aren't deep, consider some diagonal bracing. Having built a few houses, I noticed some of the comments here are idealist or hindsight, but a keep it simple, fast, efficient, buget build is fantastic.
are you getting professional help on the supports, the whole structure moves when you hit those blocks.. but it looks great, Good work, I would put sono tubes in . 4x4 look too flimsy.. good luck tho..

Maybe watch some building videos. You should have staggered the plywood on the floors and maybe a pouch for your screws and some glue would have helped. Keep going and always build smarter .

I put in a new floor and joist ( pressure treated) in a 50 year old cabin in Trapper creek AK. Even with concrete pads it still moves,but the mud and clay is no longer coming up through the floor very satisfying. I’m thinking you should have put gravel around that well pipe not sure if it will silt up your well pump ?
Great job.... Congrats on the progress! Have you given any thought as to installing any strapping for the floor joist to the posts? I'm not too sure I would rely on the lag screws only in that climate. And..... most definitely keep a side arm handy, because.... Alaska.

But my question is once you have the off-grid cabin built and have moved into it, what do you imagine your lifestyle to be like? And how will you be supporting yourself financially? That would be an interesting video topic if you have not addressed it already.
Great job on cabin and homestead. But hope you have a neighbor or someone to help put walls up and roof. That's at least 2 person job.... Also what kind of dog you have? Part Lab?? Keep up great work.

Actually bear spray is more effective in protecting yourself from a bear when compared to a gun.

laterally brace your underframe support posts, that will take are of the sway. def brace them up before you build the walls n roof.
