  • I install the baffled oil catch can system for Ford Fiesta ST 180 from Mishimoto!
    I go over the parts included and the steps required to install this system which is an excellent part to add for the Ford Fiesta ST to avoid unwanted carbon build up on valves. This is especially an issue if you have or plan to upgrade your Fiesta ST for more power!
    Air that build up in the crank case is recycled directly back into the intake manifold but this air can often have unwanted oil vapour and particles in it which will cause carbon build up over time which will reduce power so this system takes care of this!
    It also looks sweet in the engine bay and is made of all very high quality materials including multi layer silicone hoses and a bronze filter!

    Hi Adam, it's a good bit of kit. I've had mine for just over a year and it's surprising how much it catches. Empty every 1200 mls or so. Apparently Mountune are developing a breather plate assembly for the fiesta ST similar to the one they've done for the focus rs.

    Ive installed mine a few weeks ago and have since put the car in storage for winter ( i live in canada with temps reaching -40C at times), i will likely remove it for winter storage as a precaution, but, winter driving seems to bring up some conflicts in optinion, mainly on frozen bronze filters which could cause damage to the crankcase on start up. Im thinking of removing it during the winter in the future when i plan on driving the car during the winter. Is this fine, or am i over reacting and its fine to keep it i the winter and i should just empty it out more often. Does Mishimot have any reccomendations? I have a 2017 fiesta st.

    Did those silicone hoses come with the kit? The kit I ordered came with standard rubber hoses and can not stand the cheap look

    Do you have to take the light assembly out to drain the catch can?

    • @AdamRainey
      @AdamRainey  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi James, you do yes but you can buy a separate draining kit that attaches and means you can drain more easily without removing the light as far as I know. Cheers!

    Was the catch can quite difficult to slot into the circular shape of the top bracket after the hoses are slotted in coz there isn't much movement.
    Also are these red hoses safe t be touching the engine block?

    • @AdamRainey
      @AdamRainey  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea it was a bit of a pain but once it is in place then it never needs to come out again so it is worth the hassle. Yea they are fine to be touching, I checked after 1k of driving and there is no ill-effects - they look as good as day 1

      I know Mishimoto are known for their quality products but i think if only they could redesign the bracket because there is alot of space unused behind the headlight.

    Daft questions, I'm looking at installing one of these and just wondering if you had to inform your insurance and does it void your ford warranty. Other than that great vids mate I will be using this to install mine 👍

    • @AdamRainey
      @AdamRainey  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      fandaz 11 It is up to you if you want to inform your insurer. Since would say it is good practice to inform them of anything you do. They shouldn't have issue with it as it is not a performance mod as such, it is a means of protecting your engine. For warranty, I am still within warranty and had my car in with Ford 2 days ago and they had no issue with it. Generally speaking, you would only have warranty issues if you did something that then caused an issue you tried to do a warranty claim for

    Did you have this installed for a long time? Any issues ?

    • @AdamRainey
      @AdamRainey  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, yea I had it on for a good number of months and it was good in the sense that if defo caught a bunch of dirty oil. The only issue I had was that the plastic barb connectors that screw into the can both came loose under vibration over time so after maybe 3 months i could hear this weird hissing noise and found that it was basically blowing oily air out. I would suggest using something to lock the threads and/or go to a hardware store and buy better barb connectors

    • @AdamRainey
      @AdamRainey  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They do seem to come pretty tight from factory. I can't remember if i just man handled it in mid air or if i used a vice initially - carefully secure the top (so upside down) in a vice with something either side to protect it. Then u can use both hands and with all ur might give it a sudden jolt. It will come loose eventually :)
