I agree! I've lived in S. Padre for 3 years, and it's beautiful. I've lived in Corpus, Ingleside on the Bay, Rockport and think that S. Padre's crystal clear water and light sand with lots of surf shops and restaurants all down beachside. Queen Isabella Pkwy. is a 5 minute bridge to paradise. Rockport is beautiful, though, but IMO, S. Padre is #1.

I know. I went last summer and it's the best beach I've ever been too. It may not have a carnival or boardwalk like Santa Cruz CA, but at least the water isn't freezing cold and you can see a lot of crabs and fish.
I like the vibes of the people. All the flags... If your car gets stuck in soft sand, there's always some redneck and/or Mexican there to help push you out in a jiffy. It's also nice that there's not a ton of homeless drug addicts living on the beachside like in some states.
One summer years ago at South Padre, my dad didn’t want to be around too many people so we drove aways down the beach. My brother and I were having a blast! A couple of hrs later we were going to have lunch and realized the keys were locked in the car 🤦🏽♀️. Lol it was a looooong walk to the rangers tower! Talk about the walk of shame.
Texas has great beaches. South Padre and Rockport have clear water with nice sand. Galveston gets a bad rap because the water can get dark due to the silt run off from the Mississippi River (some 350 miles away) which is brought by currents, but it's not dirty. A lot of times, it clears up. Never the less, it's a great town and nothing beats a day at the beach with the sound of waves and the ocean breeze. Enough with "oh but these other beaches in other places are better", this is a list of Texas beaches.

I'm from MS. Texas beaches aren't great. I stumbled across this video & said I'd check it out being that I live in Texas. I always hear about padre but if I'm gonna drive 8-9 hours I would just go ahead & go to Pensacola from ft worth. MS beaches are a tad better than TX beaches. Pensacola Beach, Clearwater Beach in Florida are 2 of the best beaches on the east cost. Cali has a bunch of great beaches to.
Exactly South Padre is perfect because of the water because u can see where ur stepping on or in the water because there's some shells and fish in the water plus this water also has waves so u can surf not just that but u can see big boats far off the coast passing by
I would imagine that there is probably more coastline in Texas than any other of the contiguous states. Texas is on my very short list of states that I am considering moving to from the Peoples Republic Of Maryland after my children graduate.

I would put South Padre higher on the list because of it being the only spot I know of in the Texas coast with blue water beaches. I haven't been in a while though and hope it hasn't gotten polluted.
Well if your in the Corpus Christi area you have more access to more miles of beaches anywhere .Within an hours drive you have the Rockport beach,Port Aransas beach,Mustang Island,Mustang Island State park,Padre Island,county parks on Padre or Padre Island National Seashore where you have 60 miles of no commercial buildings on it,will need a 4 wheel drive after the first 25 miles,one more beach is San Jose Island north of Port A only accessible by boat ,your own or a commercial one that makes 4 trips a day to it fro Port A.
When I saw SPI at TEN I was like 😐. I grew up visiting many of these beaches. And I've lived in SPI for almost a decade. SPI is the best of them all hands down. Oh, and that wasn't an aerial of Boca Chica. That was like the last 10ft of it. That aerial was of the Rio Grande spilling into the Gulf. And it's not 8mi long. It's about 3mi long.

Locals in Brazoria County usually won't go to Surfside Beach, they travel east along CR 257 (Bluewater Highway) until they are well out of the Village of Surfside where they access the county beach which is between Surfside and San Luis pass.
my favorite beaches anywhere are located in the panhandle of FL. Panama City Beach has the whitest , softest sand i have ever seen and the water is crystal clear .
As far as the brown waters, its sediment from the Mississippi river still swirling west in the current, the muddy Trinity (Galveston bay) and Brazos (near Surfside) rivers don't help.
Port Aransas is pretty much the same beach as Mustang Island…. You literally pass mustang island state park about 15 minutes outside of Port A when coming through Corpus.
I love Texas and I was very surprised when I heard they have beaches. Makes absolute sense when you see the picture of Texas on the map though. Though it was neat to discover beaches in Texas (because that's not the first thing many think of when they think of Texas), it wasn't necessarily my type of beaching. Definitely unique seeing so many cars on the sand of the beaches. You don't see that all the time, definitely set it apart from many other beaches I've been to around the world.
California beaches are pretty for sure, but personally being from CA and growing up in OC, the beaches are getting crowded and dirty. I will take any of these beaches any day like any loving beach person would.
We just took the ferry to Crystal Beach for the first time. It was neat to park on the beach. All the peoples flags were cool... It's a great beach for families, but there's also a lot of people who like to party around there if you're into that.

Is galveston dirty with dirt or chemicals? Moving to the texas gulf coast in a few years from Wyoming and swimming is something I enjoy doing and am considering that in the decision of where I will live. Galveston is the top of my list tn so this might change that.

Galveston is fun! My kids loved the beaches there! The water is so warm and comfortable! The way you can walk so far in the water away from the shore and the water remains shallow... The waves are kinda perfect too for just floating around and having fun in the water. Kids also loved finding Hermit Crabs so easily. Just have to watch out for those darn jellyfish.
I live on Crystal Beach, its popular because it's a hang out place for tourists,dont get me wrong it's a great place to live but holidays are terrifying,traffic is always bad,stores are overcrowded, just going to the Post office is a journey and let's face it. Galveston is by far a better gulf coast city than corpus, technically corpus is not on the coast anyway, it sits next to Corpus Christi bay Galveston and port A are on the gulf it’s self

Probably the most important thing is the timing of when you visit a beach in Texas. The same beach can be a madhouse or quiet and peaceful.

I live in Hawaii, we too have great beaches. Camped out on Padre Island once and lost a pint of blood to the skeeters.
Crystal Beach is our go to every year.

I live on Crystal Beach, its popular because it's a hang out place for tourists,dont get me wrong it's a great place to live but holidays are terrifying,traffic is always bad,stores are overcrowded, just going to the Post office is a journey and let's face it. The rumors are. Its lawless so we have good tourists and bad tourist

Galveston is by far a better gulf coast city than corpus, technically corpus is not on the coast anyway, it sits next to Corpus Christi bay

@@jackhuffman9313 Corpus is 30 min.drive from down town to Port A,and the city limits of Corpus is all the way to Port A and to Bob Hall pier on Padre so it is on the beach.

dont go to crystal beach on jeep topless weekend it gets crazy that weekend and packed
i've traveled to 22 different states and so far FLORIDA BEACHES are the best. i live in texas now and look forward to visiting those beaches as well.

Jellyfish are atracted to the dark sediment rich waters, as they hunt small creatures that feed on the minerals.
