Thank you very much for sharing this! I have never heard of the paraffin wax application prior to cork grease and the tape trick is brilliant! thanks to you!! : )
Thanks sooo much for posting this video! The instructions were very clear. Actually quite surprised how easy it was to do myself. All the best! Colin 😀
Neat job. Your such a patient person. It would be interesting to do your story because it isn't a common profession (probably many wouldn't even know of it).what initially brought your attention to this, how've you started etc. thanks from Australia
I'm also a Parsnips and Parsimony subscriber. I have great respect for your craft! Please tell us how you came to have an interest and gain the knowledge for what you do! I grew up playing the flute throughout school. Sadly I no longer have one.
Really interesting . Do you only repair all types of instruments? I have a trombone (it was my Dad's and it's over 60 years old.) Are these worth repairing? I heard that there isn't much interest in trombones anymore. What do you think?
I repair all brass and woodwind instruments. Trombones have been very popular for the past few years. In fact, I am running low on them. A 60 year old trombone may or may not be worth repairing. It just depends on the condition.
I don't think there's anything wrong with it. It hasn't been out of the case since the 1950s. Dad had requested that I donate it to a school district but if it's worthless, I don't want to do that. If I were to email a picture of it, long with the makers name could you tell me if it's junk or???
I know you are very busy, but if you could share a video teaching how you regulate the linked keys on the saxophone (i.e. G#, Bb, A, bis), it would be very helpful, because I am currently wrestling with getting these keys perfectly synchronized. I am getting there, but it is taking a long time and there must be a better way that I'm not aware of. : )
That can be a little tricky, but it is very do-able for anyone who has a little mechanical ability. I will try to get a video on soon, but it will probably be another week or more before I can do that. Thank you for watching and feel free to ask any questions and make any more suggestions about videos you would like to see.
I have no need for this but I'm a Parsnips and Parsimony subscriber and your vlog wasn't up yet LOL. I must say you did a great job. Very easy to follow and understand.
Excellent tutorial Art, so clear and easy to understand. I don't actually play a musical instrument but this was really interesting to watch. Wishing you and your family many blessings with all of your various projects x
There was something very satisfying about watching Art put the cork on the saxophone neck. Good job, Art!
Laura's Last Ditch Vintage Kitchenwares I was thinking the same thing and he isn't even my brother lol. . . Great job Art!
Thanks for this. All of my local techs have moved away so I'm goin to try this one by myself. Your video made the most sense of any.
Kind of interesting to see things that are not in your daily life. Thanks for sharing your passion. 😊
Great tutorial. Clear and detailed!
what a great tip to use the tenor piece as a guide!

Very interesting, you make it seem easy but I'm sure that cork can try your patience at time.
Its fucking hard, I had run out of patience then threw it
New desk carpet looks good!

You didn't address the different lengths to allow for the conical shape of the neck - this is reallly important and I'm not clear on this
lol Gaylord ruler where did this come from
I think it came from an auction that I went to at a school that closed down.
@@TheBrassandWoodwindShop oof ok

Looks like hard work
I agree. I was watching a guitar repair video yesterday and I don't know what he was talking about. These videos are explained extremely well.

I need to buy *Cork Cement, i'm from vietnam...help me please
Can you please tell me the name of the glue to stick it
It is contact cement. You can get it from Ferree's Tools or your local hardware store.
awesome! I love the trick with the masking tape! :)
iv'e been told that the brass is a layer of paint on the metal and that using flame will leave carbon stains inside the neck... help
It sometimes does leave some marks, but they are easy to clean with a cloth and a flute cleaning rod.
What cane of glue can I use?
contact cement or cork cement
what is a good cork to use, what suppiers, also i heard some rumours of neoprene cork for necks thanks
Most band instrument suppliers have good sheet cork. I get mine from Allied or Ferree's Tools.
You can look up Ferree's at ferreestoolsinc.com
