    Fantastic video. Great level of detail. Thanks a million! I just followed your instructions and replaced mine today. I will add that I found a much easier way to unhook the connector. After your method just wouldn't work for me, I played around with the much more accessible one at the top front of the engine and found a better way. If you take a very small flat blade screwdriver with narrow blade (no more than 4" long and 1/16" wide) and push it into the slot of the connector where the latch is, it will lift the latch and the connector will pull apart easily. Once I discovered and tested that method a few times, I was then able to use that method pretty easily under the car, needing only one hand. Hope that helps others who need to do this later!

    Great tip on using the zip ties, I did that after seeing your video. But the old sensor, that thing was a beast to get out. I had to cut off most of it using a sawzall and in the process it almost burned out my sawzall and then when I got an impact 7/8 socket on there, I still had to work like hell to get it off there. Looking at the original, it almost looks like it was cross threaded in the factory, so I'm having fun putting the new one in. This is going to take more time then it should.

    Yup replaced bank 2...and now bank 1😮 looks even more painful.
    Actually bank 1 was easy but the 2 oil solenoids vvt things were hard for big hands...but I did it 😊
    But thanks for the suggestion on how to unhook plug.

    Lee, you lucked out at the low cost you paid. We had the CA one and its replacement is costing $544! Lucky both sensors weren't bad.

    • @GaiaMiranda
      @GaiaMiranda 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It ended up one year later with the other sensor going and almost costing as much. Terrible. Even though the car was a 2001 and always garage stored AND only had 40,000 both sensors were shot.

    Found many contradicting comments on the correct sensor to assign to code P1155. This is truly the only way to verify which sensor is the actual culprit. There is some good analysis but very few answer the question and nothing beats the actual test.

      Thank you for watching and the comment. Yes, the actual test will definitely confirm if the part is bad. Please subscribe and have a nice day.

    PS can this affect gas mileage?

  • @abdullahjib
    @abdullahjib 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thanks for the video. I have been searching for a way to change that sensor as well for a few days. Tired a number of times but its just so hard to reach. I wonder what the "official" way of doing this is? Is there anything that can be taken off to provide better access? How do the dealers do it?
    However your method makes sense. I guess that one person can be on top and one can pull the wire from the bottom to make this slightly easier. But don't do this on a jack or jack stands. I am using ramps to lift the front up.

    Great video! I have the P1135 code on my 2002 Toyota 4Runner two wheel drive. I don't know if I missed it, but i have a 50 states emissions. Is it a 02 sensor or AF sensor or do they have both? I have seen two for this model, the upstream and downstream. Thanks in advance

      Thank you for the comment. My car is also 50 state emissions. It is an AF sensor. I suggest to buy Genuine OEM. Call dealer parts dept. to confirm part and #. Please subscribe and have a nice day.

    What is the brand for the removal tool that you used on this project? It looked sturdy whereas on Amazon I see comments on some of the tools that broke easily. Did you have to spray anything to help loosen it up?

    • @FixItAngel
      @FixItAngel  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello, It's a Snap-On brand. Expensive but well worth it. You can spray some penetrant just to help remove it but I didn't.

    My Highlander isn't shifting into overdrive, and I'm getting a P1135 error. I've read that a bad sensor can prevent the transmission from shifting to o/d. Are you aware of this issue?

    Hi I have a 2000 toyota solara sle
    V6 3.0 liter. I need help I got code per 50 which I know is bank 2 sensor 1. Only thing I'm not sure where it's located a lot of forums seem to say that it's located in the same place as this video is showing. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

      Hello, when you open the hood, look at the exhaust manifold and that is the sensor on it. The forums are wrong. Bank 1 is firewall side and bank 2 is in front of the vehicle. Welcome and have a nice day. Please go to my blog. lasvegasautoinsider.blogspot.com/2014/03/bank-2-sensor-1-location-2000-solara-v6.html

    i got mixed up with A/F sensor and o2 sensor, Oxygen sensor? can you explain that? and are they the same part because they look the same.

    • @abdullahjib
      @abdullahjib 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Air Fuel sensor is another name for Upstream Oxygen sensors which are basically before the catalytic converter. The downstream or the ones that come after the CAT are called Oxygen sensors. Hope that helps.

      @FixItAngel  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fix It Angel idk which came first, they ran it at the auto part place. I had to drive super slow to get there to have it checked. I didn't wanna push it and burn a valve or piston but these are the codes P0125 - insufficient coolant temp for close loop fuel control
      P0171 - System too Lean Bank 1
      P0172 - system too Rich Bank 1
      P0300 - Random/Multiple cylinder Misfires Detected
      P1133 - Air/Fuel ratio sensor Circuit Malfunction Bank 1 Sensor 1
      P1135 - Air/Fuel ratio sensor heater circuit malfunction bank 1 Sensor 1
      P1305 - ignition circuit malfunction bank 2 no 2
      P1315 - same as previous bank 4 no 4
      P1325 - same as previous bank 6 no 6

    I have code P1135 but I heard the part varies by the type of emissions. If it's 50 states then it's the O2 sensor. But if it's CA emissions it's the AF sensor. Can someone give advice on this? Dealer wants $116 to be sure and I would rather avoid that.

    • @FixItAngel
      @FixItAngel  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      the dealer parts department will ask your vehicle vin#, they will direct you to the right part. It is either called an O2 sensor or AF sensor depending what emissions and parts dept will know that.

    • @RetroFuseable
      @RetroFuseable 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      88bmyvegas Unfortunately the dealer I got the truck from will not help. I offered a VIN number but they said I have to bring it in to put on their computer for $116. I think it's time to call a different dealer.

    • @FixItAngel
      @FixItAngel  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes, do that. they just want to lure you in and get money just to tell you the sensor is bad. good luck and have a nice day.
