Clippers can make it work they did the same with Luke Kennard as well. Kennard is part of the bench unit and their defense suffers a bit but for the most part in the playoffs because they play small ball, Kennard gets scrammed switched everytime because the clippers have long wings in Marcus Morris, PG, kawhi, Batum, Terrance Mann, etc and they are fast enough to recover to their man to make the defensive scheme work
The clippers aren’t fixing anybody they’re busy looking what ex raptors players they can pick up. Forever trying to recreate the Kawhi 2019 championship team 😂

Great analysis , i was wondering why no one was talking about him , but i do feel at this point he needs to go somewhere else he hasn't made any progress since last season
Great video. Your observations are spot on. Professional sports are brutal when it comes to scouting. Eventually, your opponent figures you out and if you do not have another gear you are cooked. Making Duncan work on defense and take more contested shots is his kryptonite. He also regressed to the mean as well
Strus took his role as a spot up shooter last season with marginally better defense and better finishing at the rim. Duncan fouls a lot and he makes the Heat defense too suspect if Tyler is also on the floor.
Heat fan here. Rooting for Dunc, but he excelled because he is a guy that makes shots on the run. Bam and Duncan had a 2-man game that consisted of dribble hand offs and DR running to his spot. When Lowery and Tucker joined the team, they ran the 2-man game and DR did a lot of standing around. He was doing more spot up shooting which isn't what the Heat developed him to do. Shooters like him don't do well standing around. We probably won't trade him unless we get a good opportunity. But, if he does get traded he'll still have an issue because he is the most deadly when he's in transition and running off pin downs and DHF. If a team uses him as a spot up or catch in shoot, he might still struggle.
You can see it in the most recent games. When Bam and Duncan run that 2 man game, it either ends up in bam getting a dunk/shot at the rim or Duncan hitting a 3 or at least getting a good look. As soon as Miami started using him differently because they felt like he was "limiting" bam, his stats dropped. I obviously don't want bam to just sit there and spam DHO's with Duncan all game. But it's clear that, that is when Duncan is at his best and usually hitting his shots, when he's shooting it on the run off a pindown screen or a DHO. He's better on the move than a set shot for some reason. Either way I think Duncan is also very underrated passer especially when he's in that 2 man game with Bam, it feels like he's one of the few players on the team that is able to hit bam perfectly in his spots and get him really good looks because he attracts so much attention due to his threat of making the 3. Strus draws some of that attention but it feels like he rarely hits bam on those looks. Strus was swapped in because he could get a stop or two, but right now it feels like he still gets hunted just the same as Dunc and dude can't make a shot either atm. Duncan has actually stepped up as of late and made some timely shots and played solid minutes for us.
@@CM200.1 Yup. With so many guys out, DR has gotten a chance to get some minutes. And since Kyle is out too we're going back to doing what we were used to doing with the 2-man game. Dunc's doing better with his opportunity but still not as automatic as in years past. May be because he's been out of the rotation. I'm hoping he works his way back in. Strus is a surprise, though. The benefit to him was that he was a knock down shooter that could put it on the floor if needed. Also not as big of a liability on defense as DR. But he's been missing shots that made last year. Teams have been playing him differently but he is still getting plenty of good looks. Just not falling.
If he knew he can't defend he should have just practice becoming more efficient. Even if you're bad at something if you show hustle and do the small things it accumulates to favor your team.
I think that Duncan Robinson will most certainly make a comeback. He just needs to be in the right team, and get free looks. Right now, he has to work his ass off to get an open shot - running through screens with someone breathing down his neck...

Everybody was 99 overall in that bubble but when the crowds around people go back in the shell👀 and it goes to show how many “professional athletes” get lost in the sauce and don’t work on their craft no more
I don't really watch the heat much this season but didn't his downfall start because they moved Herro to the starting spot and Robinson to the bench? I could be behind but this is from what I last remember
I still believe he can turn it around given more minutes, his defense still isn’t good but it’s definitely better these last few games and his shot is there if he can just overcome his nerves
It couldn't hurt for him to learn to play better defense too. I mean, even on a top 10 defensive team, he'd be a liability and might end up riding the bench again after a season or two. Seems like we might have a cycle.
It's unfortunate that his situation has gotten to this, there isn't a doubt that Duncan Robinson can shoot the ball. If anything, maybe taking a page out of Dejounte Murray's podcast appearance about Kawhi telling him that Defense gets you on the court. NBA teams know the scout, and after having shooting seasons like he's had previously, the coverage would be alot more magnified. Maybe look at evolving his game or adding to his 'bag'.... But I think the perfect situation for him is to be on teams that need shooters. Keeping his role simple, expect him to make shots, and look to be able to be a great team defender first, and then grow as an individual defender. Ultimately it's up to him to want to do those things, he has good defensive teammates like Jimmy Butler and Victor Oladipo that he could learn from if he's willing. Hoping he works through it.
The problem with shooters like Robinson is that they are limited. People like Dame, Harden or even Herro can pull up from any range off the dribble and hit the shot. Robinson needs to get wide open catch and shoot opportunities right at the three point line.
I just don’t see why players growing up don’t focus on defense AND offense. We have players like Dunk who can shoot lights out and players like Dort who cant shoot to save his life. It baffles me.
Personally, I think the Heat is overplaying and overrating defense entirely. Yes, Strus is better defensively and their whole defensive scheme is amazing but it is not sustainable and i think it takes a lot of mental stress sustain which is why their defense is prone to collapsing entirely at long stretches, its a different kind of fatigue. However, I still think that their offense runs faster and more natural when Robinson is on the floor. Also, contrary to what most ppl think, Robinson is not a defensive liability at all. I think, the Heat made a mistake on moving Robinson to the bench.

It's a surprising turn of events that makes simple sense. Thanks for crystalizing into answers the questions surrounding the 'disappearance 'of Duncan R. No D, no play.
But most guys don't play defense.
@@keithjoseph128 that’s a super causal take lol. All good teams in the NBA rn play good defence. Boston, Milwaukee, Memphis, Denver, New Orleans
@@ruloez5587 actually it's the total opposite of casual. Compared to the rest of the league, two of those teams play "good" defense. Overall this league is absolutely pathetic defensively. Hell, Rudy Gobert "won" dpoy, Green can guard "five positions", those alone tell you how pathetic the league is.
@@ruloez5587 and you're an absolute piece of Steven A for calling someone casual and then say New Orleans plays good defense.
Incredible video!
defensive rating:
duncan robinson 115.3
joe harris 114.9
joe ingle 113.8
steph 112.6
klay 115.5
luke kennard 112.2
malcolm brogdon 114.0
Damion Lee 114.2
donovan mitchell 108.4
demar derozon 113.8
zack lavin 113.4
duncan robinson's defense is not good... but it's also not that bad compared to most other shooters.
It’s awful. He’s the second tallest guy on the list at 6’7 and is the worst defender
He's a clear fit for both LA teams but that contract is abysmal to be even considered for a trade.
Id love to see him in the Warriors off the bench
You must hate the Warriors
Funny how you posted this and then his 4th quarter helped us win today! Nice motivation ;)
Even if he never plays another minute in the NBA his career is still a W. People forget he only played one year at Michigan, before that he was at lansing community college. The fact he made it this far and got paid is a success.
just grab the bag and run EZ money!
That’s incredible, too bad the kids these days only see the “bag”. All the Money in the world doesn’t fill the grave, it will change many hands but the glory of playing in the NBA lives forever and can never be taken away!
not a "W" for the team that signed him lol
@@v1Katarina lol not his problem
@@yaquvyhardson3768 never said it was, he did a great job. but it hurts the team
Your videos are accurate the best 👍
I really hope Ducan can turn it around, I´m a big fan of him. His defence is really bad, but I still root for him!
he is
Clippers can make it work they did the same with Luke Kennard as well.
Bruh Luke Kennard is solid even on the Pistons. Don’t compare a scrub like Duncan Robinson to him
@@jeju6892 exactly kennard is the all time point leader in Ohio history and he can dribble Duncan is a d3 player who tricked the system
Same old story! Whiteboys can’t play defense! Don’t give em those big contracts!
Right now I’ll take Luke Kennard over Duncan Robinson
Money definitely changed him
Next: Jordan Poole
A big big contract for a regular dude. Warriors management so enamored to find there next Steph Curry. But Steph will be One of One
Like
MJ
LBJ
Kobe
Etc.
Good for him he already have the bag.
Poole is still a million times more skilled than Duncan Robinson 😂😂😂 just because they’re both all offense and no defense, doesn’t mean it’s a fair comparison imo. Poole’s way more comparable to Herro lol Davis Bertans is just a “regular dude” who you could better compare to Duncan Robinson.
dude is playing like their teamleader knocked him out at the beginning of the season.
..oh wait, that actually happened.
@@Simon_Sez so i re phrase it. Above regular dude 😂
@@killuazoldyk623 lol fair enough
@@Simon_Sez atleast you got my point. NBA is a two way game. You can't be a dimensional player. That's wiseman has a hard time cause he can't defend at all.
See the rookie of Utah that huge dude. He earned his time by blocking shots at average rate for a center
Why not the Suns? Cam Johnson is supposed to be the guy that fits the exact same role, but he's injured. And Booker always attracts a double team, with Ayton setting good screens.
Dope video bro!!
This aged well
Great video bro
Duncan has worked a lot more on his podcast than his game since he got his big extension.
What a great analyse!
The era of being just strictly a shooter is coming to an end especially after Duncan Robinson and Davis Bertans contracts
8:10 sixers fan born & raised my entire life love your content & this is something I screamed for Morey to get done! Idk how to match salaries if somehow u get & keep harden embiid Maxey tucker & add Duncan he's getting 25 ppg easy. Embiid is regularly doubled sometimes tripled majority of plays to kick it to or have harden throw dimes to a wide open Duncan is so intriguing.
It’s almost like the open gym environment of the bubble made some players looks better then they actually were
Defenses alone do that.
Great analysis , i was wondering why no one was talking about him , but i do feel at this point he needs to go somewhere else he hasn't made any progress since last season
He is perfect in Dallas.
Great vid
Great video. Your observations are spot on. Professional sports are brutal when it comes to scouting. Eventually, your opponent figures you out and if you do not have another gear you are cooked. Making Duncan work on defense and take more contested shots is his kryptonite. He also regressed to the mean as well
Same old story! Whiteboys can’t play defense! Don’t give em those big contracts!
New Subscriber! Thanks for the great content.
Strus took his role as a spot up shooter last season with marginally better defense and better finishing at the rim. Duncan fouls a lot and he makes the Heat defense too suspect if Tyler is also on the floor.
Struss took his Duncan Robinson role as spot up shooter and the results is Miami is in the bottom in the standings..
@@totongtv1143 strus frikking sucks. 🤣
@@totongtv1143100% percent
Strus been missing threes for a while now to why not play Robinson
Good video :D
As a bucks fan, i would be really happy if he joins us. Free open looks are guaranteed here
When is the Long Shot coming back?
Well summarized, I still think he can help us when struss is not hot
@Rorschach 0007 summarized,🤷🏾♂️
Hey, he’s doing pretty well in the finals right now.
Nice vid
His low production and bloated contract is something only a bad organization would take.... He's going to LA
Also a matter of compromise. The harder you defend the more tired you get and then the lower your shot percentage gets.
If he knew he can't defend he should have just practice becoming more efficient. Even if you're bad at something if you show hustle and do the small things it accumulates to favor your team.
That salary makes him tough to trade unless Miami gives great compensation.
Unpopular opinion: Duncan's defense is average not bad
Yeah and at least he tries. He's not that old tho, hope he transforms into a 3 and D player later in his career.
K... anybody hungry?
I don’t think that’s a hot take, Duncan is like a JJ Reddick, playing next to other great players will definitely unlock Duncan.
Defense is about strength and basketball IQ, which I don't think he has
Last night he went SUPERNOVA on the 4th quarter of the GAME 2 ( 2023 NBA Finals ) to catapult the MIAMI back into the game and onto the victory.
Lol this didn’t age well
The blessing and the curse of a spot-up shooter: you're so valuable to NBA right now, but you also have the biggest risk to go out of the NBA first
He’d suit the pacers. They need some spot shooters 🔥
He secured the bag, and got to play in the nba....No matter what happens in the future of his career I'd say it's far from a tragedy.
It's not his fault. Herro took his minutes. It also depends on the Coach's set plays
I think more like Max Strus the one who is playing his supposed minutes now
@@chillax9184 yeah ur right. Max is more of a rugged defender and rebounder tho.
The Heat also signed old ass Lowry to a LOT of $$ and he’s been injured half the time. Any casual fan could see the upcoming flaws in these signings.
Well, I have to say this, It's all over for Robinson. If Butler can't make him play some decent D, nobody can't.
Crazy how people are aware and interested in Duncan Robinson dude really made a name for himself
well not that big of a downfall i guess
Where are the free throw line dunks?
I think that Duncan Robinson will most certainly make a comeback. He just needs to be in the right team, and get free looks. Right now, he has to work his ass off to get an open shot - running through screens with someone breathing down his neck...
NBA bubble season is all I will say
@@Gregory-pi3oc ''bubble season'' reasoning is the laziest thing someone can bring up. Explain in detail how the bubble season affected in what aspects exactly if you want to bring up the bubble season.
@@abouttime2569 lol look it up alot of players that had great performances during the bubble season and has not been the same player since for existing TJ Warren was going head up with Jimmy Butler and where has he been since the Bubble . The bright lights and the crowd make a big difference in players confidence on the court. the bubble was like open runs for role players
@@Gregory-pi3oc That happens a lot during a normal season as well. What are you even talking about?
@@abouttime2569 bro even NBA players say the same thing that season was different. That's why stars are stars what are u talking about when the lights are at the brightest they can perform other players fold. Just like Duncan he hasn't been the same player since the Bubble it's in his stats look it up
Everybody was 99 overall in that bubble but when the crowds around people go back in the shell👀 and it goes to show how many “professional athletes” get lost in the sauce and don’t work on their craft no more
I don't really watch the heat much this season but didn't his downfall start because they moved Herro to the starting spot and Robinson to the bench? I could be behind but this is from what I last remember
Finally someone that has something to had. Others are so blinded they can't even see the reason
No herro was a 6man last year
He never fell off!!!!
He just did 20 against the bucks
Not over for his career yet but for now he should be happy with his 90m bench.
I still believe he can turn it around given more minutes, his defense still isn’t good but it’s definitely better these last few games and his shot is there if he can just overcome his nerves
If the coach give him playing time.
Players that command double teams, superb point 👍 he really needs a fresh start
Let's hope Yuta Watanabe is different so far he's a good defender.
Yuta has more physical tools to succeed
Just imagine how deadly Peja would be in this era.
It couldn't hurt for him to learn to play better defense too. I mean, even on a top 10 defensive team, he'd be a liability and might end up riding the bench again after a season or two. Seems like we might have a cycle.
You can't learn athleticism
@@ld7207 You can actually... it's called training.
Would’ve made more sense if you said Curry instead of Herro, all Herro is another Duncan Robinson
very good video. love the conclusions and thoughts abut Duncan.
Definitely needs to work his defense for sure
It's strange how he was on the heats top prospect was on the untouchable trade list to getting paid don't care anymore bench player
What he really needs is to get better on defense
I just don’t see why players growing up don’t focus on defense AND offense. We have players like Dunk who can shoot lights out and players like Dort who cant shoot to save his life. It baffles me.
I'd love to see him with Lakers. The old penetration/kick out play will suit him well.
May God bless him and everyone. ❤
