@@shatter71 The on-board timer is pretty accurate from what I've seen, although it does add in automatic 1 ft rollout, so the real number is probably closer to 2.3-2.4 if the timer says 2.1. Regardless, still an immensely quick time, very few cars that can do those numbers, let alone on a street surface with a gas motor and all-season tires. Forced induction and a tire upgrade would probably result in some ridiculous times, and the LT2 already has aftermarket from 4 years of stingray.

All we need to do is add Michelin all-season tires on the Z06 and it's an all-weather car. These tires will allow all-weather use of ANY C8! As Carlos Lago proved when he was with Car & Driver and daily drove the Z51 even in Michigan winters. He just had to keep the front lift raised or he would turn into a snow plow.

    • @rwilson4073
      @rwilson4073 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

These days, tires do matter a lot more than AWD. With the release of the E-ray, there are finally all-seasons large enough to fit on the Z06, but it certainly won't perform like an E-ray 3/4 seasons with more power to the rears and no help on the front. The Z06 does have larger, more expensive, more fragile aero all around, and isn't built for all-weather use like the stingray, let alone the E-Ray. It might be fine in the rain, but I'd certainly avoid driving it in the snow.

The E-Ray was actually slower on the main straight at VIR with Car and Driver than the base stingray Z51 car. Tesla plaid is 800 pounds heavier then the Eray (which is also AWD btw) and much smaller width tires. Also, You can't compare 0-60 runs to airstrip drag races, two very different performance metrics. Eray is designed for stop light to stop light king, not airstrips lol. It took a long time for the RWD McLaren with more horsepower to catch the lower powered Eray on an airstrip. On the street it will never catch it. Plus the Eray is designed to be a daily driver as it's specs with less sticky all season tires, summers are an option.

@@geerstyresoil3136 not comparing air strip run ways….. I’m saying there is NO way an E-Ray does a Dragy verified 2.1 second 0-60 on a non-prepped track on street tires. It never happened. I use the Tesla Plaid as the ultimate 0-60 comparison because it’s been (until the lucid air sapphire) the fastest production car 0-60 at 1.9 seconds. The E-Ray has an internal combustion engine as MAIN power source and that takes a moment to get up to full power of 600 horsepower. The Plaid is INSTANTLY at over 1000 wheel horsepower and almost as much torque due to its three electric motors. I’m not saying the E-Ray isn’t quick and might be able to do the 2.5 0-60 that Car and Driver obtained….. but it won’t do 0-60 in 2.1 seconds. I’m saying dragy verify it because the dragy is the good standard for accuracy and will even “verify” that the run isn’t downhill or on a slope etc…. All anyone has to do is Dragy it to prove it. The trick is for someone to rip the seat & seat belt components out of the E-Ray and stick in along side the centre compartment containing the 1.9kW/h battery YET ANOTHER 1.9kW/h battery, (weighing around 45kg, so almost no extra weight).
The seat would likely have to be removed anyway to fit it in internally, then also NO 100kg or so lump of a fully clothed passenger to ever lug around and lessen the performance.
Have it all wired up so that as one battery was being used the other is being replenished. Initially of cause both being fully charged.
THEN match it against a C8 Z06 around a track.
With the E-Ray having a recorded WHOPPING 600+ ft/lb torque from 2200 revs to 4500 revs, (at the rear wheel!! according to Paragon Performance) and the E-Ray has a similar amount of HP to the C8 Z06, that race would be something to see. Something I want to see, a two battery pack E-Ray vs a C8 Z06.
Both are fantastic performance vehicles. Marvellous cars they are, GM/Chevrolet have done very well.
As great as the C8 Z06 is, it'd be a real big thrill to drive one, I prefer the E-Ray as it is the POTENTIAL of that car that I am attracted to.
With that extra 1.9 kW/h battery pack, even around a race track my money would be on the E-Ray.
It would likely be close, there not being such a lap time difference between the two vehicles as what was recently recorded for the lightning Lap match up of these two particular vehicles.
(They did say the battery depletion was a limiting factor, so without one ??)
All the slowing down and braking going around a track would soon replenish the spare battery, (unlike in a straight line) with therefore maybe no time lag at all between having the battery boost function on tap.
At present up to 50 secs or a minute or so is needed, according to what I have heard & seen on some YT videos.
With 2 main batteries fitted one battery can be used up, then it can be instructed to automatically switch over to the other one and so on.
Having all that thrust of such colossal torque, wow! 600+ ft/lbs over a wide lower rev range, that makes a big difference in performance. Especially the acceleration.
PLUS of cause lest we forget the E-Ray has all wheel drive. That makes a difference, extra grip.

That interior cabin space looks so tiny in the c8??? How do folks justify this??? 🤮 yuck

It gives you a pure driving experience. That wrap around feels like you commanding the car in an aircraft cockpit devoid of any distraction. Did I mention its unique with no others like it.🤫

it's a sports car, and this guy is pretty damn tall. I fit comfortably at 6'2, it's really not that cramped.

Um… no not cramped at all unless you happen to be over 300lbs.. but at that point isn’t every car 🤔

C8 Actually less cramped then previous generation corvettes. Lots of space, it's just optical illusion since it's fighter cockpit influenced.
