Holy Moly! I always said from the start, that apart from the base trim C8 Corvette that gives the best VFM & bang for the buck. That a Supercharged E-Ray would be better than either the C8 Z06 or the upcoming C8 ZR1.
It was always the POTENTIAL of the E-Ray with its electric/battery boost that Paragon Performance themselves tell us knocks out a crazy 600+ ft/lbs of torque from 2200 revs to 4500 revs.
Just jet force torque and of cause All wheel drive that the C8 Z06 does not have and the C8 ZR1 is not likely to have.
Ideally an Eaton based TVS-X3100 Supercharger has been modded up by Magnuson Superchargers/Lingenfelter or whoever supplied the supercharger, NOT using the age old TVS-R2650.
The 3100 is said to be 17% Larger, have 30% More Airflow and be 11% More Efficient than the TVS-R2650, so best y'all start demanding it and start using them.
Else what on Earth did Eaton spend all that time and money developing their improved performance supercharger for? To have it installed in one Chevy 57 at a car event 2 years ago or so, handed out to a few developers to poke around with and just stuck on a shelf. It needs using.
Can't wait to see the results of this video. With details in the above written YT blurb as to what supercharger was used and the HP & torque figures, in print, as a reference.
It has to be around 850+hp and 850+ ft/lbs of torque at the rear (& front!) wheels. Though it all depends what supercharger is used.
Wow! the acceleration of that, and now it WOULD likely beat a C8 Z06 around the 'Lightning Lap'. It would blow one in to the weeds, as good as the C8 Z06 is.
What ever C8 Corvette anyone gets, they are getting a winner. Though with a Supercharged E-Ray, they for sure have won.
EDIT: A bit disappointing really, the HP & Torque figures of this Supercharged E-Ray I now notice mentioned in a Ligenfelter video posted 6 days prior to this one. Hardly a big countdown until these results were revealed 'live' by Paragon Performance really was it.
    It was already known beforehand.
The figures revealed on a dyno graph are at: www.lingenfelter.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/4/Lingenfelter-Supercharged-C8-Corvette-E-Ray-Dyno_540x540.jpg
Well, all that effort & expense, ($35k installed for just an extra 161hp and 162 ft/lbs of torque).
New pistons slapped in, modded valvetrain, improved inlet porting, etc all for just 161hp and 162 ft/lbs of torque.
Remember that a TVS-R2650 unit was used in the C7 ZR1 and that gave a 300hp at the crank increase on the base C7 Corvette. 455hp with a LT1 engine to 755hp and the LT5 engine.
I hear the base C7 Corvette had on dyno around 400 ft/lbs of torque at the rear wheels, though with the C7 ZR1 and a TVS-R2650 supercharger & internal engine mods it pumped out a recorded 644 ft/lbs.
    SO it GAINED 244 ft/lbs.
YET this Ligenfelter $35,000 kit effectively only gave a base C8 E-Ray a 162 ft/lbs increase on top of a LT2 engine, that in the first place gives 35hp more than a base C7 LT1 engine. (What btw the LT5 engine was based upon!)
So effectively with this Eaton/Magnuson/Ligenfelter Supercharger fitted to a recorded rear/front wheel 630 ft/lbs of torque E-Ray we get just a 161hp and 162 ft/lbs of torque increase at the wheels.
This on a C8 Corvettes 490hp LT2 engine, (with the battery performance in the mix! in the final figures, from 630 ft/lbs to now Supercharged 792 ft/lbs), to me that is a POOR performance increase.
Just a 162 ft/lbs increase with the same TVS-R2650 based Supercharger when we know we can get a 244 ft/lbs increase on a base C7.
(With similar internal engine mods as the LT5 engine and this Ligenfelter Supercharger package had).
That's Ligenfelter for you, high on prices & swankiness and low on performance.
Still using the old TVS-R2650 that Magnuson are getting hold of from Eaton and churning them out to Ligenfelter.
Disappointing results then for me, a TVS-X3100 unit should have been demanded, modded up and fitted, there are units around, that can be used IF DEMANDED!!!!.
Then we would have seen nearer the 850hp and 850 ft/lbs of dyno torque figures that a Supercharged E-Ray deserves.
    CUSTOMERS need to >>demand

How is a RWD ZR1 going to compete with this? If you give a RWD C8 this much torque and power on factory tires it is going to be nothing but spin city. Why would Chevy go backwards in Performance and make the ZR1 RWD after they have already shown how great AWD is in this car?

@@kaylak1275 I'd expect it will be significantly cheaper than the Zora, which will probably add a lot more expensive bits than just e-motors on the front since it's Chevy's new Halo car. Otherwise, the ZR1 will likely offer comparable track performance and higher top speed without the extra motor weight, but the Zora won't be a slouch in either of those departments.

I’m really starting to think this is the Corvette to get. I’m a ZR1 guy and we really don’t know if they will stick a small electric on front. We’re guessing they’ll wait for the Zora but who knows maybe this is all cars from now on. But right now it’s way cheaper to get this Eray and put supercharger on it or some are doing turbos and just buy a big wing and mean looking hood and you have a car that’s insane with that AWD and don’t have to worry about rain and there is still some more HP to sneak out of this engine. I’m giving it serious thought because ZR1 is going to be impossible and will be $250-$300,000 after these illegal mark ups. Corvette is getting almost unattainable for the average man and that was the whole point of Corvette. With my income i should be able to get a ZR1 but it will be crazy high. This Eray is growing on me with the AWD and possibilities of crazy HP and way cheaper. Could even do engine swap or have completely built. Hmmm 🤔

It’s an interesting platform for sure. After the cars upcoming visit to the Corvette Bash at the National Corvette Museum we’ll get some good road miles in. Visit a 1/4 mile track. 2024 ECU programing is different than 2023 and prior. Add on top of that this is an independent AWD electric front and it’s different. It’s going to take a few tweaks to dial her in. First ones built also mean first ones programmed. Get it right and it will be very quick and a great daily driver. Rain, who cares AWR.

To convert STD dyno numbers to SAE dynojet numbers. Take your std number, divide it by 103.3 and then multiply it by 99.
It just calculates to a different DA standard.

  • @the_jason_factor
    @the_jason_factor 12 วันที่ผ่านมา

It’s been a while since I’ve looked into this, but when I did, SAE correction only applied to naturally aspirated vehicles. You cannot introduce another unknown variable, such as a turbo or supercharger and still use the SAE correction factors. Is that still the case or has the formula been updated to allow for induction?

    • @ParagonPerformance
      @ParagonPerformance  12 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@the_jason_factor it also depends on the setup a lot. A supercharger for example spins at a fixed rpm and makes a fixed amount of boost pressure. At sea level, around 14.3 psi and say 10 psi of boost (as an example) it will make 24.3 absolute. If you take the car to CO where the local pressure is say 12.3 psi, it will only make 22.3 in to the engine so the correction will help even out the numbers.
Turbo cars can in some cases be setup to target absolute pressure so if you dyno in IA at 10 psi, you have 24.3, go to CO and tell it to make 24.3 absolute and it coud run 12 psi to make up the missing 2 psi and if the dyno is using correction, it will read higher than Iowa.
The temp and humidity factors still apply to forced injection and that's part of the correction to.
Most folks accept that using correction is appropriate for all cars but it’s going to be a bit less accurate from dyno to dyno than an NA car.
