So some context. Hanabie stared out as a MTH cover band (They were big fans). You can see some similarities in the genre flips, time changes and some unexpected heavy riffs in both of their song structures. MTH is very influential in Japan. Their female drummer (Nao) inspired the drummers for Nemophila (Tamu) and Band-Maid (Akane) that women could be drummers (You've seen how good they both are). If you want somethimg heavier try Shimi (Only on Facebook unfortunately), Hungry Pride or Zetsubou Billy. Koi No Sperma is awesome as well - crazy track, but awesome.
They started in 1997 and you can hear a fair bit of new metal influence in many of their songs. Bassist was heavily inspired by Flea. The drummer and lead guitarist are sister and brother. It always amuses me to think of the gals from Hanabie listening to lots of MTH in school with Yukina practicing her unclean vocals and Hettsu and Matsuri getting their riff skills together, whilst they just destroy the music room. There was already mention in the comments of other Maximum The Hormone tracks, A.L.I.E.N, Maximum The Hormone II, Zetsubou Billy, Hungry Pride, all great songs. Also "America In Love" is highly entertaining. Opinions will differ, but I would suggest A.L.I.E.N somewhere near the top of the MTH list. This song has some great time switches etc, some of their other songs have just outright absurd genre flips!
the look of absolute delight on your face! awesome. immediate sub for that. this band is sooo the BEST. just dropped a brand new MV a few daze ago that is amazing and highly rec. also def go find WHAT'S UP PEOPLE and watch/listen with subtitles, that song is old but should be a new anthem right effing now
I think it's safe to say that MTH is Japanese rock bands' favorite rock band. Nao, the drummer, has been an inspiration to a whole generation of female rock drummers, including Akane of Band-Maid. As others have pointed out, the entire band were the inspiration for Hanabie.
The most influential group of J-rock. They are all singers in the group. This song is about bullying at school against guitarist Rio, 25 years ago it was a problem in Japan. He sings that when he grew up and became famous, he wanted to take revenge. But he is a musician, so he decided to take revenge with a song. By the way, at the very beginning the drummer Nao sings.
Best Punk-metal band ever. And super trolls as well (in a fun way) They will always keep you guessing and going...WTF...?? (But also in a good way!) Check out their newest, "Satsui vs. Satsui"
MTH are the godparents of rock/metal in Japan Legends that the western world missed in their prime but we have their music and MVs to listen to. Keep reacting to MTH! 🤘🕊️🦍🥷👸🏻👀PO!

First time Maximum The Hormone is always an experience LOL! I suggest their A.L.I.E.N. for how truly mad they can get. MTH are one of the most influential bands from Japan inspiring a generation of Japanese bands and musicians including Hanabie and Akane from Band-Maid to name a few. You never know what they are going to do next, they truly break genre's.

Welcome to Maximum the Hormone. This is the band that inspired Hanabie. It is the band whose drummer inspired Tamu from Nemophila and Akane from Band-Maid to start playing drums. The members are: Daisuke-han (AKA Daisuke Tsuda): harsh vocals, rapping, occasional drums and keyboards (founder member) Nao Kawakita: Drums and vocals (founder member) Maximum the Ryo-kun (AKA Ryo Kawakita): vocals, guitar, songwriting. Drummer Nao is Ryo's older sister. Ue-chang (AKA Futoshi Uehara): Backing vocals, bass This song is about the bullying Ryo experienced as a fat kid in school. His sister was unable to help and the experience left Ryo with a great deal of anger. This is a kind of cathartic explosion. The ending chant section is always pretty emotional. The band is crazy but their chaotic songs often have some kind of substantial issue as the seed from which they grow. It can be difficult to tell where satire and messing around stop and any real message begins. Their lyrics can be cryptic and full of wordplay.
I pulled up the lyrics but I wasn't sure if the translator was off little :( but man this band Is something else... I am in the most unknown side of universe of music TO ME at least, and there is more music coming from these guys!!! Awesomely talented band!

Maximum The Hormone are living metal legends in Japan. Very few other bands have had such an influence on other musicians and bands as MTH. Internationally, MTH is also letting many discover the Japanese metal market, especially through the opening and ending songs from the second season of Death Note, a very successful anime. And if you want the full blast: A.L.I.E.N.
MtH is absolutely huge in Japan and have inspired bands like Hanabie you recently reacted to. Drummer NAO has inspired some great female drummers like Tamu Murata of Nemophila and Akane Hirose of BAND MAID. They all sing and YES ... this song is typical of what they do :) . They are never predictable. This is an excellent intro song for the band. The drop is epic ... and the anime section is a great reference ... The best bands in Japan are asked to write music for the top anime series. MtH has written for Chainsaw Man (2022), Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' (2015) and Death Note (2006).
A brilliant band. Not only are their hormones at maximum levels, but so is their creativity. For example, look at the video for “Let’s Talk About Menkata Cottelee” (Maximum The Hormone II), which also fits in well with this one thematically. While this was about the bullying that the guitarist had to endure during his school days because of his overweight, the other song is about the guitarist's weight loss for health reasons, and the reactions of some fans who preferred to keep their overweight Ryo .
