Swanage December 2023, Pre christmas adventure

As we had a few days holiday leave left we visited Swanage for a chilled out few days. I did intend to Vlog/photograph the trip, but the weather had other ideas so i only managed 1 day of photography and filmed some not so epic B-roll as i'm a B-roll virgin it turn out Ok i think. The sunlight was very harsh so didn't make for great photography.

Hi Shawn hope you're well and thanks for the kind comment. Considering the weather we'd been having leading up to this trip we were expecting to be sat in the hotel bar most of the time. Monday was definitely more like a summers day than 2 weeks before Christmas. Although it was great to be out in the sunshine it didn't make for good photography as the light was to harsh.

Hi Steve hope you're well and thanks for commenting. Enjoyed our catch up always good to chat with you, Sunday afternoon turned out fantastic. Enjoyed filming the b roll but I didn't realise how much hard work it was, also Enjoyed editing it. The weather was amazing on Monday but the light was so harsh it didn't make for good photography.

Good to see you both again, Swanage looks lovely in the December sunshine - Must have been exhausting walking all those parts twice ! lol - Looks good though :) 'Bum Grabbing' lol - Definitely a different look to the video with the B Roll - I enjoyed it, but fully understand how much effort went into it! Great pics - I also have a galaxy S7, which the phone OI use when I'm recording from the windscreen of my car ! Take care.. & Happy Xmas!
Hi Bill hope you're well and thanks for the kind comment. We were very lucky with the weather, it was forecast for rain, the drive down was quite bad heavy rain and was went through some flooding. It cleaned on the Sunday afternoon and was glorious on Monday hence the walk. The B roll was hard work but fun to do and also edit. The Samsung galaxy s7 is a great phone I use mine to control the gopro.

How spooky. I was joking with Helena this morning that we needed to drive off for a mad day in Swanage ….. and there you are! I do like it there. Beautiful for video. You must have walked that walk three times over. Once to place the camera, once for the video, and then again to pick the camera up!!! I must have a go at adding a bit more of us like that in my vids. It does place you in the place nicely. Useful technique.
Hi Ian hope you're well & thanks for commenting. We love swanage one day we aim to make it our home but until then we'll visit as many times as we can. It defo has a lot to offer the photographer/videographer, the weather was fantastic that day but not great for photography, the other 3 days we were there it rained, so i did have chance to do more photography. The B-roll was great fun to film and edit but we did do rather a lot of walking, i did try and control my GoPro with the app on my phone but the connection kept dropping out. I think this type of B-roll add can add to a video but it does involve a lot of walking but worth a try.

Hi Jon, hope you are both well, well deffently not a B-roll virgin now, great selection of shots and camera angles. Great set of images especially 14:38 wow what a shot. Why does the town look dead, was it 3am lol or did you just get lucky.
Hi Keith hope you're well and thanks for the kind comment. i really enjoyed filming the B-roll and also editing it, it certainly made me realise how much effort goes into B-roll and all the walking needed. To be honest i'm not overly happy with the photos i think the light was to harsh, and as i've photo'ed Durston park many times i was lookin for some different. The evening photos were taken around 8pm after we'd been out for fish 'n' chips Swanage is a very quiet town, most pubs were shut so we had to smuggle booze back to the hotel.
I defo need more practice with the B-Roll, so looking forward to your B-roll video.
