- Shopped an area Goodwill store and found more brands than a department store! Well, at least the housewares and tabletop section. Did not expect to find Royal Doulton, Mottahedah, Wilton Armetale, and so much more. Prices were hit or miss and one more reason to look all over the store. The coveted items in the glass cases are often high dollar, while other areas were more affordable. It's a great gifting opportunity with an array of products, some even new with tags. See the Fragonard style plate that has me thinking of a trip back to China Baroque. How do you get napkin rings from a plate? I will tell you my ideas and lots more creative uses for items we discover together.

Goodwill caught on seeing what Goodwill TH-cam thrift hunters are selling what they buy at their stores on eBay, Etsy or their Contract company that sells their goods online. They’ve caught on by raising their prices.
Also the other thrift stores, you have to know the unmarked pieces to get a thrift price!
Supposed to be a thrift store. Everything is donated. Not supposed to be retail prices.
Goodwill is becoming outrageous with their prices. They have noticed all the bargain hunters who buy up things at Goodwill and resale at much higher prices on e-bay, and Etsy. Those of us who love history and love to collect vintage pieces can rarely find a bargain anymore. Sad!
So true! I still stop by every once in a while to look for treasures. There are still deals that they miss with that pricing gun.

Will be looking for it. We do have Art Nouveau items in our home. This is known as "Jugendstil" in Germany.

Hello good friend ! its very clear that the good will stores reflect the area the store is located in for prices. ..we shop 4 different ones and prices are all different. Nice Victorian plate ...Irish crystal superb ! Really liked the Greco Roman urn ! Oh my ! Lol ...nice 8 sided lidded basket ! You must have waved your magic wand ! Good Will won't let me film in thier stores so I stopped saying their name !!! Thank you for the nice shopping adventure ! 😎❤🌴☕
Seriously, Goodwill will not let you film? It’s free advertising and they are missing an opportunity. I would get in touch with the corporate office and connect with the marketing person. At least, get in touch with a regional manager. Most Goodwill stores are pleased when I film. Though, this one would not turn down the loud music. Therefore, talking points were not possible.

I'm shocked at how expensive this Goodwill was compared to other Goodwills you've shopped at before.

I've noticed, since Goodwill is no longer a non/not for profit, they have been marking all their item much higher. I don't think many people know Goodwill is owed by one man and he decided several years ago to remove Goodwill Industries from a charitable listing to a for profit business. It is no longer a 501C3 organization.

Celery dish reminds me of scene from 1940s The Bishop's Wife, where they are sitting at the dinner table and each eating a stalk of celery with their individual salt shakers, wow, that makes a simple salad.

Goodwill is high dollar without being a department store or boutique. There are still bargains to be had, but requires multiple visits and much patience.

You're very pleasant to watch. Most of the prices there were too high for what they were. For me, I would rather pay a little bit more for considerably better at a resale store.

Re that white tiered tray, I have learned (the hard way) to ALWAY take your tiered trays apart if you plan to submerge them in water to clean because the screw portion of the hardware WILL rust if not allowed to dry properly, sometimes making it difficult to take apart when needed! One can always use paper doilies on each plate, then just wipe the plates off with a damp cloth if needed to clean when putting them away.....

Resellers tik tocs and yt videos are killing goodwill prices. They had some beautiful pieces.
Agree. I buy for myself and went to a local Goodwill recently. I have noticed the last few years the prices at GW are not what they used to be. I believe in addition to resellers, recent increases given inflation are also impacting some current prices I see.

This store is a upscale Goodwill!! Store's in my local area rarely ever has collected vintage decor. I love Armatel. I had the plough tavern style and many pieces. It's dear to my heart! I saw many beautiful items that would be hard to pass up!! So enjoyable to join you. It's always so interesting and informative. Thank you. Take care. 🌸🌸🌸

'Top of The Hill' Royal Doulton limited addition. Purchased from Myer store in Australia cost $600 purchase price In the year of 1998 in Australia.
Just to give you an idea of the new purchase price back then.
I guess it would have been a new release in 1998.
I'm glad that you're showing that some of the prices at Goodwill are too expensive. Also, I'm glad you show back stamps. It might sound like I'm a little paranoid, but I never buy any dishes that have been made in China to use to serve food. I am wary of the glazes and finishes that are used. I feel dishes made in England or Japan are much safer as far as using them on a daily basis. Of course, dishes made in China are fine to use for decorative purposes in my humble opinion.
I am thinking along those lines, too. Some major tabletop manufacturers have production in Thailand and China. I am more trusting if Portmeirion oversees the factory. Lots to consider with this. Yes, backstamps are a must.
I have that Gibson poinsettia pattern for tea stuff. It’s practical and cheap. Incidentally, I found it at goodwill.

So true! Thrifting requires thinking, especially when prices are sometimes high at Goodwill and more affordable at upscale resales. I always say to think about what you are holding and not the store location. You might not want to spend $20 at Goodwill, but would pay $40 at an antique shop for the same.

Prices were a bit high on the Mottahedah plates. Goodwill must have looked on EBay. Similar prices there.

I love your thrifting trips and commentary. I have absolutely zero space for anything else; in fact I’m trying to purge a bit to make room for recent purchases, but I love your idea for using vintage serving dishes and vases as gift containers. I’m going to keep that in mind. I loved the little peppermint swirl Christmas dish. I would have pounced on that. I have that pierced carafe. It was a gift but I have never once used it. Someone in a video used one for sangria which was interesting with the fruit in it. Nice video, Lady Mary Beth. Hope you have a good week.

It always amazes me all the top name brands you guys find at goodwill. Whenever I go, I never find such things. If May be because I’m not as familiar with these brands so I’m unaware of the buried treasures.
Go often and you will find the buried treasures. There have been times I left a Goodwill and my friend was there hours later for the deal of the century.
Demographics of the Metro Phoenix area and the upswing in professional thrifters makes the chance of finding reasonably priced treasures at charity shops virtually impossible. However, the upswing in professional thrifters has made for, what I consider, good deals on eBay. Won an auction for a Waterford Horse Head Paperweight, in perfect condition, for $13.09 (+ $14.75 shipping) which is now on its way to Oregon for a girlfriend’s birthday. This year am able to ‘justify’😉adding to my Spode Christmas Tree collection - many older and/or ‘Made in England’ pieces for sale at reasonable prices. Hope you got to watch The Jubilee Celebrations - got a lot of goose pimples and shed tears!!

From the few resellers I watch, Good Will prices have got quite a bit higher this year. I’m in Ontario Canada and the Good Wills are very pricey in my area

They really have raised their prices. It’s an even greater challenge to find deals.

I have many regrets. Have realized that filming and shopping don't always mix. I often return the next day to focus on missed items.

Love the Love Story plate, agreed with some of the prices that are much to high. As for pewter, I've stayed away from it, thought it had very low value

I honestly think what has happened is One of the women. That works at goodwill told me they have got word of the TH-cam resalers and antique dealers that along with their online auctions and and goodwill finds site ...They want the mark up..And personally I think they find it may work against them.

In the UK you cannot give away Wedgwood Jasperware or Royal Dalton figurines. Friends tell me nobody is interested in these pieces. Royal Worcester handed painted, pattern fruit plates, Moorcroft and Royal Crown Derby old Imari especially, is worth looking out for.
I will be right over to take it off their hands. My friend travels to London often and shops the markets for Jasperware. Can't wait to get back to London.

I don't normally look at or buy dolls but the other day I found a boy and girl Gotz doll set dressed in lederhosen and dirndl dress. The charity shop was having 1/2 off on "toys" so I got the pair for 10 bucks. What???
