people who already bought GN5 should have a major discount on GN6
Ya, I was also irritated by this because as they took a lifetime fees and now there will give no updates for Goodnotes 5
Agree, even with the discount they provided for GN5 owners the new GN6 seems unreasonably high 🤯 The discount should have been bigger
the 33% discount is quite good since that is about the same amount that you paid for goodnotes 5, but that should be for everyone not only for people who bought goodnotes 5 in july

You are correct. We lost the app loyalty. I have purchase good notes 5 year ago. that time felt good about Goodnotes because they offer one time payment. not a subscription model. Now, Goodnotes went into that kind of corporate style subsection model, Which hate a lot. Not only me, every one hate the subreption model. Loyalty of application is lost.
Congratulations, Good notes. You lost the so many loyal customer. It’s time to look for alternative notetaking apps.

I personally felt duped when the one-time-payment didnt mean i get updates/features forever, it was only for the one version.
I think they intentionaly dont make this very clear.
With the update itself, the math and AI could have been bundled into templates store as an additional add-on. Because i for one dont use any math in my day to day notes, the AI writing doesnt read or correct my writing accurately enough to make it attractive (10% success rate), the only thing now a complete new version does in GN6 for me colours my folders....Great.
They should be sued for intentionally deceiving people who paid for GN5 with the impression that these purchasers will have access to all future features/updates!
You should be a big TH-camr! AND YES App loyalty should be rewarded with updates :D
i was very confused between Notability and Goodnote 6, you have pretty well solved my confusion, will be leaving notability and starting Goodnotes 6, probably will take some time to re learn it but i think its worth it, as mathematics and physics are my main subjects as a teacher....so really grateful....thanx

I think what's important is that now GN6 is available across all platforms. One-time purchase supports iOS, ipadOS and macOS versions only. But yearly subscription supports also web, android, windows. Which is very convenient. You can work collaboratively on your PC while making notes on ipad the same time.
In simple words:
Only 2 updates are good- 1) scribble to erase 2) circle to Lasso
And they are charging very high from loyal users

I am a med student and I have good notes 5 but I am okay with the features I have right now and after this videos its only a few changes that has been done in good notes 6 so i dont find it worth upgrading for 50$.... Thanks for the video👌🔥
Very good video, but even as an engineering student, I don’t think that the math tools will be that game changing as your goal is to find the solution yourself, and having all this extra help might be too much and you won’t find it by yourself in the end

Even apple AI cant solve complex math problems , how can Goodnotes do it.

@@raviprakash7062 I searched it up, and it says that if you already paid for GN5, you would still have access to all features and that your note taking experience will stay the same! :)

@@raviprakash7062 i've read you'll WILL be able to use the app as normal, they will just be ending the ability to purchase the full GN5 after Sep9th, in the store new people will only see GN6.. But all current users can continue as normal and will get bug fixes and other updates till ios18 i believe. Just no more additional features will be added to GN5.

I won't upgrade to gn6 because new features don't attract me anymore. AI correction or sound recording or some other feature,,, but I don't need them. I won't upgrade until gn official stopped iCloud backup feature. I think the latest version is enough for me.
50 dollars for an actualization in Colombia, it’s crazy. It was supposed to be a lifetime payment, if you had already bought it, why is a simple update even more expensive for us?

Really good review. Thank You. I have decided to stay with GN5 for now. When they add password protection, I’ll upgrade then. I don’t think I need any of the new features. It’s great as it is. I definitely don’t need the AI. Honestly, I think it will just get in the way when I am journaling.
The lasso tool must allow rotation after selection. The maths solved answers can have many versions . There is not a hard and fast rules for writing maths steps. So one version of answer cannot help.

Just one question, if I take on year subscription and write my notes in it with lot of notebook creation, what will happen when the subscription period got over? Will all the notes be lost? Or they will persist but can't be able to edit further?

Goodnotes 4 is the best app
I think this is a good update bc I do have dyslexia and I struggle a lot with figuring out how to spell words and so on. Also won’t good with math so the new update rly made it better for me to at least understand it
Goodnotes 6 has annual subscription fee of 999₹ and life time subscription fee of 2999₹.

The app lags a lot too. Especially with the custom size pages, the bigger the pages, the more it lags. It is extreme irritating. They should work on making it much smoother!!

It appears to me that it is not worth updating 5 to 6. This video and another convinced me to stay out with something I have already paid for. I don’t like this new trend towards subscriptions. I think incremental upgrades probably are worth paying for every few updates when there is a substantial difference in the app. Just like it’s not worth buying each new iteration of an iPhone and better to wait a few upgrades or when your phone no longer handles the software

Being really honest just use apple notes, and so,etching I want to tell is that the maths most AI can solve is just 1+x=5 what is x , something so easy that even 1st graders could do. So if you are in higher levels of math, their AI won’t do anything, apple AI can’t you think Goodnotes can, not even close.

Yea goodnotes 5 will not be available after that. You can buy now and stick to it.

Go to the home screen then press the cog at the top right. Press settings then press switch to goodnotes 5.

Just for pdf reading and annotations - Flexcil. Goodnotes best overall for pdf as well as notes.

Nice review. I’ve been using GN since version 4. A few thoughts:
1. Don’t be too impressed with customizable page templates. These have always been easy to make in procreate (or any app that lets you make a pdf) and then import into GN. So this is no real improvement.
2. The fonts, colors and icons give the appearance of feminine teenager. Doesn’t look very appropriate for professional environment.
3. The folder graphics are pretty sparse. I would have expected customizable graphic or text options.

Difficult choice. Depends how long you want to use GN. They usually come with a new version in 3-4 years. either pay yearly for 3-4 years then use GN7 or pay once and keep using GN6 for a longer period without upgrading to 7. @@Myneuron-013

You will find an option to downgrade in settings. If not, send an email to goodnotes. There is a bug. Some are not getting the option to downgrade.

Screw goodnotes 6 and screw the company. Subscription models are nothing but a money grab. One time lifetime WILL NOT be one time nor life time. Just ask a good notes 5 user who paid for ONE TIME LIFE TIME and now we get updates for a little while longer, then nothing.
But Goodnotes6 has no Noise Reduction feature..

What happens to your documents when you are off the internet ? does it work offline ?
Everything works offline. The changes you make offline get synced to the cloud when you get online.

It is not good for GoodNotes 5 users
How to downgrade
Wait 7 days and it will be GN5
Go to setting go to downgrade turn the switch off
