it's almost embarrassing to admit how much joy keeping this spreadsheet gives me 🙈 you should totally make one, it really helps me pick what books to read next when I'm feeling indecisive!
I make my spreadsheets in Google Sheets so not sure how it would work in excel if you are using that, but in Sheets you and just have the cell you want selected and go Insert > Checkbox, you do the same action for dropdown (just select "dropdown" instead of "checkbox") and it will open "data validation tools" on the right side of the screen. There you can add all the options you want in a dropdown menu and choose different colours for each. You can apply the same dropdown menu to a range in a column by changing the "apply to range" section. ex. if it says "Sheet1!A2" you can change it to "Sheet1!A2:A!" to have a dropdown option in every cell in the A column starting with cell A2. I hope this makes sense! I actually have another newer spreadsheet video where I've updated this spreadsheet and changed the aesthetic completely and added more data and formulas. I had a few people ask how I made it so I'm working on making a tutorial video that will include an explanation for this as well with a visual aid 😊
For column C and E I just input these myself and update them as the number changes (I read a book, I'll change the number or if a new book is released, I update the number in column C). Column F is column C minus Column E 😊
This is so interesting. I love organization too, and I recently started a spreadsheet. Thank you for the idea!
oh yay! I'm glad you liked it and I hope your spreadsheet treats you well 😊
I love this! Thank you! I adopted some of your ideas into mine. I also enjoy keeping track of my read books.

how did you do the completed, ongoing, and checkbox stuff

What do you use to track your reading??? 😊
The story line kind of continues with The Brothers Hawthorne.
well dang, I guess I'm definitely going to have to read it now haha
Whats the formula for columns C, E & F?
For column C and E I just input these myself and update them as the number changes (I read a book, I'll change the number or if a new book is released, I update the number in column C). Column F is column C minus Column E 😊
