Thank you for this comparison of reading trackers! This video gave me so much insight into how these different apps work and what might or might not be a good fit for my tracking needs.
@@Vivslittlelibrary it's actually super interesting to see how all the different apps work, but also there is no one perfect one! like I wish so much that the features for some of these were combined into one app!!
Great review. Couldn’t agree more about Good Reads. I was so mad about Book Tracker deleting my ratings as well! I wanted to switch so I tried everything else and nothing does it for me. The tags look pretty and it’s all nice and clean. I ended up just redoing all my ratings and sticking with it.
So I’ve tried some apps, and sadly, nothing is good enough. I hate how goodreads works and looks. I hate the analystics. BUT it’s the only tracking app, which has always all of the English books, shows you which part of the series the book is, all of the books from author.
I would love that… since both of them are owned by Amazon the only one that could technically do that would be Goodreads but since Goodreads hasn’t been updated in 5 years I don’t think there is any app that does that…😬
The story graph statistics are fantastic, and once a year I will delete all my books and reimport my data. BUT statistics are only helpful if they're accurate. And I always find things in wrong categories, wrong languages, wrong formats... Plus a lot of the statistics are subjective. A "slow paced" book for one person might be "fast paced" for someone else.
Yeah I have the same issues a lot. They have a lot of preset categories… but I am pretty sure the mistakes come from just uploading the data. If you were to use this as your reading tracker it would be better because you could actually set the genres yourself ☺️
If you find an error in any book, just send over a ticket, the librarians will fix it for you in no time. As for wrong formats or languages in your stats, if you go to the book in question in (editions) you can just switch the book you are or have read into whichever format/language/edition you want
great video Viv. I’m an iOS developer and I’m currently working on a book tracking app as well. It’s going to have a very modern looking UI with lots of animations and what not; I can share once I get closer to release if you’re interested! Anyway, it’s great to consume these kinds of videos and see what users want/expect. Your voice is being heard, I’m taking notes ✍️
I beg of you, could you add a feature where you can see the highest rated books of all time on your app? I’m baffled at how this just doesn’t seem to exist on book tracking sites/apps. filters like genre and time periods for that would be cool too, good luck!
@@papyrus_12 thanks for the suggestions, I will definitely keep them in mind! One note about the highest rated books though, when you create an app there has to be a service that your app calls in order to fetch the books. The most popular database for this is GoogleBooks, and that’s the one I’m using. While they do not have a call I could make to fetch, say, the top 100 books of all time, once you set up your library you can definitely sort / filter by highest ratings. I’ve also added custom ratings where you can set whatever rating title and emoji you’d like. It’s all coming together quite nicely (if I may say so myself). The app should be launching within a month or so; in the meantime you guys can check out the landing page I created at www.readtracker.app. Hope you like what you see!
They have a lot of great features but not the right tracking for me. I usually only track a book once I’ve finished reading it. With this you sort of track as you go. But if that sounds great to you then that might be the app for you🥰
I’m a little late here but I want to give a thumbs up for Bookly. As I thought the review didn’t do it justice. I think it is a great little app. You do track your reading as you go but you can track manually rather than having to have the clock ticking. It has ambient sounds whilst reading which is nice. They do challenges regularly with prizes. They do have a social part but not on the app itself it is on discord and is very active. It also has a very active development team who keep everyone updated on what’s happening with the app and organise the challenges and the discord as well. 👍
Thanks for this! I would add, I am reading webnovels and wish someone would add a way to put links so I can track them! Especially you, Goodreads! Guess I will be typing into Google sheets. Would be so nice to be able to upload someone's data....
loved this video!! only app missing was fable ;_; i'm looking for a review on that one. maybe it's new? i don't know. but great great on these reading apps comparisons!

Glad it was helpful! I realized that we all have different things we want from our reading Tracker.
I really enjoyyd these reading app videos, you did a good job!
Thank you so much! I really like doing them. I love seeing how people create different apps for essentially the same purpose ☺️

I totally get that☺️

Storygraph definitely does this. Any missing book can easily be added with the isbn too
Do you know if theres a book tracker that can be synced with kindle and audible to track your reeading across platforms?
I would love that… since both of them are owned by Amazon the only one that could technically do that would be Goodreads but since Goodreads hasn’t been updated in 5 years I don’t think there is any app that does that…😬
I'm going to add Spice tags to storygraph so I can tag the spice rating I'm giving it then it's searchable! :D
Yeah that sounds like a great Idea☺️
Do you have a video on your tagging/categories system? Would love one to help me organize my massive chaotic piles!
Not really… I usually sort them by genre if you look at my latest bookshelf reorganization video you can kind of see what I did☺️

Which app would you recommend as a sort of book database for ios. Comprehensive but with the essencial features.
Pros ably BookTracker since you can have a really great amount of books and still understand what you are doing☺️
Do we have any Android version of tbr bookshelf
Not that I know… but then again I can’t really test it😬
What are your thoughts on on Bookmory and Fable?
I’ve never heard of fable… might check it out though… and I think you fount the video about Bookmory already ☺️
@@Vivslittlelibrary yes I did!
Is tbr bookself an iPhone app? 😮
Yeah. I just checked and I think it is just available in the App Store.😬
Do I see Celia Friedman books behind you?
I have not heard of them before so I don’t think so… but are there any books by them that you would recommend?☺️
@@Vivslittlelibrary I have read the trilogy: feast of souls (the best book I’ve ever read), wings of wrath, legacy of kings.
you have the app “bookly” shown on ur thumbnail but u didnt even review it … :(
Ahhh I didn’t do an individual time stamp but it starts at 12:46 ☺️
The fiction character books as reading

I can check it out… but I have not tired it yet☺️😬
I absolutely LOVE Fable. It’s so easy to use & track everything you need to. Only thing I wish is that it was user friendly with my Kindle.
Can’t believe I’m early 💖
☺️😂 I almost forgot about it myself😂
Which have FNAF COMIC
I am pretty sure you can find them in most of them. But in case you don’t you can always add them yourself.☺️
Are you German
Yeah I am half American half German… but I grew up in Germany ☺️
Nice
Glad you like it☺️
"we all know good reads"
what the fu#? is goodreads ?
The worst but most popular app to track your reading😂
