    I am not sure how it would be possible to make this video any better. You know how to make a mackerel rig, but you also know how to make a first class video.
    Thanks for making and sharing.

    Paul, I have watched this over and over, and I still wish that I could be so fortunate to fish in a beautiful setting as Scotland. I have to agree with your sentiment about just being there is good enough.

      Sadly i no longer live there and this was just a holiday to see friends who do, the whistle at the end was from a fishing buddy and hopefully we will be going back this summer for a bit of whistling and a bit of fishing. Thanks

    Your video is the best. I followed them and made several variants of sabiki rigs before I went to Maine, USA for a two weeks vacation. All of them worked just great. Caught a lot of mackerels and pollocks. Thank you for the wonderful videos.

    This is brilliant. I've made your other mackerel rigs, with great success, catching spanish mackerel. And with as much coffee as I drink, this is a logical next step. Thanks so much for this!

      ***** I used to fish with a guy who ran on triple espressos, sometimes it was a little like talking to an over-revving outboard engine but he was from Brazil and knew how to catch fish.
      Thanks and Good Luck

    What's great is that the coffee packaging is "pre-scented". I find a bag of Starbucks grounds, which I received as a gift and I'll never drink, makes for great scent and worm food w a garlic clove or two. Great video as always! You have that creative Detroit spirit across the pond. Cheers!

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, we still have a car plant but lots of empty streets. The coffee scent has almost got rid of the fish smell from my bag.

    One of my favorite episodes. I've made many variations of mackerel rigs over the last couple of years. One of my favorite materials is the bag from Doritos chips which are very shiny and durable not to mention the chips are a nice bonus.

    Very nice video, explained very well and a delight to watch. I've made several sets now as fish in Norway, to loose tackle can get very expensive and almost inevitable here, for something like this about 3 pounds a pop and made in China. I caught loads of fish with them, pollock, mackerel, colefish and I even had a codling and pollock together once.

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Scott tork I started making them because i used to lose the far eastern made ones in the reefs and kelp, and i figured that someone else was sitting down and tying them so why couldn't it be me. I think one of my best days was showing somebody on the beach how to make them and then the pair of us catching fish. Thanks

    Thank you for this video, with instructions on how to tie each lure to the main line. Your instructions are clear, simple and easy to follow. Your videos are good quality and the angles are superb. I also make my own mackerel/bluefish and sabiki rigs. This video is very helpful. You are creative and amazing. I love all your videos. Can you possibly do more videos of you ocean fishing? We enjoy watching you catch fish. Spouse and some family are from Ireland and Scotland. We are planning 2-week vacation to Ireland/Scotland next year and hope to do some fishing. Hope to use some of your handmade rigs.

      ***** juste a small remark Paul if i may, I noticed that you changed the knot you are using to tie the feather to the hook (comparing to earlier similar rigs in 2012 and 2013) , is there any particular reason? thanks

    • @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman
      @PaulAdamsTheHandmadeFisherman  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This is the knot i actually started out tying when i began making feather traces, it works and it it quick but it is not as strong as the knot i developed later which is in most of the videos. It only really works well with simple attachments and very few turns round the hook so it is not something i would use for everything but in this situation i am happy with it. Thanks for spotting and asking

    I did it but instead I have used parrot feathers cuz I have a pet parrot and there's a lot of old feathers with nice colours on them like red blue yellow and green so I used them with some type of reflective sewing thread
    And guess what it worked perfect for the mackerel and some sardines hooked too
