    If you unplug the headlight wiring harness at the beginning, you can leave it all clipped into the header panel. In my opinion it's much easier to do it that way.

  • @dakota.zimmerman
    @dakota.zimmerman 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

    Good video but like Kyle Brazell said, just unplug the header wiring harness right in front of the airbox (large black plug). That way the headlights and all the wiring can stay in place and come off still attached to the header panel.

    Heh I feel like I need someone like you in my shop when I'm working on stuff. You seem to be more patient than myself. In videos at least I like to think I'm a patient guy, but it took me 2 days to install my metalcloaks on my TJ. I've given up on trying to install a blowoff valve on my Fiesta ST 3 different times. Ordered some new tools this time around. 4th time's a charm! Nice video by the way!

    I have the same antenna nut on my dodge Durango. Took a piece of pipe that fit the nut and grinded it to fit only took a few min. Then I welded a nut to it but you could just vice grip the pipe and it'll work the same

    Just FYI there is a connector for the wiring harness just behind the front clip on the drivers side that lets you keep the harness attached to the clip and means you don't have to remove the headlight just the marker housing to get to the nut behind the housing.

    Tim just wondering if you looked at your local Pick and Pull for OEM sheet metal? If not you might want to check Stockton the next time you have a need and venture into Ca. in your travels, they almost always have a few1996+ XJ's. Or just bite the bullet pay a little more and hit up J&W's Jeep recycling in Sacramento, they may have even had a green Jeep to match. OEM offers a much better fit and quality, and saves you paint work because they won't rust out as easy as the aftermarket primed fenders will when you don't back paint them. Also a rag around those vise-grip jaws would work at not shredding the nut. Just a thought. Good how to video though!

    • @bleepinjeep
      @bleepinjeep  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Steve Yulenburg I've been to J&W's a few times. Neat place to check out but the prices are $$$$. I'm curious to see how these $50 Amazon fenders hold up. So far they seem really good for for the price.

      Dan Hambrick They'll probably stay black for a while. Long term I'd like them to match but its hard to justify the $ when I'll certainly scratch them right out of the gate! I think they look ok black. What do you think?

    My driver’s side is pretty bad from some sort of impact during the previous owner’s administration but it highly contributed to it being $600 so I’m happy to deal with it until I find one in a junkyard or online that’s the same color, black with the same yellow stripe that’s in the one in this video.

    Rather than trying the needlenose pliers on the antenna nut, if you happen to have a watch caseback wrench, then tend to work pretty good depending on the length of the studs.

    • @MrMrsregor
      @MrMrsregor 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      i used a flat screw diver as a punch in the groves and tapped it lightly with a little mallet till it was loose
