I'm glad to not be the only one to have caught onto that one. They may have been "hand pounded panels back in the 30's but not in the 90's. This guy should do more research prior to selling a car.
The 1982 Rolls were built on a assembly line-a fairly slow assembly line. This was not a car with a coach-built body. BTW, most Rolls sedans have terrible resale. You can pick-up a 1980s Rolls sedan in fantastic condition for 20k or less.
Noce car always dreamed of owning one since I was little but how expensive are they to run maintain? Can one afford to run one on an average wage? Cheers regards stewy Dalby Queensland Australia 4405😀
I know, I totally agree with you. Hand pounded with "English Tools"? No they are not, this guy is so full of shit. Seriously, a machine does some of this work dude...haha
Unless that Spirit could literally fly, it was not fitted with a Rolls-Royce Merlin engine. The Merlin engines were used exclusively for aircraft. I was expect this vehicle to be fitted with a 6.75 litre V-8.
There‘s no Merlin engine in these Rolls-Royce cars. Merlin engines were only built during and before WW2. They were V12 engines built only for aviation, like the Spitfires! This salesman is extremely ignorant!!!😕
this is a case study in piss poor knowledge about high end cars. This may be old but this video is ripe with bad info. The average person doesnt know about the mineral oil system. Also, a well kept RR would come with all the receipts and maintenance records. Repairs on these can get ridiculously expensive very fast. A fool and his money are soon parted.
its monaacoy construction but is machine pressed and yep the paint was bad on all the earlySCZ RR cars and theres some criticle fuel pump alternator mods that hjave to be done to make them reliable and newer weatherstripping on the doors.the usa headlamps are not only unattractive but dangerous with inadequite light.the power seat tranmissions have to be upgraded or dont let fattys sit in the front, the housings shatter, i restored one of these with 28k miles and made lots of improvements..

They were still hand pounding panels of some of their cars as late as the 1990s (the "Corniche").
@@antonycooke6402 not these ones, they were pressed from Leyland presses by 1980 with the Spirits
It's called both the Flying Lady and the Spirit of Ecstasy. Only the newer style of Rolls Royce's come with the V-12 all the late models where V-8

wtf is he talking about??? Hand built fenders?
Hi Tony can you let me know when another 1982 comes up?
@QFizzV8Fizz , this body type has manufactured with only V8 engines.

V8?, Isn't RRs V12s also 6,75 liter?
The v12 comes from BMW not R-R
georgeous car!! (what with the horrible soundtrack on the background, drives people nuts!)
i love it
Makes you wonder... Like maybe the odometer has turned over at 100,000 at least once.
They don't turn over-just keep on going up to 1,000,000 miles, all of which the car is capable of doing with proper maintenance.
This salesman is a total BS'er! He obviously knows nothing about Rolls Royces! So sad to see and hear, especially to us true collectors!😢

''Mulsanne'' is brandname for Bentley's, dude :)
Lol
Whoever owned this car only put 19,000 miles on it yet it needed to be repainted?
The paint is lacquer. That was all that was available then, and has a finite life, regardless of miles.
hey tony looks like you need to get your grouve on with that cute cupie doll stance.. You could probably sell me my own car…...keep up cool guy
He's a Zaddy
Rolls Royce "Merlin" engine???????? hahhaaha. Not in 1982!

No Merlin, that's for sure, but the famous V8 is a modern (much smaller) derivative of the old V12 aluminum, water-jacketed aero engine.
