Great work! However, it's not mould, its verdigris from the brass under the chrome. Its the copper in the brass reacting to atmoshperic moisture. Still needs to go!
Love it, Paul. Look forward to your update every week. Keep keeping us informed. Used to mess around with cars years ago ( too old now....). Love the way you attack them, and importantly the attention to detail. Keep it up!!!!
The service plate I believe is for the engineer that worked on the car to sign off (using scribe) when they service the car. Roll's Royce doing things levels above as always.
As a child, I'd always note where the secret compartments were on my Dad's cars. It's nice to know even us adults find that entertaining. I'm enthralled with all the little gems strewn about your car. Even as much as I dislike the endless intrusion of the omnipresent mobile telephone nowadays, that old analogue mobile gives your car such a period look. It's a nice piece of decoration! Your quest to find these little hidden secrets in your car is as good as driving it down a road that's new to you. Happy hunting! Aloha!
I think the plate in the boot is for service campaigns and recalls. Each box would have a number added to show the repair/update was completed. So, your car as had none!
Idea for you,do you know the White sponges come in pack of four or six. One sponge and some warm soapy water plus a cloth to wipe clean. Its cheaper and its quicker
Rolls Royce in Crewe had its own chroming shop.. Living locally as ive mentioned in the past, friends of mine who worked there used to get motorbike parts done in there... The foreman in the shop used to periodically check what was being done and snip the hanging wires.... Gone forever..
I thought you had a phone in there when you first turned the key in the ignition as there was a tone - I used to have the same tone in a 525 I had with a car phone (back in the day)
like all good ladies always got little secret compartment somewhere 😂 well that interior is looking good enough to eat your dinner off I wouldn't try it though it's too nice
Hi Paul. There are several of those service plates available on ebay. Most are blank like yours. My guess is that they would be punch stamped on each service, in case the service book was mislaid by one's chauffeur.
That Motorola is a GSM phone, they operated on the 900 and 1800 bands, as you say, 2G. Sadly the network is being closed down, 3G is mostly already dead... There is some good news though! Customers using the EE, Vodafone and O2 networks with an older device will still be able to make calls and send text messages after 3G switch-off. These services can use the 2G network, which isn’t being switched off yet. Currently O2 and Vodafone are still supporting 2G, but to test it you'd need a full size SIM card. Not impossible to do but you may have to have the later SIM module (where you pulled that SIM from, to allow it to connect.
Love this! Thats a proper nice colour and leather combo. Have to ask, what is going on with the animals?! sure I heard a cat meow, dog bark and something that was either a Peacock or a sad Seagull!
Morning Paul. The service plate is a main dealer engraving area for anti fake service recording. It cannot be copied by anyone. Hope this helps ? Charles DeVere Ribble Valley.

You’re quite right - it’s verdigris.
@juliansoper824 good to know !
Ditto. Typical of 3 layer plating exposed to prolonged high humidity conditions.
The connector is OBD1 and you can get convertors to fit and connect to an OBD2 reader

looks more like oxidisation than mould to me that? I wonder if they are copper with nickel chrome plate rather than brass?
cool mate❤
Penicillium is a common mold found on Chrome , you can use vinegar or lemon juice
I will give IT a try
i am pretty sure the phone is analogue. fingers crossed u can get some sort of adapter that can converts a digital sim to work with that handset
