      TheDailyWoo Just to let you know, they changed the chocolate tour back in 2016 to add the newly designed characters and add the cartoonish animals. It used to be a lot more professional and I think it was better that way.

      My wife and I visited Hershey last year, and we did the chocolate tour, just as you did.
      However, very near to Hershey is Gettysburg, so we also toured the civil war museums and battlefields. So next time you visit, I suggest that you check that out as well!

      Wow; that place was extravagant!! Many years ago I toured the Hershey's factory in northern California, but it was just a factory. It was still interesting; I love seeing that sort of stuff, but there was no ride or anything involved. I did however cave and buy a 24 pack of peanut butter cups while "exiting through the gift shop". You clearly had more self control than I did. :-)

      I was there in 1964 with my parents. The machinery was huge. They gave you a walking tour of the factory as it was producing chocolate bars complete with workers doing specific jobs. We had to walk within areas marked off by tape. The smell of cocoa was so strong it was almost nauseating. You did get a free Hershey's bar at the end of the tour. No Disney looking tours in those days

    My kid just walked in the room while I was watching this. His jaw practically hit the floor. While he was mesmerized by all the sugar I quietly booked a hotel room. I'm not even going to tell him. I'm just going to put him in the car and start driving.

      PRR I1sa they had a limited run on both a S'more and a peanut butter whatchamacallit. I remember a Mint Chocolate version as well. Was like a thin mint in a candy bar form and they used peppermint patty to make it. I vote they bring that one back.

    I grew up in PA and we'd go there all the time in the 80's and 90's. All of that bright cartoony stuff at the entrance is new. It used to just be a bunch of dark little shopping areas to buy things, but nothing for kids to do or look at. And no food places, just stores.
    For the ride, it was just the factory steps. None of the talking animals or candy bars or music or screens in your car.

    Wow, things sure have changed there! I remember in 1970 Grandpappy, Granny, Mom, Dad and I were able to tour the ACTUAL factory...I guess the factory is gone, now, but the ride looks cool. Also, they gave you a FULL size bar at the end. My Dad, a party pooper to the max, wouldn't go to the amusment park, though. Bucket list.

    • @documentmedic9385
      @documentmedic9385 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The factory is still there, but people can no longer take tours of it. When I was a kid, I heard a rumor that they got rid of the factory tours because people hept dropping things into the vats. I am not sure if that is true though. Officially they said that they stopped the factory tours because they could no longer accommodate the crowds that were coming to visit.

    OMG! There is very little left to the orginal tour from the 80's or 2001. The real moving machines mixing the chocolate and similar real machines showing the process like conveyer belts and also going through the Roaster are all that remain and even they might be new. No CGI talking candy bars. No screens at all. No animatronic cows that might come to life and try to kill you like in FNAF. Thank You Adam for making this video. One more thing. In the 80's they handed out full size Hershey bars. But in 2001 they were already only handy out the mini ones like you received.

    Of course the one time Adam the Woo comes to my area I'm on vacation. I have a season pass to Hershey Park, I'm usually there at least once a week during the summer. I can't believe how crowded it was the day you went, I've never seen a line that long for that ride. I always go for the free chocolate at the end!

    • @sportsygirl8
      @sportsygirl8 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's awesome!!! Are you a roller coaster person? If so what's your favorite there at Hershey Park. I go there twice a year since I live over 2 hours away.

    • @MeganWeller
      @MeganWeller 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      sportsygirl8 my favorite roller coaster there is probably Great Bear :) I also like the wooden coasters like the lightning racers. Not a huge fan of Skyrush or Farenheight, I hate the seats on Skyrush and the whole straight up/straight down thing on Farenheight isn’t really my thing. They are ok but since they’re newer the lines are usually longer. The newest roller coaster, Laugh Track, I like but it’s not worth it if the line is super long. Which one is your favorite?

    • @ethanyeckley1431
      @ethanyeckley1431 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Megan Weller I work at hershey park in storm runner group

    • @sportsygirl8
      @sportsygirl8 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is awesome!!! My favorite is Great Bear as well, I love how smooth it is. I like 2 of their wooden ones, not a fan of Wildcat that one I got off with bruises and a headache. I love Fahrenheit!!! I hate that the line is so long though. I also like SooperDooperLooper, one time I was in line for it and when the train came back to the station I see some kid being woke up by his dad...lol, so dad and I made the ride operators laugh when we were on it by cheering and being a bit obnoxious right before going into the station and then as it pulled into the station we both pretended we fell asleep, all the operators that saw us were giggling. I've never been on Skyrush based on people saying they don't like the restraints on it and crushes their thighs i don't have much desire to ride it. The straight up and straight down part of Fahrenheit tends to scare a lot of people or they don't like it because of that. I don't like the straight up part, but love the straight down part! I agree, I like Laugh Track, but it is not worth an hour wait in line. I like Storm Runner, but don't really like Sidewinder, I got whiplash on it last time I rode it.

    • @sportsygirl8
      @sportsygirl8 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's awesome, Ethan! I'm sure it's fun working Storm Runner seeing the emotions on people's faces before and after the ride.

    I've got deep Pennsylvania roots. Great grandfather worked at Hershey for 48 years. Would of been 50 but he served 2 years during WWII. He's buried at Fort Indiantown Gap. He used to tell me a lot of stories about working there. If this video was made 8 years ago. Where you stood at Cocoa and Chocolate Ave would of smelled like chocolate. Hershey knocked down the factories and outsourced it to Mexico.

      Ol Milton Snavely probably rolled over in his grave when they let almost 1600 employees go, knocked down the factory and shipped the jobs south of the border. Idk who runs the board now. But memory serves that a lot of people on the board were fired. Heard about some embezzlement and a few other things going on. The trust that oversees the Milton Hershey School slammed the piggy bank on somebody's sticky fingers.

    Oh wow they've updated the ride sibmbce we last went a couple years ago. The cars with the screens are new. There used to be an animatronic cow in that barn window at the beginning of the ride. Looks so empty now. Do the cows still sing "Its the milk chocolate "?
    Had that song in my our head for days after. Lol

    Willy Wonka would be jealous.
    I guess Milton knew in the back of his mind that going on the Titanic would be a VERY bad idea.

    Pretty cool. I wonder if that's real molten chocolate in the tour ride, like the kisses and other packaged stuff, and if any of it is ever used in the factory for distribution/consumption.

      Oh ok I thought it was probably something like that, they can easily just make non-edible "props" of everything for repeated use.

    I don't know why and I don't understand it but I've heard many British people say that they think Hershey chocolate tastes like wax. I "do not" agree with them on that! In fact, I have never found any brand or type of chocolate that I do not like. I love chocolate! Hershey Special Dark chocolate is my favorite though. Toblerone's are good. I even like white chocolate. I like to eat non-sweetened chocolate. LOL Thanks for uploading this video!
