I don't think Tim realizes the Chinese mug is a racist joke. And I don't think anyone would be offended by the mug in the context of this show, Tim's a good guy.
@@AussieArcade I don't think the 'SJW Brigade' would ever come after Tim Rowett. It would only hurt their cause. That and bigots are not known for being culturally fluent, which Tim is (relatively speaking).

why is "Irish mug" even offensive? Ethnically Brits and Irish are pretty damn similar. I don't think the Canadians get offended by Americans when we make a joke at them, and vice versa.
The title of this video reminds me of an old Peanuts animated holiday special (It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and It's Christmas, Charlie Brown and the like). And with Halloween around the corner, it's safe to say that sort of naming scheme is more than appropriate and appropriately seasonal. I love it.
Honestly it makes total sense to have bad jokes and politically incorrect stuff on a coffee mug. Something that makes you smile in the morning with your coffee helps a lot. And you're not going to offend anybody in your own kitchen so the market encourages outrageous coffee cups.
At 8:36 a mug with your image (from the intro I think) was moved to the side. I thought you would return to it, but did not. I was wondering why that one was skipped over.
You know what I'm going to say it Tim is my favorite guy ever. Time for America and UK to have a sit-down conversation him with his hot lemon tea me with my Bud Light that conversation will just go on for days
here's something about that chinese mug... way back in the day, like around the late 1800s, there used to be a myth/joke that chinese women's, uh, hoohoos were horizontal, not vertical like a hoohoo is. i think that's the "joke" about the mug. no offense to Tim, of course, as it's a very obscure joke these days.
That's what I figured, too. I don't even remember where I originally heard that joke but I know it was when I was a kid. It's amazing how that joke still persists over a century later (though, I'm sure it's dying out).
What I love about this series is that he can explain all the items he wants as anyone else can, but I don’t have to say, “cool” or “awesome” or “okay”. I can just enjoy the presentation:)
I think the Irish mug should be kept as it is. Nowhere else on the planet. Will they understand what we do about the thousands, of years, of conflict between our islands. Our history is such that you can have an northern Englishman who has Irish and Scottish parents. Whose grandparents were from Wales. We do not say these things to one another out of malice and hatred anymore, at the moment. Lol. But we do say them out of jest and humility. So let's keep it as is.
The mug with the double handle could be for people with some disabilities or diseases that can't hold a normal cup steady. It gives you a firmer grip I think. Just a thought
Tip for anyone with mugs that change due to heat, don't put them in the dishwasher. It'll scrub the material away. I now have a mug that's already 'half-changed' at all times now.

As a German I never thought that mug and cup is a different thing...
As an American i can agree
In Dutch a mug is a "kop" and a cup a "kopje". But we call a mug a "bak" sometimes: "Mag ik een bak koffie van jou?"
I suppose a German equivalent would be a Tasse for more sophisticated cups and Becher for more ordinary mugs.
