I tested one a couple of weeks back. Yes the 13 is (maybe) a bit quicker when extended but that isn`t my riding style nor is it the reason folk generally buy GS`s. The 13 engine is rough, coarse and does not feel refined at all - the engine sound is dreadful with a cacophony of rattles knocks and whines, the exhaust note muted. It sounds like a neglected push-along lawnmower. I`ve been on two 13`s and both had poor gearbox feel. Not an inspiring experience at all. The suspension is too firm - it`s an adventure bike not a sports bike. Overall it felt rather clincal and inert lacking in any character. I am really surprised at all the reviews saying how much better it is. I was interested in what i thought of my 1250 when i got back on it and can honestly say i much prefered it - smoother, quieter, better throttle feel and with a lovely pop and burble on the overrun which the 13 does not have. Overall the 1250 just feels `friendlier` and is much more of a comfortable, rounded pleasant ride that just feels `right` When you consider the cost to change it`s a no from me, i`m keeping my 1250. And then there`s the 13`s looks.......

Stick for the time being. I’ll likely change my 23 GSA in a couple years time. Maybe for the 1300GSA or possibly the new 1390 SAS from KTM. I think your feeling about ‘significant’ power and acceleration improvements between the 1250 and 1300 boxer are largely illusory. There are various side by side tests of the 1250 and 1300 GS online - acceleration wise, there’s nothing in it. In fact, the 1250 is slightly quicker 0-100kph and also in top gear roll on. The 1300GSA is a very nice machine for sure, but let’s not get too carried away with performance differences (4% more torque and 8% more power).
I’ve been looking at the KTM and sounds like marmite again - u like them but from looking around given reliability rumours - who knows the real truth ? But dealer support can be varied again don’t really know. Great value bike though 👍. Performance wise I hear what you say re the numbers but perception is the pick up is a lot quicker

I have ordered a 1300 GSA Tripple Black, full option, but without the adaptive cruise control, with the double Akra. trade in my 22 Full option GSA. Costs of the 1300 GSA €33500,-
Stick. I also have a ‘22 triple black. They initially offer 12-12.5? No way. You’ve got a beauty there and it’s got a ton of useful extras and really, no mileage - ride the wheels off it. A full spec ‘25 (without ASA) to replace what I have including luggage and nav comes in at around US $35K out the door. Insane. My ‘22 is just fine, thank you.
Looks like the one you road had the standard seat but set on high. I get what you mean regarding the difference, it’s huge. I was quoted £7k for my 1250GS against a 1300GSA.
£7k 😳. Height was set to auto - I should have had a play with that in retrospect as I didn’t really feel the seat height kicking in but I guess that’s the idea 👍
I stuck. Been riding R bikes with only a few departures since 1998. I currently own 2019 R1250RT and all told, 352,000k miles on BWM motos., yet at age 73 I feel my 2016 GSA and my 2019 RT are my last two Beemers! Too expensive for me!
Great review,im hoping to get a ride on one when my 1250 goes in for a service. If you do trade your bike in remove all the extra,s and sell them separately. That will be recouping some cost. However,i believe the 1250 is a classic and if you still enjoy riding it why change.ive owned mi e for 2 years and done about 7k on it.i would like to think i will own it for at least a couple more years.
Had a 19 plate 1250gsa from new, standard height, 4 yrs later i could have had one of the first 1300's, alas a brand new 1250gsa triple black was right behind the first 1300 in the showroom, and that sold the 1250 again to me, but like you a low height version, i just can't love the new 1300 headlight, the 1250 gsa still knocks out the park for me, the 1300 may have a better/faster but noiser engine, but if i wanted a sportsbike i'd buy one, i'm sticking with my 1250 gsa for 3 years, but it'll stay a lot longer if that headlight doesn't change, and may lead to me leaving the brand.... we'll see...
Aha ! I’ve watched your videos and love your channel - just realised I hadn’t subscribed - just done it 👍. I think you’ll twist - I think it’s definitely the way forward and something I’m interested in testing.

Hey Have a 1250 GSA triple black just like The Ramblin mans & suffered badly with wind blast (6.2ft/ aria tour lid) tried the following: Large Puig, Std smaller GS screen, MRA with integrated deflector, stock GSA with deflector added. Best = stock GSA with add on deflector, second is the MRA. Everyone’s different but a deflector is worth a shot. Hope this helps.
Stick, I would wait until two or three years and buy a low mileage used one, there will always be nice examples approved used stock once the novelty has worn off and they increase the capacity or something down the line which will make the 2024 onwards dated.
I’m in the same boat as you with an identical 1250 GSA. I will not be changing to the 1300 because: 1. The 1300 is noisier with transmission whine and engine clatter - I’m almost prepared to bet that the next incarnation will be quieter (as they’ve done this before) your video picks up the noise well. 2. The upgrade cost is more than twice what I have paid in the past from a 2 year old to a new. 3. The looks haven’t grown on me enough.
Thanks for the video. This new GSA is what the wonders of evolution do, bringing beautiful novelties in our direction. The engine of the new GS generation is fantastic and now IMO ahead again, of the direct competition, the bike is powerful and agile for the weight it carries. It’s proper fast with this new engine! But I have to say that your bike looks very sharp well equipped and still is like a child . So, to trade it now would be, I guess, a serious pain. 10.000 miles on the odometer is nothing on this type of machine. I know that all the new tech is tempting. The ASA is very good and on a bike like this makes every sense, with the luggage and passenger would be a great benefit to the relax of the ride, plus the adaptive cruise control with the blind spot monitoring device, are undoubtedly important upgrades to comfort and security, for longer rides or when going through the city traffic. These are precious electronics aids. The question is, looking at the speed how technology is evolving , manufacturers will keep on improving every year their machines and we can be sucked into that money drain if we don’t stabilize when odds still favor us 🤔 That’s just a thought . Thanks for confirming that the new GSA 1300 is worth it!
I have a feeling that if you had removed your panniers and top box (not to mention your other farkles), you would have found the acceleration and handling differences almost negligible... stick stick stick... not worth the additional cost.
That 1250 probably has a couple of grand of after market kit on it so maybe strip that off it and 12 to 13 maybe about right. Stick keep it a couple of more years then twist for one that’s not new.
I have a 70 plate 1250 gsa I will change to a 1300 gsa triple black forged wheels in the future but at the moment mines to good to change. I’ve had it from new 👌16000 happy miles.
I wish the beak was a little pointy like the 1250, but overall I’m ok with the design. I might be inclined to trade my 1250 GSA for a 1300 GSA before Trump kills us with import tariffs. Btw, what’s your inseam? Mine is 29”, but hoping the ride height feature will help me with stopping. Will go for a demo ride in the next couple of weeks.
Enjoy the test ride. I’m a 30.5” inseam and on the regular 1300 GSA I was on the balls of my feet. There are three options of variable ride height. 1 Normak, 2 is Lower and the third takes it lower still which is called comfort. There are additional seats too so there’s a solution out there 👍. For me I like to be flat footed at a stop especially 2 up.
Stick. You have at least 2.5-3k of extras, and you will have to replace them all. That coupled with the loss you will take on trade-in will be a big hit in the wallet. Earlier this year I was looking to trade my 2018 1200 gs fora 1300. Instead i traded for a 1250gs with 300 miles on the clock. Swapped my Panniers / racks and all my farkles straight over to the new bike!
Good thinking Mike and similar to what my mate Peter did who features in the tour videos / he swapped a 1250gs for a newer 1250gs and looking to get a 1300 gsa later next year. Thanks for your feedback 👍
Its now at a price level that is quite ridiculous - despite how well it may go. Its a no for me. And the looks..... dont think I will change my mind on those. Finally, 1250 is still brilliant and more than most people need in reality 😉
Well they are expensive, but when I use the configurator and put everything on it and compare that to my 2023 1250 GS Adeventure, it’s rather comparable. When I add the new electronic gadgets, the price goes up a bit, but without those the difference is just around €1k.
Seems like a nice bloke, seems like a sensible bloke but that last 5 minutes totally summarises the sadness of motorcyclist and their thinking these days. He's got a cracking bike and rather than think about where he'd go on it, be route planning, trip planning or actually going somewhere of interest and enjoying it, he's thinking through PCP deals, how to justify a pointless change of machine and all because BMW have released the next part of their 10 year rolling plan to change models. The answer is, when you've got between 80 and 100k on the clock and there's the potential you might need to spend a bit of money on it (and it will only be the potential), then consider a change. Enjoy and ride what you've got and ignore what the marketing boys tell you that you need.
@@martinpotts3460 great feedback Martin and you are spot on - I’ve been sucked in over the years to changing to the latest greatest because I’m fortunate enough that I can - but this has taught me a lesson. @@PeterFearon-g8q Great minds 👍. I think you’re right about the pricing become more equal. I did think about the Hex GS911 but at the time it only did the front lights - I should have waited👍. Thanks for the feedback.
So does that mean just the middle light as the stop tail and the indicators are just indicators ?
@@chrishart8548 no the lights remain on but say you indicate to go left the left hand red light goes out and just the indicator is on. Equally when you brake the centre brake light and right hand indicator stalk lights up as brake lights but not the left hand indicator - it’s just the indicator. Have a look on A BIke Thing or GSD321 look for Weiser Mods

I have ordered a 1300 GSA Tripple Black, full option, but without the adaptive cruise control, with the double Akra. trade in my 22 Full option GSA. Costs of the 1300 GSA €33500,-
Enjoy 👍
Stick definitely, yours sounds so much better. Tried the 1300 just did not like the rattling engine noise, sounds like a bag of spanner’s
@@philipchesters2824 Bag of spanners 🤣. Must admit it does clatter a lot 👍
To right Philip 😅
Great feedback thank you 👍
Looks like the one you road had the standard seat but set on high.
@ not the ride height but the actual seat, it has different settings like the 1250. Where as the non adventure 1300 GS only has the one position.
@@barryjohn7765 Ah, got it 👍
I stuck. Been riding R bikes with only a few departures since 1998. I currently own 2019 R1250RT and all told, 352,000k miles on BWM motos., yet at age 73 I feel my 2016 GSA and my 2019 RT are my last two Beemers! Too expensive for me!
Wow tremendous mileage and hat’s off you. Keep on riding 👍. Thanks for your feedback
Makes sense to stick but, if you were to twist, take all the extras off the 1250 - they must be worth close too £2000 second hand
Sounds like you nailed it - great decision. I’m with you I think - maybe a brand change eventually which is disappointing. Thanks for the feedback 👍
Great video, that’s a big cost to change, but… I am testing again the GSA this week this time with the auto ASA, will I stick or twist?
Aha ! I’ve watched your videos and love your channel - just realised I hadn’t subscribed - just done it 👍. I think you’ll twist - I think it’s definitely the way forward and something I’m interested in testing.
@ ohh thank you… who knows what I will do, I certainty don’t as like you £15k is a lot of dough…
How do you find that screen? My standard 1 give me sooooo much windblast in the chest. Do you have a link to the screen and the brackets ? Thanks
@@JakeStrada this screen is much better - after lot of research - can’t remember but found it by just Google search and went for the largest one - screen brace I think I got from Nippy Normans - definitely need the screen brace
Hey
Have a 1250 GSA triple black just like The Ramblin mans & suffered badly with wind blast (6.2ft/ aria tour lid) tried the following: Large Puig, Std smaller GS screen, MRA with integrated deflector, stock GSA with deflector added.
@@EnglishNomadLife thanks for commenting - makes sense 👍
I’m in the same boat as you with an identical 1250 GSA. I will not be changing to the 1300 because: 1. The 1300 is noisier with transmission whine and engine clatter - I’m almost prepared to bet that the next incarnation will be quieter (as they’ve done this before) your video picks up the noise well. 2. The upgrade cost is more than twice what I have paid in the past from a 2 year old to a new. 3. The looks haven’t grown on me enough.
Good points and yep double the expected cost to change normally - however I did fully spec the bike but luggage is now £2k ish 😢
Great feedback thank you 👍
Stick, i am keeping my 2021 R1250GS
i have none or the money and ths 1250 was always my dream bike and now they ended it! maybe one day ill get a 2nd hand 1250..
Stick with your bike it's a lovely bit of kit 👍👍👍
Thank you 🙏
I ordered also triple black asa….trading my 23 trophy
@@wimh9737 enjoy 👍
Very wise indeed!! You could buy a new 900GS for the price of that trade in!
That’s a good thought 👍. Thanks for your feedback
Bonkers !!! money , same here in N.I. Oh buy a beemer they hold their value my arse , you done the right thing .
👍
Spot on!!
1250 for life
I have a feeling that if you had removed your panniers and top box (not to mention your other farkles), you would have found the acceleration and handling differences almost negligible... stick stick stick... not worth the additional cost.
Stick, no doubt in my mind...
That 1250 probably has a couple of grand of after market kit on it so maybe strip that off it and 12 to 13 maybe about right. Stick keep it a couple of more years then twist for one that’s not new.
Good thinking Ian and pretty much where my head is at 👍. Thanks for the feedback 👍
I have a 70 plate 1250 gsa I will change to a 1300 gsa triple black forged wheels in the future but at the moment mines to good to change. I’ve had it from new 👌16000 happy miles.
Twist!
stick .as you have a great bike and the new one is just because its new ,
I wish the beak was a little pointy like the 1250, but overall I’m ok with the design.
Good summary thanks for the feedback 👍
Well they are expensive, but when I use the configurator and put everything on it and compare that to my 2023 1250 GS Adeventure, it’s rather comparable. When I add the new electronic gadgets, the price goes up a bit, but without those the difference is just around €1k.
@@sphyrnidus Fair comment 👍
Stick. I love my 1250 adv (22). You don't need anything more than driving time;). And the sound of the 1300 is just awful. Wait until they fix the bugs we are seeing - there are already 5 service actions Probably need a year, maybe two for all the fixes with gs 1300 / adv.
Stick all day long, especially with the kit you have on yours. I've a 2019 r1250gsa hp with 7000mls on it and wouldn't part with it even if I could afford to.

Just remember the more miles you do on the 1250 the less you are going to get , once you go over 20,000 miles no one will want to touch your bike as nice as it is !! I was in the same boat and bit the bullet, haven't looked back as the 1300 is by far a better bike in every department!!
