It sounds way better than stock. It’s not going to blow you out of your seat, but you will enjoy those low bass lines now. Great upgrade!

Great video, looking forward to this little project....however, I have one critique.I used to do alot of installs and one thing I learned the hard way; Never, ever, ever..put everything back together before making sure the speakers are functioning.
Get low profile JBL speakers with thin custom boxes and you can have 2 8s in there...it is amazing....I have it in my truck...plus room for a smaller amp back there too

the wire harness should be in behind the c pilar plastic. one of the other youtube vids showed it. it is a pain in the ass to get to but it should be there.

I don’t understand why you cannot wire to the radio signal and still have the auto start/off still engaged? Granted it’s more work to tap into the radio but it would be ideal if someone really benefits from the fuel economy.
I imagine it’ll be hard to see the truck leave after putting so much time into it
This video was perfect timing. I just installed one on my 2020 F-150 XLT.
The toughest part was getting the wire through the firewall. Took me about four hours. Sounds great!
How much sound quality does it ass to the truck? is it worth the money??

It really does. I actually had to turn the base down a little. I’m happy with my purchase.
just open up a wire coat hanger and send it through the grommet under the dash. Find it in the engine compartment and make a small hook on the end. Tape any wire you want to send through the grommet and pull it through. It helps if you have someone feeding the wire in while you pull it.

The B&O is great but the kicker will bang harder for sure
B&O is pretty awful so this Kicker upgrade should be an improvement. My 2019 Ford SD has the B&O stereo and it's the worst radio I've had since my 1997 GMC. No real bass at all. My 2014 Ram had Alpine and that was an above average factory radio in my opinion.
I sure hope its better, my B&O doesnt sound all that great with bass

Do you have to mess with Forscan to use with a 2019 XLT? Mine just has a 6 speaker stereo, it does have the larger factory head unit.

So on my 2022 xlt it has the bo sound system what would I need to hook it up, some videos say I need a adapter plug

I have a 22 F150 Tremor. Getting my dealership to throw one of these Kicker units in for me since I do not have the B&O system. Do you recommend upgrading the factory speakers as well or will they be ok with this installed? I’m not looking for crazy audio…just want an upgrade over stock.

Anybody know if this will work with an aftermarket stereo installed? I don't see why it wouldn't but I was just wondering if anyone knew for sure.
I have this sub on my 2016 F150 XLT. I don’t have start/stop but every time I open/close a door (with the truck off) or shut the truck off, a few minutes later the sub “ bumps”. I’ve called Kicker and they have no fix/solution for this issue.
Does anyone else has the same issue?

I installed it on my 2016 F150 and it was plugged and play. Sounds far better than any b&o factory system I have heard.
@@offroad605 hey Craig, does this drain your battery since there’s no remote wire? How does the amp shut off?
@RSfolls it never drained my battery. It is wired inline with the factory harness behind the radio. I'm sure the Amp either shuts off with the ignition or no sound coming from the speaker wires. I had it for years and never had a dead battery.

Does anyone know what the two tapped wires are? the White and the White with the Brown Stripe.
They have to be speaker wires. The subwoofer has to get an audio signal from somewhere. I'm looking at a wiring diagram on Mitchell ProDemand for a 2020 F150, and from what I'm seeing, the left front speaker positive is the white wire, the left front negative is white with a brown stripe. There's obviously going to be a crossover in the sub to filter out the high frequencies, but without an audio feed, the sub won't produce anything.
Wouldnt it be easier just too tap from the speakers on the back doors ?

"Auto start / stop"... The #1 reason to download FORScan and disable that system completely, as I did on my 2020 F150. Best 10 bucks I ever spent.

@@carloszamora1128 FORScan is available online, but in order to use some features, you'll need to purchase the extended license, which is like 10 dollars for a year.

@@Thalor What do you mean "is it mobile?" My truck? Yeah, it runs fine. If you're talking about FORScan, there's a lite version of it on the Google play store, but chances are you can't do a whole lot with it. I run FORScan on my laptop with the extended license and have all the full functionality of the program. In my opinion, the extended license is absolutely worth paying for.
This install is usually for the xlt and below trims? My lariat currently had the factory subwoofer.
So, what was the point in cutting the larger squares of carpet? Seems pointless. Why not just cut small holes where the mounting holes should be?
It’s to allow for the plate to seat firmly against the truck bed and also for the holes on the top bracket line up .
How does the install differ on a 2017?

Mine did not come with a wiring harness for the wire taps as shown in the video. Instead it has 3 wires with pin plugs for behind the stock radio. Will this setup work on a 2018 XLT Sport?
Noah, Can I hook the power line to the Upfitter switches so I can turn the Sub off when my dogs are riding in the back? And will this fit a F250 XLT? My stock system sounds like magnets taped to paper plates!
I been lookin for the subwoofer and is not for sale in your website no more so I been looking for this subwoofer and I see this two that look the same but have different part number VKL3Z-18808-A and VGL3Z-18808-A my truck is a 2019 f150 lariat any one that can tell me wich one should I buy ??
VGL3Z-18808-A is more for trucks that have the connector in the rear (WPT1212)
VKL3Z18808A is for truck that don’t have the connector in the rear and have start/stop feature

What about the programming? That sub will not work by simply hooking it up and turning it on. The radio has to be programmed to send a pathway to the sub does it not?
I believe you're talking about enabling the factory sub connector that's under the rear door. This kit gets it's inputs by tapping into the left front door speaker. I think the front door speakers are "full signal", so plenty of bass. I've read that you don't want to tap into the rear door speakers, because they don't have a full spectrum signal from the radio like the front door speakers do.
Hi, I planning to add it to my 2019 F150 but I wondering to know if after forscan programing the head unit will include an extra feature to control the subwoofer level, currently from the head unit I can control the levels for Trebles, Mid and Bass. I think after programing should appear one control exclusively for the subwoofer level, am I right?

According to the kicker website, it's out of stock, and it's not available from stage 3 either. Either there's a ridiculously high demand for these things or they pulled the plug on production due to some unforeseen product flaw. Guess time will tell.

I see that you sell an auto start-stop disable kit, part #1038810. If I install this, will this eliminate the problem with the subwoofer turning off at a stop without the kit?

Great presentation, one of the best I have seen and heard.
I installed this last weekend in my 2020 F150 XLT. I was amazed at how easy and how well the whole thing was to install. I'm not a huge audiophile, but it sounds really good to me. I had the base speaker system, so it sucked before the install and now sounds a lot better. Kicker's written instructions sucked, but your video made the install super easy. Thanks much for the video and the product!
