This was really helpful, every other video I found had no camera focus and I couldn't see what they were doing. Not only did you have good camera angles but you added info to the all data which really helped too. Thank God for people like you. You have a new subscriber
I had the same exact error codes on the same exact car, salvage too. I went to different mechanics and they said the MAF sensor and O2 sensor are bad… I wanted them to dive deeper by doing a smoke test after watching your video they looked at me crazy like a novice. Finally a professional like yourself comes in and performs a smoke test, turns out my intercooler is the problem. Unbelievable.
And if you said " will it fix the car " ? When it doesn't , they start with lies , excuses and then cry when you demand your money back ! " Those parts were bad anyway "

I had a similar situation on a 2015 caddy. Same exact crack. I think it a weak spot. First thing pops after accident but not enough for a shop to notice and replace. Your equinox also was involved in an accident. I believe that bumper is painted. Thanks Brian.

Huge help. I noticed oil from the passenger side of my 2018 Equinox recently also. . No codes or noticeable drop in performance yet but I'm about 99% sure its the intercooler leaking. so I'll be doing this repair soon before it gets really bad. Seems to be a common failure point on these vehicles. Plastic parts for something that important doesn't help the situation at all. I have a smoke machine and will confirm my suspicion with it once I have the bumper off like you did.
I have the exact same car color and all. It had a code of P0101 as well, the dealership said it was the throttle body. Another auto shop said it is the Mass air flow sensor so I’m going to change the Mass air flow sensor first and see if that resolves the issues. Dealership quoted me $1800 to change the throttle body.
My wife has the same car the same issues. My mechanic can't figure it out. Wondering if it could be something similar to what you fixed in this equinox?

Could you please let me know where thevMAP sensor is located in this car and how to remove it. Obd2 reads 56 kpa when the engine is on but not running which I think is low since barometric pressure here is 101 kpa, much appreciated

Ive got this low power situation right now. I was wondering about the tubes, my passenger side one i can wiggle the tube a little on the joint. Is it normal to be wiggly like that?

Wow!! I wonder if the charger inter cooler is just a bad design. I've had same issue with my 1.5 malibu. Ive tested everything and came up with nothing. I don't have a smoker in my arsenal so i gotta find a smoker to see if i can spot a leak somewhere. Ive literally been chasing my tail. This video shines light on something i haven't looked into. The video is awesome and very informative. Please continue making them. Would you be able to tell us if there are any recalls or TSB about the intercooler being faulty? We'd all appreciate it.

Nice video. New sub. I have most of those codes. Had throttle body cleaned by chevy and it ran worse😕 Changed the MAF and its better but still not out of woods. I want to change a sensor everytime i get paid. My engine light comes on @ 65mph but it still runs okay. It's when i build up speed when it acts jerky. My codes are 0101, 0299,0506,059F,1101,U01B0,0299,059F,1101,U01B0

Hey Brian quick question I have 2018 Chevy equinox 2.0 later I would like to know I was watching a video and I see that you’ve changed the intercooler for the vehicle they had a video about is that 1.5 L or 2.0 L

The engine in this video is visibly ID'd as the 1.5L engine.
How much that smoke machine rub you? I have an old redline from like 2007 the smoke has gradually died out even with different fluids

That's called a latching strip either overbooked or damaged not caught in accident

Turns out after closer inspection the one corner looks like it was hit / damaged tabs, i am thinking that over time with a few tabs not holding it stresses the others and then let go.

In 2000 gal got to stealing my money didn't know I wS going broke from her stealing thought maybe lack of work, any way 2 weeks in jail out 4 days for gd behavior, 50 thoasand stolen, took four years to prove. In Illinois statue of limitations 3 yrs.
Anyway 20 yrs later cars hv changed so much and information is so much more abundant than it was in 1990. I've learned alot from u and scanner Danner eric o Ivan my guys I watch in Texas eric and oz mechanics I thank u. I had to sell all my tools in 2000 and got most of them back.
