    Good video quick question how does anyone clean out the lead trays when you're building the gables and I have never seen water come out of a weep holes thanks

    • @Tone_Team
      @Tone_Team  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Before building gables a cavity tray should be installed so bottom of the tray is a minimum of 300mm above the bottom of the truss. With good cavity protection and cleaning trays in each lift the trays do and will work! Weep vents quite often need a poke to clean them out

      @@walshjames1020 It does not stop the water running down the back of the bricks and going into space below. Not so critical on a garage but if they room below is a living space, such as a bay window, porch or something then cavity trays should be installed

    Put them in last week but had no truss & joiner's wouldn't make me a pattern spar so had to follow the tray guide. Brick should go on tray dry as well not bedded.

      Trays need to be bedded on and bricks bedded on tray mate, not dry bed the brick

  • @Kmont-m2u
    @Kmont-m2u ปีที่แล้ว +4

    We keep it around 180mm above truss line!
    Also cut a 25mm strip of expansion foam to put under the tray same level as mortar bed under the tray then the roofer pulls that out and slides his lead in!

    • @Tone_Team
      @Tone_Team  ปีที่แล้ว

      We try to use the trays with the foam built in that the roofer can pull out when he comes to lead the trays but they aren't always available. 180mm seems quite a bit, does the lead man ever moan about the amount of lead upstand? Tile depth obviously comes into it and I don't know what tile you are using so not saying you are wrong 👍🏻

      The dori block is from BT Engineering but they aren't out just yet. George gave me a couple to sample, hence we didn't know what we were doing 🤣We do not build any bay windows, garage abutments or another other abutment without a dummy truss at worse, most of the times we try to get the real truss. If there is no dummy, the lift gets left until there is one 👍🏻

    • @TTV-blit
      @TTV-blit ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Tone_Team we have garden rooms attached after so the front is still and apex steel the. The joiners build to that so it’s hard to get the right tray form when there isn’t any dummy frames

      @@TTV-blit Nothing worse when nothing to build to, virtually impossible to get them right! Can't you rack away until you at least have a guide? • @TTV-blit

    That starter tray doesn’t work out right…to the other side of the lead you’ll have 3 straight perps to the left of lead only way it works is course higher or lower … unfortunately it didn’t work out did it only way that would of worked was reverse bond in the footings have had to do these things before to make things work right up above at least you’ll know on the next to set it out right

    • @Tone_Team
      @Tone_Team  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There is one straight joint where the starter tray is that can't be odds, one course up or down and the tray is in the wrong place. Important thing is the tray is in correct position, bond works it self out

    • @johngarthwaite4051
      @johngarthwaite4051 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Obviously it cant be course higher or lower …just saying the bond needed to be reversed for it to work and no bond works it’s self out its not on a fitness regime….it’s still set out wrong…. Let’s put it another way if you’ve got to build another house of them anyone in there right mind would reverse the bond from the house you’re building now and you know damn well there’d be no problem like you’ve shown
