Too bad this version isn't available on Amazon music. I hope they add it someday. Too many people especially younger generations are missing out on this gem. Way better than the album version in my opinion..
I was listening to the actual recording when they did this on air . This was the version KROQ played . I never heard the other version with the strings until recently.
There are several live videos from the Kill Uncle Tour. Live In Dallas Live at Hammersmith Odeon Live At Shoreline Ampitheatre. I don’t think he was playing it anymore at Shoreline concert. He also preformed it live on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

Agreed! I thought of the words “sing your life” and remembered this song. I looked it up and listened to the other version. I thought it was awful. This morning I woke up with the song in my head and decided to listen again. This was the gem I remember from my youth.
