Mike has been playing the guitar since he was 12 years old, and from that first moment his love affair with music and the instrument began. Fresh out of school at the age of 16 he attended the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford and completed a year-long Diploma course.
After finishing the ACM his life as a full time musician began, playing in numerous bands and touring up and down the country playing iconic venues such asThe Shepherds Bush Empire, The Astoria, The Underworld and London’s Jazz Café. He’s also been fortunate enough to support industry legends Paul Weller, Blondie and Katie Melua.
Mike’s session work has led to his working on a variety of projects - from performing with stars such as Ricky Wilson and Diana Vickers, to appearing in many TV shows and adverts. Mike loves being on stage performing, but is equally at home recording in a studio - where he has worked with Alex Von Soos (All Saints, Seal, Atomic Kitten), Mike Horner (The Prodigy, Shakira, Bloc Party), and Mike Chapman (Blondie, Suzi Quatro)

I put together my dream early 60s spec Strat in October, and swore I'd never need to do another one, I felt like I was done. February rolled around and I did another, and I recently started on another, haha. The next one is always the last one.

I'm on my third strat build, going for a blonde '66, just got the Brazilian for the finger board and it's inky black goodness!.
I love the tone of Mike’s new guitar. His description of “organic” is quite fitting. You can tell how much he loves that guitar by the uninhibited way he let loose with his playing. It was a real treat to hear that incredible style of his.

It’s the kind of clean sound that I really love. Came here trying to figure out what they do to get that rough looking rough feeling neck, that I once felt on a Haar Tele, and it really stuck with me.

Back in 1997 i had a tele built here in Adelaide south Australia by a great luthier name Brian West from Fretco through the years I’ve bought many other telecasters some custom shop one 1967 original and some vintage series i love them all but i always come back to the 97 west so i know exactly what you mean you like what you like good show

Really sounds excellent. My kind of strat: clarity but depth and not thin-sounding. I hate quacky thin-sounding pickups, especially on strats. Regarding the look, the rosewood fretboard goes really well with the sunburst. Excellent purchase Mike! 🥰👏🏻🍾

Thank you Mike. Yeah it’s a fun guitar the Bradcaster and was a good learning experience, I will still play it as it’s good to have the humbucker, but there is definitely things I would change about it.

Can definitely relate. My dream Strat would be almost identical but with slightly diff eg i like the big CBS era headstock and modern radius. Yours looks and sounds 👌 👍 fantastic!

To be honest , for me your playing on this guitar is the best I’ve heard , almost like there’s less notes and more pauses between notes . Beautiful tone and playing. It’s funny, I was at Denmark sr a few weeks ago enquiring about getting new pick ups for my 20yr old strat . The guy said the Lola pickups are excellent and gave me a Tele that had the nearest sound of a Lola pickup .
Man , I’ve never been a Tele man but if I’d have had the £1200 in my bank I would have brought it there and then .

There’s a buzz I get from watching a guy zone out on his dream. And what a great tone that guitar has. Beautiful. But the last Strat ? Famous last words I said in 2008 with my 1982 AVRI ‘57. I still have it, but I’ve also acquired a Vintage 2 ‘61, & a Strat Pro 2 since. 🤭 Never say never. Your superb playing is also an excellent showcase for your new Strat. Subscribed for more. 👍

What's medium action for you, mate? I usually set my guitars at 1.5mm, 1.90 for the low E, I can't stand low action in fact. I also switched to 9's on my Fenders when I keep 10's in the Gibsons, which gauge are you using?
I need to actually measure them, I just go by feel. I can’t stand low action as when bending strings, I struggle to get a good grip on the string of it’s to low.
