In combat we used 782 harness with 6 mag pouches, 4 canteens, pen flare, strobe light, kbar,compass-map, butt bag with first aid & misc gear. Flak vest and ALICE with 4-6 bandoliers rifle ammo, 2 belts 60 ammo, smoke grenades, frag grenades, at least 1 claymore, 1 radio PRC77 battery, chow and 2qrt water. The only room for personal stuff was in the top flap. Add the rifle & .45 pistol and our gear topped out around 100 lbs total.

not only that! 240+rounds of 5.56 ammunition, 2 canteens and a camelback for water, 2-3 grenades, flares, and extra ammunition!
@stuntmanmike714 The Marines are also fighting in A-stan. Their current bases in A-stan are Camp Dwyer, Camp Leatherneck, Camp Rhino, FOB Delhi, FOB Delaram, Fiddler's Green, FOB Geronimo, Kandahar International Airport and PB Jaker. Marines do as much as soldiers, maybe even more...
The USMC needs the iotv cause of its features its gonna be more comfy for marines.It has quick release and us army does need that theyre on land base operations.Marines are all and they need it the most especially for amphibious missions

out of everything the kevlar helmet is probably the most weight for the mass it covers

Looks like she was still missing ammo, water, soft kevlar in the vest, SAPI plates, boots and an M16A4 service rifle. You're looking around 70 lbs. of basic gear. Not counting a pack. Civilians just don't understand.

@jack2of4spades Well nevermind about my comment I found out what armor is usen(MTV) and they do Amphibious Ops ,you expect Marine to invade a country and fight lol.Today there still are Amphib Ops go into the MEU in Okinawa most missions given are amphib

Over a decade later, all this gear has been replaced and the load has been lightened significantly, and we still look like pack mules trudging around. Maybe some day they'll get serious about mobility.

this shit is never used for deployment in Afghan anymore. Marine infantry units now get plate carriers... alot more freedom of movement. No one wears the elbow bads.... no one.
