Just made this for dinner after seeing this post this morning. It is *phenomenal*
I ended up leaving the filet’s on the skillet for longer than you said, and they crisped up really well. Didn’t even have to worry about pan frying

I always use my cutaway tofu for "ground round". I lightly process or chop them and mix with some onions, garlic, some spices and cook them in some oil on the pan. Or use them as a filling for vegan wontons.

Nasoya super firm tofu is GOATED. I havent purchased any other kind since I found it a couple years ago. No pressing right out of the package, so less prep, awesome texture, and widely available where I live.

Just had an idea. With all this egg craze (apparently $40,000 worth of eggs were stolen...) do egg replacement recipes!
I saw the funniest article about egg replacements - it was listing various options and the cost of each, which makes sense. But the listing for aquafaba included "a can of chickpeas normally costs about $1". ... I thought that aquafaba came free when you used the chickpeas in the can for something else.

We have been making this for meal prep for the last three weeks and it is SO DELICIOUS! :D
Instead of cashew cream we used oat milk and a teaspoon of flour (make sure you cook it thoroughly!) to thicken

Not to make a negative comment towards the dish itself but instead of making "fake" versions of dishes by substituting meat with toufu, why not make any of the thousands of dishes that use toufu already?
Why not make this?
Well the whole point of this channel is to show people how to make stuff that's not typically vegan. This way we can eat dishes like this AND dishes that are already vegan. A lot of folks shy away from veganism because they think it means they have to miss out on their favorite dishes. On top of that, I'm not sure how much value there is in me simply making stuff that's already been made a million times.
why deprive the world of this deliciously good tofu? replacing meat in any way, shape, or form is a breath of fresh air ~
You need to stop seeing it as a fake or inferior version. It is simply a version of the dish which uses a different (and in my opinion better) protein. We shouldn't let meat rule the conversation and decide what we should and shouldn't be allowed to eat.
Let’s say your favorite food is pizza, and you moved to Japan. The only pizza restraunt in the area makes a good attempt at a classic American-style pizza, but is still not quite the same.
Despite that, you still go everyone once in a while because it gets the job done of satisfying that pizza craving.
Would you ask this person why they’re eating an imperfect copy of American food, when they’re surrounded by amazing Japanese food? No, of course you wouldn’t, because they’ve been eating that amazing Japanese food for every other meal, and sometimes the oldies hit the spot even if they’re not the exact same.
