  • I paint some ships for Full Thrust or Billion Suns by Ninja Magic. In this is a step by step painting guide and tutorial for Ninja Magic Jun-ila starships including the Dalasin Class Interceptor Drone Carrier and smaller Huala Class Frigate. I am painting with Privateer Press paints. The guide applies to any small scale painting for games like A Billion Suns (ABS), Full Thrust or "With Hostile Intent" which is the Ninja Magic space combat game system.

Thanks for the comment. Just took me 2 years to see it! Hope you managed to find the P3 medium and give it a go.

I love all my ninja magic ships. A great range of figures.

They are brilliant. I have a box full to paint that I have had so long I am worried I will be buried with them before I get around to painting them!

Rottenlead Gaming the story of my life my friend. Just in spaceships alone I got about 50 plus to do. The way I understand it, if you finish all your paint projects. You die within 6 months. Wargamers curse lol

Just like the Tower of London, if the Raven's were to leave.. I like that idea, I will explain that to my wife when I next orders some new mini's! :)

P3 IMHO are the smoothest and most forgiving paints I have ever used. I used to use a mix of Valejo and GW, but find them chalky in comparison to the liquid pigment in P3. It is the liquid pigment which makes them great for blending and transparent if you thin them down with mixing medium and water. I would buy a few colors and give them them a try first.

Very nice work. Your lines are very clean. I still have trouble with getting clean lines and I've been painting for the better part of two or three years now.

    Thanks for the fantastic guide!
How I wish I had something like this to guide me when I was first starting out...
By the way, what is the brand of the brush you're using? They seem to hold a very good point, something none of my own brushes do.

I don't use fluorescent I use "Daylight bulbs" which I bought from an art shop and I have them in Luxo lamps which I try to point closer to the figures. They get hot though so I would avoid pointing them at my head. I hope your hair has grown back.

What is the type of brush you are using? If you don't mind.

Try an ebay search. Not sure about West Midlands. Or Maelstrom games.

What base are you using... and how did you mount them?

On these I had some GZG (ground zero games) metal bases. Still available I believe on their website. Fittings were from ninja magic but I don’t think they produce them anymore. You may find them on a search but I doubt it. You can just use the GZG mounts without the magnetic ninja magic connectors.

I've been looking for good starship models for a while. Is this game still in production?

I am in the UK, however I did a search for ninja magic a couple of years ago and most of the range I could see on a US site.
