Hey! I designed the ships boat and manage Foreven Shipyards, really love the paint jobs and appreciate the kind words and video. Your focus and skill in the hobby is very apparent, love it!

Thanks for the comments. They are really nice models and I have the Corvette and Safari ship on order now. Looking forward to airbrushing them and sharing the result. It's amazing how the little peg holes you have on the underside of the ships were perfect for my magnet solution!

Really like the traveller ships, could do with them larger for light craft in 6mil... any chance do you think?

Thank you for making another video Robin. Those ships are tiny. Do you use a desk magnifying glass ever to paint these? I find that I have to do that when I paint GZG 15mm infantry if I want to paint any details on them like faces and helmet visors.
I also think that you should not worry about the tiger striping on that exploration ship. I think it looks really good, and the random appearance of the stripe shapes and placement gives it character that perfect placement would not.

I do have a Luxo magnifier for close details. However on these ships where I am just edge lining and dropping on a pin wash I find I don’t need it. I do use it for eyes and tiny details on 28mm models. Ironically the larger the mini scale the more likely I am to switch to using the magnifier. I will aim to include an overview of it in the next painting guide.

Any update on the Vallejo surface primer adhesion issue?

I have some more ships to complete which are 3d prints from shapeways. I was going to use it on them again but probably not on metals, just because its a time sink if it fails.

That's weird - I've never had a problem with Vallejo Surface Primer on metal miniatures. I think that on metals, you do need a good coating, rather than a dusting, to allow the polymerisation to form a "shell".

Yes its an odd experience. I had vinegar washed the ships, hot soap cleaned them afterwards, so they were release and grease free. I was also pretty heavy with it really, not dusting it. Very disappointing! Maybe the flow improver kills it? I have seen a lot of people say high-pressure and no thinners with it. I will use it again without thinners to check again in the future.

@@RottenMechGaming I know it's a long time ago, I was going to suggest that a proper clean is required but looks like youve done that. Metal castings normally have a fine powder release agent, it used to be baby powder before it was removed from sale. I have found on 28mm minis, they do need 2 coats to stop edge peel. I've now taken to priming on receipt and then doing a second coat the day before I want to paint. Then it's get them painted and varnished in short order.

@argy8141 yes it was an odd one and I had vinegar soaked then soapy waterwashed the metal models. It’s an odd one.

Love the magnet idea. Those stands look very heavy duty.

Yes really like them. Handy to also use in multiple games, so I can switch on my Imperial Skies airships or use them for Billion Suns. Nice multi-role kit :)

Thanks it was a lot of work over the winter break to get them done. It takes a lot longer to organise and complete models if I am filming.

@@RottenMechGaming I can imagine. I used to blog, and just taking still shots and writing about them really slows the project in hand.

the ball bearing thing is a great idea. i don't know if you came up with that yourself but you really are the wise man on the mountain for tabletop stuff. very cool

Thanks for the comment. I had seen it done on an X-wing model, so sadly not at the bleeding edge myself. However I have been magnitisting my full thrust ships for 20 years. Just never on a ball bearing before last year.
