    Get a protective cover over the electronics. I used a traxxas slash protective cover on my 4 tech and it fit fine with no modification. Even kept some water out too. I got mine on Ebay.

      Good idea. I don't think it's such a big deal under most circumstances but this tiny pee-gravel was wreaking havoc under the body.

      Other than being quite heavy, the car really works good!

    to keep rocks out . i used tape around the front part of drive shaft. enough to block and debris . this helps a lot.. nice build..

      I just used a piece of really thin metal screen that is actually sticky dry wall tape formed it taped it down then used some super small rivets to mount it permanently and boom instant rock shield for the whole chassis of it I covered the whole chassis with it and use 4 removable clips to be able to work on the chassis and move the screen back away from chassis

      Fun chassis after you put a little work into it. A bit heavy though - she needs a little diet! :)

    I also make my own protective cover out of thin plastic using coke bottle anf a heat gun or even thin plaastic sheets that are clear from hobby shop cost me free or a gew follars and looks amazing and a custom fit. And also my carowt indoor rc club track we run oval road course and caroet off road and caroet rally cross and o ised your video to build a traxxas 4tec chassis and man its unbeatable furable reliable faster then higher end model chassis ppl use and now everyone uses the 4 tec ot works perfect for our track and rally cross layout

      @@Competitionx I think it's great platform for a rally car. I wish rally r/c racing r/c rally cross was popular in the U.S.

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Totally agree with you. Did a few 'follow' Rally events and while I can see the draw to it, I honestly think it's WAY to much effort for the typical American RC person LOL It is fun though!

    Maybe stick a dusty motors shroud in there, to cut down dirt and debris getting in the chassis. It’s so thin, I wouldn’t expect it to have any issues fitting under your driver/navigator cutout.

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup, been looking into one of those. Good idea for sure! Thanks!

    exactly what are the exact sizes of the shocks you used? are they the standard 65mm shocks in overall length or are they bigger?

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I actually cobbled up these shocks from Tamiya parts - aluminum bodies, slightly longer-than-normal shafts (for extended travel) and longer rod ends. Then it was just a matter of finding some springs that worked.

    Do you know of any shocks that would work for this build? I’m thinking about turning my 4 tec into a rally build

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not specifically. As mentioned in the video, the front shocks are 67mm and the rears are 70mm (total length). That's close to max - anything longer and you might get binding at full down travel. You may have to experiment with shocks and end eyelets to get the desired length.

    Does a 190mm body fit on that chassis?

    • @BRB_Covers
      @BRB_Covers 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Traxxas website says this chassis will accept “most” 190 and 200mm bodies.

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rear tires have a pretty wide offset so a 200mm would probably be best of you're using those. If you're going to use a different tire set, a 190mm body would work just fine.

  • @Malachi_Marx

    Have you done any updates since this?

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't Hit a couple Rally events and it's done well, it's just the overhangs on the body are a bit too long, causing it to dig into the ground more than I'd like. Not sure if I want to re-build it or just keep it as is...

      Since the 3.0 uses larger wheels, I'd imagine there are a lot more options for rally tires. It might be easier this time around to use the same width for all four. I'd love to see a rally Corvette C8!

    • @Competitionx
      @Competitionx  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it would have been WAY easier to use the same width wheels all around. I loved the look with the stock Traxxas offset so decided to stay that route.
