    The tt02 is so underrated! Yes it is not a high quality race ready car. It is however very versatile in so many ways! With the mods you have preformed plus some hop up parts like aluminum drive shaft speed tune gear set and some 2 or 3 degree rear hubs along with a good set off oil shocks it can perform on a track fairly well. It’s no X-ray but can be a great car for cheap to have a great time with racing!! Esp in a stock class. I have one built up with 17.5 in it and it’s a blast on the carpet track.

    Hey really enjoyed this vid! I got a couple of these same rigs for my son and I to use to join our local tracks summer monthly rally series race on the off road track. Its a laid back, tiny plastic trophy fun race for family and all ages and looks to be one of the most fun things they do through the season. And theres a lot of TT02's as it is a quick cheap car to build. Rules require brushed cans only so the Subaru is a box ready race entry. Some of the more expensive XV01's too, HPI's and a couple Traxxas 4tech 2.0s. Really looking forward to checking out your other build vids on this guy. Did ours with the YR 60mm big bores and noname soft spring kits at the shop. Now just gotta keep the crap out of the chassis! lol Thanks for sharing!

      Thanks for checking it out! Brushed class sounds like fun actually and would keep the cost way down since these come with a motor and ESC.

    The second I saw it running I could see you had some serious suspension working there, very impressed on how it tracks and drives-for a TT-02 that is. Not the best WRC rally chassis out there,but you seem to have got it to work. Subbed.

    • @TekinRacing
      @TekinRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Works ok for bashing trails, it definitely needs more work for racing. Honestly I think the oil is a tad thick. Diffs need some work too, just not sure where to go from the oils I started with.

    The TT-02 might not be the best RC rally Car but its very versatile, cheap to own an maintain. TAMIYA Bodies are very detailed and look gorgeous once painted correctly, and to be honest and in the TT-02 defense, if you think in scale, those tiny rocks may look tiny for us but for the TT-02 it was like were running it on rocks as big as a car door😂 some fine dirt is the ideal terrain for it.

    Looking to build a rally car for exactly this! People (including Ty @Tekin Racing) keeping saying there’s much better options than VX-02 - so let’s hear them! I like tinkering and upgrades so parts availability is important

    • @TekinRacing
      @TekinRacing  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Better options than a TT-02, yes! XV chassis are better designed and spec'd for rally. I hope to build one soon!

    • @SubZ3ro907
      @SubZ3ro907 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have this exact TT02 (with ALOT more upgrades), an XV-01 and an XV-02. Both my XV's are lightly upgraded. Of the 3, I have to say that my XV-01 is my favorite, but it's because i prefer it's belt driven 4 wheel drive. Overall it feels like the front engine mounting position of the XV's give them a more balanced, predictable and realistic driving feel on the track. Tamiya nailed it with this 99 subi tho. It is by far the best looking rally model I have seen. Its an absolutly beautiful replica of the real car. ❤

      They'd just get thrashed. At least this way no paint can chip off.

  • @realgweep
    @realgweep 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    The problem is, when you look at the parts it looks like toy, but Tamiya makes a good job to give you the feeling of "realistic" what you see with a nice body but also with the nice driving handling. For me I don"t need much speed (That is why I like heavy and big Crawler also), that is stressful not relax with my hobby. The second part is, Tamiya gives me more the freeling to handcraft something on the car. The price is ok so you can also experiment with the parts to cut off something or what ever.
    And there are Tamiya Cups with rules that everyone can drive races ... I like that.

  • @SubZ3ro907
    @SubZ3ro907 ปีที่แล้ว

    You might have mentioned it and i just missed it, but what gears are you running in it? I added the "high speed gear set" to mine just so i could go with 48p instead of the lame tamiya gear pitch. Also, what was its top speed on that battery?
    You did a great job on that build. Its a beautiful car. Thanks for the great content.

    • @TekinRacing
      @TekinRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lot, check the first video! Most were definitely a must to make it handle the dirt. Only thing I'm going to add is the steering kit from Tamiya.

  • @stevenzacharakis
    @stevenzacharakis 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Are you finding the dust cover effective at all... seeing alot of dirt in there... and do the cockpit guys fit nicely ontop?

    • @TekinRacing
      @TekinRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It keeps big rocks and junk out, but definitely not dust proof. No matter though, it's a dirt car and I just blow it out after a run.
      Cockpit fits perfectly over the chassis cover, I have pins under it on the rear posts and just let the body hold it down.

    Is not either the oil or the suapension stiff, is the shock mount, tt01 and tt02 have a far shorter distance between shock tower and arms and far less adjustment compared to the xv01 this reduce signifcally the shocks run and make the car very reactive and stiff to unheven surface compared to the soft and stable action u have in a rally car. Huge upgrade wluld be a carbo or meta shock towmer front nad rear to allow more adjustability. For the rest tt02 is a very good rally platform , u can also either put som potty or sikicon glue under the steering linkage to avoid stone and dirt to get trapped in the bathtub or use the xv01t method and put some holes there.

    • @TekinRacing
      @TekinRacing  ปีที่แล้ว

      Suspension being stiff is a lot of it. Longer travel only works if the axles and the rest of the suspension arms can handle it and the TT-02 is fairly limited in physical travel, thus the mods I did.

    • @SubZ3ro907

      You can get the kit for under $150. I built it using a hobbywing justock 13.5 brushless combo (due to club regulations on electronics) for $110 and a decent savox servo for around $60. If you already have a Tx/Rx, you could get into this model and have very similar performance (and be ROAR race legal) for right around $300-$340.

    Awesome! I have the same car, but kept filling the cavities in the chassis near the steering set up with small stones and debris. I’ve now filled them with bits of sponge (mx foam style) and tried to make inner fenders. Seems you didn’t have these issues?

    • @TekinRacing
      @TekinRacing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Tamiya cover definitely kept the bigger stuff out, the chassis was mostly full of dirt and small pine needles after running. I think a mesh cover would be perfect for something like this to really keep it clean.
