Yes thankyou dear!! ❤❤ Always love Freddie (and Queen) just beautiful songs and lyrics. He had depth and intelligence, an amazing human being. He gave us so much!
I dearly love this song, it has a steady place in my eternal Queen/Freddie top ten list, (and it's hard to pick only ten).
I love the devotion, the tears in his voice, the slightly off-tune piano. This song is a real heartbreaker. It is a break-up song, and like others said, the song itself has nothing to do with HIV or premonition of death. Freddie wrote this in 1984 or 1985, when he wasn't diagnosed or ill. I'd warmly recommend to listen/react to this beautiful song again, but only with a lyrics video.
The new video (from last year) is sweet and sad, it's nice to watch it a few times and there's the good purpose. But it also highly distracts from this eternal song.
Like others have mentioned, it was a video used much later for raising money for the Freddie Mercury Phoenix Trust. I love the video, but it sure makes it hard to hear the song in its original sense. It was not about AIDS or another form of sickness, it was a song about maybe a holiday love or when one partner's moving away, when you know that it's going to end, and before you have to say goodbye.
In the video, it's about how together, with raising money for HIV research, we can actually fulfill the goal and make life with HIV livable as if you didn't have it. We're well on the way, luckily, and life expectancy is almost "normal" with medication. It's still, of course, not exactly happy blue skies, but it's getting better. Currently, of course, we have a different virus to occupy the world's resources with, but the big health issues like HIV, various forms of cancer, MS, diabetes etc. still need more research and - hopefully - solutions at some point.
Just: To get to know the song, it's probably better to focus on the music and the lyrics instead of the separate issue.

@@sotoboto9903 yeah definitely one of my favourite albums. Wore my cassette out use to get my mum to play everytime we went in car.
@@sotoboto9903 there are some songs on this album which sound very "plastic electric", I think that you can hear that Freddie didn't have creative counterparts but just session musicians. But there are also very beautiful gems like "There must be more to life than this", "Made in Heaven" with that silly video, and of course "living on my own", which hit No 1 in a remix some years later. And this one, my big favourite, "love me like there's no tomorrow".
