Okay...you watched this video and I did promise you a little story if you watched it so here goes...A few years after Freddie had passed away Montserrat was being interviewed in her home by a BBC reporter and one of the questions he asked her was what was the difference between singing opera and singing with Freddie. She immediately answered "freedom". She went on to explain that as an opera singer, you never get to make choices. The conductor is in completely control and you do exactly what the conductor wants you to do. With Freddie it was different. They would collaborate on what each other would be doing in some parts of the song but in some area's he completely left it up to her and that is when she learned how to adlib. This was a very foreign concept to her and it took her awhile to fully grasp that she just needed to let go and let the music take her where it would but she did learn how. She said that the freedom she felt when singing with Freddie was joyful and in this video you can see that joy written across her face. It is one of the things that makes this video special. She wasn't just doing her job out there but was actually having the time of her life singing with Freddie.
I couldn't find the BBC interview I saw many years back but I did find another interview where a Swedish interviewer asks her the same question. She worded her answer slightly differently in that interview but the meaning was still the same. You can watch that interview here th-cam.com/video/kD4GYBwIkrg/w-d-xo.html

Yes - and I heard that one thing that Montsy learned from Freddie was what she described as "freedom" -- she had always been in formal opera, where the most important thing was to do everything PRECISELY - and it took Freddie to tell her to "loosen up" -- sing what you feel... in every video of the two, you can see the brilliance of her smile, and even sometimes ("how can I go on") - lip-synching to Fred's parts.. but just general JOY -- so sad that she has also passed -- but if there IS a choir in "heaven" then they will certainly be together again!

Divine! Freddie was a major lover of opera and ballet and she was his favorite soprano. They met in Barcelona (hint, hint) and just like everyone else, she was captivated by him. Its truly astounding that a legendary diva like her was completely spellbound by Freddie! Its just magic how their voices blended so perfectly! Definitely check out "Barcelona" and "How can I go on"!

If this is you new fav, then you must check out BARCELONA ! Monty was Freddie's absolute favourite opera singer, and whilst he was in Spain doing promotions he mentioned he woudl love to sing with her, and bingo she got in touch !!!! She went to see him at Garden Lodge and they virtually stayed up all night by the piano singing. She would drop everything for Freddie. Freddie and Monty were very very close friends and she used to go out with him in Munich and used to pinch his cig and have a few drags, he kept telling her off because he loved her voice so much. You only have to look at how Monty looks at Freddie to see how much she loved and cared for him x

i love everything queen for sure. you are my favorite reaction channel because of your love and respect for queen. they are icons and should live on forever. i like the fact, that you also appreciate all 4 members and their individual talents. i think you may have reacted to lap of the gods, but their are two different versions of the song. you need to check out , In the lap of the Gods live from the rainbow 1974. Freddie's voice is fantastic as usual, Brian and John's guitar playing flawless and in this version Roger's voice is, for lack of a better word, other worldly, you'll understand that once you hear it. I'm new at posting things and navigating youtube so i dont know how to support your channel and get paid reactions, but i think you will love this version of In the lap of the Gods. its a must review. thank you for many hours of great entertainment from your channel.

One of MY favorites, too! I read that this song was written by Tim Rice of Phantom of the Opera, but Freddie and Montsy had input, of course! Perfect for Freddie's voice, and he had a hard time not doing more gyrations like he normally did on stage. You can tell how much Montsy loved doing this duet. If Freddie had lived, he may have collaborated with her more.

    • @flav2689
      @flav2689 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Kind of, yes. Opera was her life and she loved it till the end - but she did say many times that she enjoyed the freedom she had when she sang with Freddie. Because in the opera, you don’t just sing and express yourself… as you. I mean that of course you express the emotions but in the role of the character. You have to ”become” the character and follow some guidelines to make sure you don’t do something that doesn’t fit in the concept or the style. With Freddie and this new genre she was completely free to express herself just the way she wanted. She could try different things and just have fun. Whereas opera is serious business. Don’t get me wrong, I love opera and classical - a big fan since I was a child. But every genre has its own pros and cons. The complete freedom in style is one of the perks pop-genre has. In the world of classical music things are often more complex.

🌟I woke up and realised that Imissed the reaction of Freddie's rock operatic gospel masterpiece I was waiting for hours and hours to watch because I didn't know the when... You know what's the IRONY Faith? That I succeeded to fall asleep just 5 minutes(!) before the video was up here, because of the terrible migraine I had ALL DAY!🤯😭 And I'm so angry that I missed it... 👹
🌟I loved your reaction but to be honest, I was also sure that you would acted like crazy...! Because we all do when see Freddie singing like a Rock God and an angel! Unique and magic combination, huh?
🌟Unfortunately, this was the last time he was singing on stage in front of the audience...This video was not a "live singing" though but a playback...(There is a story behind of that night videos...According to Peter Freestone, When the night was over, Freddie broke his dressing room, screaming and shouting because the recording tape was rolling faster than the songs... No one noticed anything, neither Montserrat who was amazed by Freddie's sudden bursting... But Freddie knew cause he was the creator) But Freddie in his beautiful black tuxedo and holding hands with his Super Diva, Montsy (Montserrat Ca.Ba.Yay) filled the stage with his stunning presence, having a standing ovation during the whole event...😍😍 Here's the lyrics...
The boy had a way with words, he sang, he moved with grace
He entertained so naturally, no gesture out of place
His road in life was clearly drawn, he didn't hesitate
He played, they saw, he conquered as the master of, as the master of his Fate
The girl had an iron soul no-one could recognise
Material ambition that her gentleness disguised
She gave herself to him certain of his fame
Wanted him for luxury, for limelight and his name
And then he sang to her
I love you for your silence, I love you for your peace
The still and calm releases that sweep into my soul
    That slowly take control
I love you for your passion, I love you for your fire
The violent desire that burns me in its flame
A love I dare not name
His rise was irresistible (yeah) - he grew into the part
His explanation simply that he suffered for his art
No base considerations of some glittering reward
The prize was knowing that his work was noticed and adored
I love you (yes I love you) for your silence, I love you for your peace
The still and calm releases that sweep into my soul
    That slowly slowly take control
Yes he told the truth (he told the truth), yes he told the truth
Accepting every honour with a masterly display
Of well rehearsed reluctance to be singled out this way
He started to believe that he was all they said and more (and more)
While she forgot, she forgot the reasons (reasons)
    She had wanted him before
(I love you) I love you for your passion (for your passion)
I love you for your fire
The violent desire that burns me in its flame (burns me in its flame)
A love I dare not name
The still and calm releases (releases)
That sweep into my soul (sweep into my soul)
    That slowly (slowly) slowly (slowly)
Slowly (slowly) slowly (slowly) take control
And when at last they fell apart, she wished that she could be
The hardened heart of yesterday, as cynical as he
By changing for the better, she had changed things for the worse
The words that made them happy once now echoed - echoed as a curse

I love every song on the Barcelona album. They are all gems. My very favorite is still La Japonaise though.
Listening to Freddie and Montsy sing is just such a treat and an experience I never get tired of. Freddie is so damn handsome, no, gorgeous, in his tux. He's just gorgeous period. I love how they interact with each other. Montsy is just having such fun. Oh and that kiss is so sweet. They had a special bond. Heaven I'm sure is loving hearing them singing together. So looking forward to Faith reacting to the rest of the album. So much in incredibly good music. Freddie wrote some amazing music on this album. This album is a definite triumph for him.

I love you for your silence, I love you for your peace
The still and calm releases that sweep into my soul
    That slowly take control
I love you for your passion, I love you for your fire
The violent desire that burns me in its flame
A love I dare not name
His rise was irresistible, he grew into the part
His explanation simply that he suffered for his art
No base considerations of some glittering reward
The prize was knowing that his work was noticed and adored
I love you for your silence, I love you for your peace
The still and calm releases, sweep into my soul
    Slowly take control
    Yes, he told the truth
Accepting every honor with a masterly display
Of well rehearsed reluctance to be singled out this way
He started to believe that he was all they said and more
She forgot, she forgot the reasons, she had wanted him before
I love you for your passion, I love you for your fire
The violent desire burns me in its flame
Oh, love I dare not name
The still and calm releases that sweep into my soul
Slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly, slowly take control
And when at last they fell apart, she wished that she could be
The hardened heart of yesterday, as cynical as he
By changing for the better, she had changed things for the worse
The words that made them happy once now echoed, echoed as a curse.

Just so people don't mistake this: Yes, they were there live, they didn't sing live, though. Freddie didn't sing live any more at that time. (That's why his voice sounds exactly like in the studio.) It's a beautiful song, and I love how the performance looks.

They were great friends. She was even with Freddie’s mom when they did the unveiling of his huge statue in Switzerland. Tim Rice wrote this one for Freddie. Freddie already had the music and backing track. He was under a time limit needing to write songs for an entire album with Mike Moran.
PLEASE TRY TO FIND OUT WHY THE MUSIC VIDEOS ARE SO BAD. THE MOUTHS AND LYRICS ARE NOT IN SYNC AND IT FREEZES AND GETS JERKY!

    • @sharonallforloveandpositiv5497
      @sharonallforloveandpositiv5497 4 ปีที่แล้ว

It was written by Tim Rice, Freddie Mercury and Mike Moran. I looked up the lyrics a long time ago as in my mind I saw The Golden Boy as Freddie..the way the lyrics were.. it truly is a masterpiece I have to say. Although I would suspect Freddie had more ideas for the lyrics than Tim or Mike.

Freddie had voice problem so his doctor wanted him not to sing so I think Freddie demanded lipsync so that is probably it and so that makes it even more amazing. My opinion

about the Superman comment..people always joke, Freddie wears a Superman shirt what does Superman wear?? A Freddie shirt! ha ha ha anyways, this whole album was one of great talent. Freddie and Montserrat were stupendous together weren't they? if you get a chance see if you can search for the interview they both gave its pretty good. And I have always like Freddie the way he looked in the early says (no mustache) and later on. when i draw him, those are the images I try to emulate - no stash thanks for this!! you make me laugh with your enthusiasm towards Queen. Get yourself a new chair, cal it the throne :)

This was meant to be sung live but Freddie at that point decided he was not good enough so took to miming this instead which for him must have been crap. Now listen to "How can I go on" its beautiful.

Great moving reaction but I have to agree with mmaloneym there is something wrong with the video qualities you are posting, it has happened quite a lot of times on your reaction, the mouth syncing is not in tune with the video, the pictures is quite hazy and it freezes and jumps a lot which tbh are spoiling your reactions as they are so good and moving xxxxx
