Yes, that’s Freddie getting sick. Mercury didn’t know he had been exposed to HIV until he was diagnosed in April 1987. One of the symptoms that Mercury noticed was Kaposi’s sarcoma tumor on his shoulder. Kaposi’s sarcoma is a rare type of skin cancer that is an AIDS-defining illness.
BTW: Freddie had another girlfriend other than Mary Austin. He actually lived with Barbara Valentin, an Austrian actress. She is the person that said Love Me Like There’s No Tomorrow. Hence, Freddie wrote the song and recorded it on his solo album.

This video is so beautiful. It just makes Freddie’s death even more tragic - he wasn’t able to be saved like the dude in the video. We need to love enough to save people with AIDS - and find a full cure (like the partner did)
They do seem like an alternate universe Freddie and Jim, one where the story has a happy ending. The video premiered at 3 AM for me and I was so emotional I barely slept at all. But it was well worth it.
This was a song written by Freddie Mercury, as a dedication to a German actress called Barbara Valentine, of whom he formed a strong, special relationship during the 1980s, when he used to live in Munich.

The characters in the video is not Freddie and a partner. It says that the video shows stuff that affected Freddie's life but it's not actually him. The end is them when they are old so you see that he survived. Notice the wedding rings. This has a happy ending! Which makes sense since the Mercury Phoenix Trust is fighting HIV/AIDS. I love this song btw ❤❤❤❤

God this made me cry. What a video. There are interviews of Freddie where he has a sore on his face. AIDS, stops the immune system so if you get a sore, your body ignores it and more and more appear. The sad thing about Freddie, is if he had just lived a few months longer he would still be here. As HIV is not a death sentence anymore. People can live a normal life until old age. Charlie Sheen was diagnosed with HIV and he will live as long as anybody else. But Freddie, I loved him.
