This teardown shows just how much utility each aspect of G-Shock design entails. These screws and bulges and size just aren't for show, everything has a purpose. I wish Casio would take notice of channels like you, Watch Geek and WatchUp69. Your videos must help sell a lot of G-Shocks, and you guys should be rewarded by Casio.
Finally someone else that realized how important every aspect in our G-Shock watch! If I may add, the box, paper and tag also an important aspect. I'm pretty sure Casio noticed the trend on TH-cam but all of us aren't big enough yet for their standard. Maybe.
Casio could do that, too. Because, They could film the complete develpment and sampling process. They don`t wanna show it. A ga is not well mounted than old or this model for example. So Casio can replace expensive parts with less expensive and nobody will get it. They also dont wanna show their solutions or Improvement, they can`t prevent it or stop reverse engineering enthusiasts. But they don`t want it and/or need it.
Since its release I thought it is pretty expensive watch aside all the functions but after finished watching this video...I really appreciate the effort and thinks that it's only fair we're paying so much. As always thanks for your effort Shaz.
You are the man! Thanx for showing us the internals if the Rangeman just like you did on the Mudmaster. Sorry that your Rangeman was not scrolling right. Hope it gets fixed! Keep up the awesome content!! G-Shock on brother!
I really appreciate the length you go just to see what's in there. I guess a little piece of hardware still wake the child in us who wants to know everything inside out. Salute to your curiosity.
I'm here because my speaker does not work. I will have a look inside to see what's going on with that silver spring. If anyone has anything to add for me please feel free to reply to my comment. I will keep this updated. Thank you to the amazing uploader for tearing down this watch, without him nothing would have been understood or attempted.
That's why I love the watches. Not that I would necessarily open the little sucker, but you could and you even could repair it (battery and maybe even some other parts. Take Apple instead - Their answer is: Trow it away.
This is one of the best and one of the most underrated g shock channel. You definitely deserve much, much more views. I also have one suggestion. Can you make one side by side comparasion 'whats inside...' video of two eternal classic's DW6900 and DW5600? Cheers
Thank you man for noticing my efforts! I really need more supporters like you here. I believe I already make a video about DW6900 disassembly few months before. DW5600 ones will be out next week. Side to side comparison sounds easier to be understood, I’ll work on it next! Thank you for this suggestion!
Watched video with DW6900 before, on your channel, of course :) My idea is just two of classics in one video with comparison (on example, dimension of movement and buttons, glass thickness, etc). Thanks in advance. Cheers from Serbia!
Great video! I’m looking to swap the bezel and resin bumpers on mine and have found a lot of forum threads where they state the crown/encoder can be easily damaged by removing the bumper. Did you notice that and have any tricks/tips to not damage the crown or encoder?
You simply are the best G-Shock collector in the world. Your "what's inside" videos are simply amazing! Will you make a disassembling video of either the gwf-d1000 or the gpw-2000? They would result awesome!!
Man, I really like your enthusiasm and appreciation for the quality of each and every part. Then again when you shelled 1k€ at a watch you want to enjoy it, right? ;) Having said that - I would never dare to disassemble such an expensive watch myself!
No no no. I didn’t enjoy it at all at first. Feels very uncomfortable. Took me a whole day to complete the whole process because I need to take brake ever now and then while breaking this expensive watch down. It is not a good experience but I had to do it to fix it. I didn’t show the part where I messed up though during this whole process though. It was a nightmare. (I almost fried the IC & display panel) 😅🙏. Luckily, it all went well after all. So I just skip all this suspense altogether.
Great video! I took apart my watch to clean. When I screwed back the bezel, the threads were broken in one of the holes for the big screws! The dealer says that the warranty does not apply 😡 And a new case is very expensive...
Try contact Casio directly. I literally breakdown all the parts for this video before sending them to Casio for warranty claim and they still accept it.
I just buy new a Casio G-Shock GW-M5630D-1JR 30th anniversary (the gold and Carbon fiber version) in a "Nos". So my question is : Carbon bands are more solid then normals ? Or is it just for the look ??? I hope you have some informations about it... Thanks, bye.
Great pick up there man. I own that watch few years ago. It has more to do with the resin instead of the carbon fiber. The Mudman & Rangeman model also came with carbon fiber yet didn’t feels as stiff/solid as that squar model. As as I could remember at least. 🙏
Hello G Shock Highfashion - you are the absolute Master Watchmaker extraordinaire !! Beautiful presentation. I only recently ordered my GPR-B1000-1JR and really appreciate your outstanding Horological dissections. All the best to you and yours, Terry.
Thanks for the positive feedback! It took me days to finish this. I'm so glad to know that this video is helping someone out there. You'll gonna love that all black Rangeman!. All the best for you too! 😎🙌
This watch is really well built and tough, and have good features but it´s too big for my wrist, this is why i still prefer the old one. Anyway you did a very good job on disassemble it and show in detail what´s inside, i love this watch, thank you for show it, and i like a lot your channel, my fav

The GPS could be turn off manually and it will stays off. Airplane mode is to stop the bluetooth connection. Well, that could helps save battery too I guess.
Don't lock them too tight. The bezel is for shock absorption and not as much on water resistant anyway. No need to lock it too tight, just enough so that it wont came out.
I haven't tried it yet myself so can't tell. Anyway, I will buy one next and do all that in a video like this. Hoping to do it few weeks from now. Stay tuned!
Hello, thanks for the video, really helpful. Were the red accents permanently attached to the inside protectors on the outside of the bezel at the 3H (crown) and 9H (sensor) positions?
Not possible because the size of the circuit board to too big plus the display panel compartment and battery compartment would require the original case to be perfectly aligned.
The way the crown encoder slops about (at 16:30) really bothers me. Is there not a part on the back of the battery holder to reduce this movement? Kinda thinking twice about getting one now...
That battery is really hard to get. Probably it is widely used in our electronics. Similar like how hard to get a ctl1616 years ago. But you could use a CR3032 as a replacement. It is the same battery but not rechargeable.
@@gshockhighfashion Won't it cause a serious damage to the watch when the solar panel tries to recharge the non rechargeable CR3032? Like battery explosion or leaking?
Thanks for the video. Great to see the internals of this watch. Came across this after searching for issues regarding the 'D' or 'receiving' button . Purchased my watch brand new 2 days ago and while playing with it, on one occasion the button felt stiff to depress before 'clicking' into the depressed position. No problems experienced since, the button operates smoothly like the others and visually locates in the same position. Looking at the internal design I cannot understand what would have caused this unless there is a spring inside the button that jammed it in position ? Any thoughts?
Button disassembly is required there. Perhaps some more grease is required or maybe it is just very new. They tend to do that and it'll go away over time.
I have question❓ Can this watch be damaged by being outside a MRI machine I would say like about 10 away from the magnet. I would say around the 5 Gauss line.
I got it at about the retail price and I disassembled it to try and fix the crown issue & for educational purposes as I always do with all my G-Shock watches.
Hi. I tried to open the back of mine hoping to remove the battery while waiting for the battery to arrive. But unfortunately my flat screw head is not small enough to fit in the battery holder. So i put everything back in. But i try to clean the rubber gasket from the back door by rubbing tissue on it because there's mud on the outer side. Now it's not fit on the groves of the rubber gasket. One side is getting up from the groves. Any advise? Or i just align them and close the door hoping it will fall into the groves while tightening.
@@gshockhighfashion hi. Thanks for the reply. I already tried to replace the battery and still it didn't work so i just send it to gshock service center for check up. Is there instances that the board will be fried by the battery?

READ THIS IF YOU DON'T WANT TO WRECK YOUR WATCH BY TRYING TO CHANGE THE BEZEL: You should not take off the bumper at 3H without removing the crown first or else you will mess up the the sensor the crown is attached to inside the watch! This comes directly from Casio authorized service. You need to remove the watch back cover, remove the crown, then you can remove the bumpers and bezel. The reason this guy didn't notice he screwed up the crown sensor is because his was already screwed up, hence him taking it apart, putting it back together, and sending it in to Casio to fix. Do a search and you will see a number of people having screwed up the crown after trying to remove the bumper before the crown, some after watching this very video. This video should be taken down or else edited to warn people to not remove the 3H bumper before removing the crown!
Swiss-type watch, yes in that order. They all just same. G-Shocks, not necessarily. They'll different. Plus, you can see the watch already broken from factory in the review video made prior to this video.

Is there a part number for the screen display? My stupid screen died after two years. Otherwise, can I have all the numbers and details that's on the part, including on the flat wire ribbon. This is really an excellent video btw.. :D
It is fully solar powered. No battery swap is required. With proper charging cycle, it could last you at least 10 years. Beside, the battery aren't available for sale to the public, last time I check.

Plus, you can see the watch already broken from factory in the review video made prior to this video.
my only wish for this watch would be to invert the direction that the crown rotates to scroll up and down the menus.
I did get to experience this process with my broken crown Rangeman and I got to say it is pretty convenience as well. Interesting idea.
Why did they discontinue?
Cool 😎👍
Thanks for sharing! (Is the quad sensor GM next?)
I have other models queuing in line at the moment. GWNQ will coming after for sure!
Hello from Blighty, I'm planning to replace my bezel and band with the limited edition Land Cruiser design. Can you please tell me what size allen key I need for the bit that says sensor on lesft hand side of the module.? Great Channel by the way I enjoy watching. Cheers Shane.

Is there a part number for the screen display? My stupid screen died after two years. Otherwise, can I have all the numbers and details that's on the part, including on the flat wire ribbon.
This is really an excellent video btw.. :D
Bro how about the battery life? It is long life? Who any experience has chnge batery after 1 year?
It is fully solar powered. No battery swap is required. With proper charging cycle, it could last you at least 10 years. Beside, the battery aren't available for sale to the public, last time I check.
