When I was 16, (about 1978) did thy clutch on my Dads Ford Corsair. Did it in the road, When I finished found that I still had the release bearing to put in. How we laughed. Valuable lesson, check, check and check. Great videos Thanks

We all do it, I did a MK1 skoda superb V6 cambelt and convinced myself I didn't tighten the tensioner up, had to put the front end back into service mode and remove everything....was perfectly tight!

  • @tomcurran65
    @tomcurran65 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +8

I'm exactly the same, someone comes in starts shuffling around behind me, I start paying more attention to them, telling them not to touch the parts, leave the bolts alone, leave the tools alone, and later that evening I'm retracing my steps trying to remember did I tighten something and so on. Drives me up the wall. Every time I check my work, its done, its ok....I know me, of course it is, but when that doubt starts creeping in there is nothing for it but to pull it apart and check it, otherwise it will haunt me 👻 Great job again Baz👍

You’re right to check Baz. You would only worry if you returned the van to your customer without confirming you had torqued the tensioner. Puts your mind at rest. We’ve all at some point gone home and doubted. Top marks to you sir.

Yup been there mate with the "did I tighten that bolt up" thoughts, I am the same with torque wrenches and marking bolts/nuts.
On major jobs I take pictures with my phone so I can look back later and reassure myself. If someone was to look through my phone they would think I am a nutter with all these pictures of random bolt heads and nuts 😆

One of the best mechanics I've known says he has a wobble like this several times a week. He's got to the stage where he locks himself away in the spray booth when he's doing chains and belts. As he says himself: the first turn of the key when you've finished the job dictates how many interruptions you had, or didn't have. I think I know what he means.🤣

    Greetings from Romania.
At r9m, no blocking crankshaft is necessary because you have a clear sign at the end.
    vertical up sign equals PMS.
It is not necessary to remove the front of the car, electric motor, cooling system.
Be very careful with the chain tensioner (after market spring 1 cm shorter).=therefore, limited pressure on the chain, therefore rattling after starting.
there are 2 variants for the pinions for the R9M.
Chain pinion 38mm long together with pinion without oil pump.
Chain sprocket 33 mm long with pump sprocket with internal wedge.
Hepu kit has both pinions in the kit..
Buy the tin cover first (it deforms badly when disassembling).

Ive done these without removing the whole front end, i just removed the starter bolts and left it hanging
It is possible to install the crankshaft locking tool
Bit of a pain but better then removing the whole front end
Also you have to put extra silicone (sealant) in the grooves between the shortblock and the cilinder head otherwise they will leak there (trust me i made this mistake)
