    Nice job.
The negative feedback are the people who stay indoors and watch you do it.
They are the one's who will end up having the heart attack.
    Well done.

They are called a "Dakota Snow Blade". I think Amazon carries them now. I live in Minnesota & bought mine 8-10 yrs ago, and it still works great. Yes, snowblower is easier, but my "Snow Blade" is much cheaper and the most maintenance ever done is replacing 1 bolt/nut. It doesn't replace a shovel, but it does 80-90% of the work-- WAY easier. It breezes through powder and is optimum if < 6" deep. In light snow, I clear my drive & walks in 5-10 min-- it's SO FAST! It won't cut through hard, refrozen snow or packed snow from a snow-plow. But when snow is wet and heavy, I work down the center of my drive. I push half the snow to one side and half to the other side. With all the snow piled up on the sides, I use a shovel to throw it into the yard. Even in wet heavy snow, it saves ENORMOUS amounts of work. It's not for all places, but most places in the U.S. are not at high elevation and don't get lake-effect snow. Works in Minnesota.

My Dad had one of these back in the mid sixties. He got it from Eaton's (a long gone major dept store chain up here in the GTW)!
The blade was about a third smaller and the wheels were twice as tall. And, if the way the guy is flipping this tool around, Dad's wheeled shovel weighed twice as much. Also of course, the driveway was not paved, a shovel like this does not work on loose gravel lanes/driveways.
Finally, snow in N. Ontario comes down a bit heavier than this as well so this snow tool did not always work very well at all.

When I was a teenager in Minnesota I made one something like this and yes, the detractors are right, it's fun but not of much use.
When I came back from the Navy and had to live there, I wouldn't even bother to clean that little bit of snow.
Since moved to Nevada - end of problem

I have had a few of these hand plows for a few years now (mine have Blue poly blades). 1 at home and the other at my shop. They are great for light snows! Use to carry one in my plow truck for doing walks and where it was difficult to get the plow into. They are great for light snows as it is fast!

Boy oh boy, what a bunch of haters. Do you REALLY think there is a man-operated pusher shovel that'll push 12" or heavy, wet snow? Give it a break. If you had one of these, you might have to go out a time or two during a heavier snowfall, but it still beats scooping and lifting and that's the point of this pusher. Not an answer to all conditions. And no, I don't have any skin in the selling of this product, I'm just a practical, reasonable midwestern homeowner.

  • @rjkopp
    @rjkopp 7 ปีที่แล้ว +3

It really is just a modified pusher, something that I remember having as a kid shovelling snow, but for some reason all you see now days is plastic snow shovels, that require lifting. While this guy was great on a small amount of snow, the pusher helps even with a heavier snow, but it can't beat a snow blower. I have thought that when the snow is really wet and not deep at all and the snow blower (an older one that probably is due for replacement) one of these would be nice on the front of a riding mower, or even somehow attached to a snow blower to add traction. A pusher works like a snow plow on a truck, pushing the snow off the end, that is the beauty of them, no lifting.

I do commercial removal for Safeway, Albertson's, Wincos, etc. I have this same shovel and it does do pretty well on light snow or even a little bit of slushy snow that. Its good to have on hand because in some situations the Snowblower is over kill and slows you down having to unload it and go its speed and turn around versus running around like the guy in the video where you can bust out the fronts of stores and handicap spots real quick, but there is the trade off, its a 3foot blade and moving 3 feet of snow isn't free, it cost energy and when you got 8 stores to do you have to pace yourself. Bottom line is that it is good to have on hand.

And like every ridiculous "smartshovel" that is invented the snow is light as cotton. You never get to see this shit in work where a grader has thrown wet snow that cars has driven through and then have freezed. Everything is easy to do in cold powdersnow, a sneeze or hard cough will do the job as well.

I have one of these. I regret buying it. It only works with a narrow range of snow situations; 1-3 inches, light and fluffy. Your driveway also needs to be in perfect condition. Instead of pulling this out and then finding that it doesn't work well half the time and then switching to a shovel, now I just go for the shovel in the first place for light snow and the blower for heavier snow. If the snow is easy to push, it doesn't take long to push it with a shovel either. It's also much easier to slightly lift a shovel over cracks and little gaps in the walkway where this thing keeps getting stuck.

This dude just cleared a larger than average drive in 3 min. I’m more than happy to get off the couch and shovel for 3 min every time 2 inches falls. Do the math twelve inches of snow would require 6 three minute shovelling jobs for a grand total of 18 min.
Could you clear 12 inches of snow off a large driveway in under 18 min. If you sat on your ass until the snow Stopped?
I was so impressed I bought one. Took me 4 min. to clear 160 feet of driveway 12 feet wide. 3” of snow accumulation.
    Anyone wanna buy a snowblower?

You wouldn’t have to keep flipping it over if you went down the center first, then come back up the right side (farther side from camera) then go back down the left side and little by little the snow would get plowed half to the left side, half to the right side. And like I said you wouldn’t have to keep flipping the plow over at the end of each pass due to it being made angled to one side. 🙂

You can tell by the comments, who comes from areas which get little snow (positive comments) to the areas which get heavy snow (not impressed). For the amount of snow which is on the ground the shovel would have taken just a bit longer, also with the shovel you can lift, because not all driveways have flat yard next to them some have walls or are higher and you need to lift.

I saw one of these at my local ace hardware store. I did not like how cheaply put together the lower LAWNMOWER HANDLE mounts were made. And at $120, I did not buy it. And as the video CLEARLY SHOWS, it's only good for fresh powder snow, not wet snow. I can actually go FASTER with 2 PUSHER type snow shovels side by side and slightly overlapped. You are STILL PUSHING just like the guy in the video. Yet I would have gotten done faster with 2 pusher style snow shovels. BOTH SHOVELS together have a 36" to 45" clearing width on light snow. Yet this thing is only about 26" to 28".

On light, dry snow like that, you can use a backpack leaf blower like I do and have some fun with no effort at all with better results!

Good for some driveways and light snowfalls. City stuff. Where I live you need a heavy duty snowblower minimum or a plow on a pickup truck or tractor. Or you pay someone to do it. This little thing would be useless here. But it's clever.

Some people? Of course it isn't for a feet of heavy wet snow. Where I live, I have a snow blower for heavy wet snow, or when you get more than an inch or two. But I'd love this for the much more frequent "dustings" we get every week. We may get 3 or 4 inches of snow around here in a week, an inch at a time. Drive on it and it turns to ice pack. Snowblowers won't do much with a dusting even in high gear. This would be a great way to keep the ice pack away.

Warning: do not attempt if you are over the age of thirty, are not physically fit and do not do cardio exercises regularly. Caveat: even if you qualify, you may still be in danger if you attempt this shortly after leaving a warm house. Additional warning: not really advisable under any situation even if you are physically fit.

Obviously has limitations, but what doesn't?
I personally have a garden tractor with a blade on the front also one with a snowblower. But for lighter snow like this I'd just send the kids out.

Wouldn't work in New England with the heavy wet snow. It would be nice for those small storms when I don't want to take out the snowblower. I use a push shovel for those 1-2 inch storms that has the same concept.
