I have watched quite a few of these A pillar builds on TH-cam before finding yours. Your has to be the most well explained I have seen yet. This stemming from the explanation of the aiming which none of the others have done.
Going forward, you can rough up the plastic with course sand paper to help with bonding. Remember, you are going to be sanding ALOT after the fiberfill. You can also build up you're front with the wood, then cut out the back for the clearance.👍
Man I've just built mines, it's for tweets and mids of focal flax. Aimed at the opposite headrest as I want to still have my passenger enjoy the music somehow properly. It is still quite on axis for both of us rally. It was fun to make pillars (same pssound method with wood and body filler) but damn man I hate the upholstery and I messed it up and in concave zones it peels off because of the tension. Yours will be easier, make sure to have fabric with elasthane in it and make sure to put a good amount of glue on fabric and on pillar otherwise it will be a disaster like mine. Cheers! Those alpine status looks fantastic!
Looking good brother. Im starting my 1st pillars build tomorrow. Im carpenter, I have similar craftsman experience and a ton of tools, so I may have an advantage on you there. But Im impressed with your pilars so far. Not bad at all for your 1st go around. Thanks for the video, very helpful.
Turning out nice for your first pillars. I've been looking for some from a junk yard for my car that I can cut up but can't find any, and new ones are $160 each. But yes, I have a pile of equipment waiting to install since spring, but family life. I'm hoping I can start it before it gets cold out, but I'm not sure. My last install took 6 weeks because if the limited time to work on things.
Fantastic achievement mate and I like your attitude the way you said that people will make mistakes and that's how you learn, very reassuring and makes me feel that I can give it a go and doesn't matter if I mess it up 🙂👍
Nice! I did this to my A-pillars following Peter's method, took me a very long time (granted i didn't work on it that much), but 500 years of sanding incoming.
absolutely love your videos. Thank you for sharing your hard work and dedication. Have you heard of time intensity trading? I think you might be better off aiming the tweeter not right at you but actually in front of you (more toward your left shoulder). The let tweeter your point to your right shoulder. This will widen your sweet spot so if you move just a little the imaging doesn't fall apart.
That is not how it works. A sweet spot is a sweet spot. It depends more on the tweeter dispersion pattern. I am aiming mainly for the best top end extension. Tweeters not aimed at you will start to roll off above 15-16k.
The thing I love about making custom speaker locations work is the buzz you get after you see something really nice coming together. I bet it was hard for you to stop after getting those tweeter builds mocked up.
I was going to paint my pillars, when I was building them. Because the pillar (like yours) has a textured finish from the factory, I would have had to cover the whole pillar in filler to get a consistent finish with paint. If I were to do it again, I would wrap the pillars.
Ive seen where people makes a replica pillar from resin amd fiber glass and then use that to build on and wrap it woth the oem material instead of risking it on OE pillar.
Hi, Where did you buy those speaker rings adapters ? i looking to build myself pillars for 3 inch midrange only and following your build, you did a great job here I like the finale product :) also I was thinking to buy aluminium pods for focal speakers but do you think is worth all this efort to build custom pillar instead just buying pods ? thanks
The rings were 3d printed. Custom pillars for midranges are always better than pods. For tweeters you can use pods, but custom pillars always look better.
@RAW-CAt thank you, I'll do pilars, but it's ok to leave Twitter in doors and do only midrange in pillar ? where i can faind you in UK ? Are you working with audio system installations ? I'm looking for someone to wire my car.:)
@@RAW-CAt 2nd now 😂 lookin forward to getting them playing just need to sort the pillar builds! Unfortunately they wont be going to emma sq as that'll be the astra only lol
I am selfish in tht way. If I will build a high end system, I want to enjoy it 100% and I personally don't see the point of sacrifising performance for both seats to sound mediocre. I have a passenger side tune with EQ and timing adjusted for the passenger. Only downside is the top end that for the passenger is falling off above 10k.
More on axis... because you are the one thats 90% listening in your car. Thats what I also would do. But didnt you have the Satori drivers? What I was wondering; did you play with aiming the mid driver? I like your horizomtal placement in the dash, but with some drivers (or cars) firing on axis instead of to the windshield sounds better... Downaside is its so obious visable... For a classic car that I have it would be so much nicer horizontally like you did, but on axis sounded better; in that car... I dont know what to decide... Both have advantages. I am curious, Goodluck with the fiberglassing... I always like that part!
@@explorinlearnindoing5462 for me it's more like 99% of the time I'm alone😁 I have a video about midrange aiming. I will be using same locations in the hash, however I will be tilting the mids about 30-40° for better response. And I won't be fiberglassing, just using body filler👍

I'm really enjoying this kind of video. It's nice how it just feels so real, just normal everyday life
Skewers and lollipop sticks seem to be the chosen ones, great to see you build these 👍
This is why I follow your channel. It’s relatable.

Ice lolly sticks are a great building tool

Do you know whats the difference between junior and a master?
Master has failed more, than junior has ever tried.
Interesting watch.
Nerijus, well done. They are looking great,
Man you’re a genius this is sweet
I like your cat and the colour very much🥰
Exlent work ❤❤❤

nice video! I'm scared of ruining my A-pillars incase something goes wrong, had to get some from junkyard instead
Dude. Great job
Great start! Looking good!

You could get ahold of a used headliner and use the fabric to wrap the pillars🤙😉
That's a great advice👍

Perfect mate, I’ll defo use it on my E70 X5 3way system I’ll produce ❤
Nice work. I need to start building some for my car!
You've inspired me to do mines.
Another great video!👏🔊
I need inspiration because midrange in dash will be my next upgrade 🙂
Midrange in dash you say? Video coming soon😎
Ive seen where people makes a replica pillar from resin amd fiber glass and then use that to build on and wrap it woth the oem material instead of risking it on OE pillar.
My car is old, so a spare pair of pillars is like 10 quid from the breakers🤷 Resin is more expensive than that 😂
Looking great, I would take the fabric off. As the fibre fill is only adhering to the fabric not the pillar. But great inspirational video.
Most likely I will have to do just that🤔
That turned out nice!
Thank you☺️
Thank you for being honest and also using “normal” tools - not some 100k CNC machine :)

Got these same tweeters and same car! Where did u get the speaker rings from? Gonna have a go at making my own now after watching this!
Find Elvijs Maruscaks on FB. I think he still has the files so could print it and send very fast for you🙂 Hey, where are you in the UK mate?

Nerijus, do often have passengers in the car? If so do they noticed the compromised sound from the passenger seat?

hmm isn't the right one too "in your face" and beaming close to the right window? fromt the uoutside indeed it looks like having a bit of an angle
The right one is "in my face", that is exactly where I was aiming it👍
