I really like what they did with the styling of the Sandrock, nataku, and heavyarms. I do own the nataku kit, I painted it as well. I do have to say I was actually surprised with the quality and the way the joints were done. When I did the out of box initial build of the nataku the joints were so tight I was afraid I might actually accidentally break one. It had no issues holding the massive dragon fangs anywhere you put them. These kits are a bit taller than the originals as well, the legs, torso, and arms (at least i think the arms) were all extended. However over time it has loosened up considerably, then again bandai kits are just the same. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed the kit, build, and painting, I haven't had the chance or money to build the Bandai versions yet unfortunately. If you're on the fence about purchasing one, all I can say is if you like the styling of them, then definitely by all means purchase one. You won't regret it.
I think it’ll be great if they follow up Heavyarms with Deathscythe and then getting all four Supernova kits and the HiRes Wing Zero. I feel those would go amazing together.

This looks really nice, I can imagine it with the panel lines, water slides and a matte top coat. I bet it would look sick. I would consider buying this, but i want to see the heavy arms first.
I just got this kit and the j runner was not correct or for a different wing kit, because the joint connection between the lower leg and the knee part is different than the manual shows and what is needed to connect it. Super bummed since it was $80 and 3 months wait on shipping.
maybe try soaking the cloth in some coffee or dark tea and rip or scratch it up a bit in some places to give it a worn and distressed look. I think that would make it more believable at least
Can i use the original bandai mg sandrock frame with this kit? Because i dont like the gap on the leg armor, the stomach, and the elbow. So i assume supernova extends those parts but keep the armor size.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the inner frame of this kit is heavily based on the Bandai Wing kits (can't remember the name of the frames). I looked at the manuals closely when you did the unboxing and I noticed the similarities of the parts.
The look of these Supernova kits are exeptional. I personally think in the looks department they blow away the previous representations and with the amount of extras that come with the kits it is making Bandai look like cheapskates.

It's not a bad kit, but bear in mind that all the gold details need to be painted. You could use the included stickers or decals for those but they work horribly.
The Ver.Ka comes with nice waterslides, the OVA version comes with the bazooka. Other than that they are essentially the same. Both are great kits. I do have the Ver.Ka in the backlog, but won't have time to build it anytime soon.

I own the DM Avalanche Dash and it's a good kit. No parts popping off on mine and it's a good sturdy kit, quality its good and the build is good too. Go for it I highly recommend that kit. Hoping Zach takes a shot at it now that he has a new sponsor for these types of kits.

Actually the correct term is market failure. Which is when a seller doesn’t supply an item that would sell to a region that would absolutely buy it. Instead they have a bunch of expensive crap and stuff that no one asked for on the U.S. P-Bandai store.
wow nice super nova improve their wing e.w. series kits in terms of proportion and design , because i dont like their first mg nataku is strangely proportioned... long neck , lanky legs , different shades of dead color greens (i guess?) , long toes , lego ball joints on the 2 dragons and the yellow scissors on the dragon heads are weirdly attached that made to look like predator mouth , and a lots and lots of foils stickers ,but this super nova sandrock makes me wanna buy because of design and proportion the only nitpick on S.N. sandrock is the blue translucent heat shotels (kinda whish they made it in yellow orange ) and the usual open gaps on legs and and the common problem on 3rd company kits is the fitting issues which i can easily fix, overall their ver. of sandrock is ok to me now its time for me mto pre order one at my nearest hobby shop :P thanks for the nice review zack :D

That's because this kit does in fact share a LOT of engineering similarities with its Bandai counterpart. The leg construction, from what I can tell between WIP photos and the EW manual, are identical, same goes for the torso. The runners have plenty of copied parts from its Bandai counterpart. DuelMasterNG is a BlogSpot page I found that has WIP pictures and runner photos of this kit, and 1999 is as always a good resource for images of Bandai manuals and runners to compare against if you want to check it out yourself.
Don't know about this, but 3rd party kits are always better than bandai productions. Just try 'Knight of Dark Sky' model kit. so much better than any gunpla i ever built. very strong plastic and almost sturdy like an action figure. gunpla just feels cheap once you built unless it's a very heavy model kit.

Legs are too long. They should release a kit that had tiny everything but with super large legs. Actually they should just make a kit that is legs-only.
for some its looks to long, but if u see other mecha design from other series, many of them have this kind of propotion especially on super robot back on the old days

Meaning, the "third party" company has permission from the "first party" company to produce similar products. Since these other model companies don't have any permission to use Bandai Sunrise IP, and they're only modifying Bandai's original designs, they are not third party. Bootlegs plain and simple.
I always skip the articulation part so it doesn't matter to me as long as the review is not boring AF. I like listen to him taking about his opinion and personal thought about the kit tho :)

There is one great thing about this kit is out of all of the Sandrock kits the claws are actually claws.
With the cloths ive always thought of wrapping little bits of wire underneath to flail it and add some dynamic.

Depending on the type of cloth, you can hair spray the inside and mildly mold it, taking scissors to it wouldn't be a bad idea either

The OVA version comes with the beam bazooka so you can do the giant combo weapon! That would be the one I get over Ver Ka

The connection part to connect the big shoulder armor and the shield is I26, not I16 as in the instruction. Don’t know why you didn’t point it out?
