It's kinda weird but Gundam Wing was really the first show that I seen that has one of the protagonists actually ran out of ammo mid fight.

I remember near the final battle in the show the allied forces were discussing the weaknesses of all the gundams. With Heavy arms, they told everyone that they had to wait until he ran out of ammo and so they did.
thats why death scythe the sand dude and snake guy were always my favorite. They never ran out of ammo

I love the design of Heavy Arm. And the bright color just screams out, “Come get me, I’m the focus of your attack.”
I think that was the point. Red is usually considered the color of aggression, and in combination that it stands out in most backgrounds, and carries the most firepower, it will attract the most attention.

Heavy Arm was so OP that it didn't get an upgrade till endless watts.
Wait no it did for the original just added more thrusters and machine gun for the gatling gun and ew was a different style of the gundams same version but different style
Nope, it did. The upgrade was just barely any different compared to the original

I think it only got a space capable seal and the arm mounted single minigun was converted into a twin minigun (Heavy Arms Kai)
All side gundams were upgraded to the Kai aside from Wing and the Tallgeese
Oh the 90’s, when you could get away with repeated animation and literally no one would care… I miss it.
Take it back to the 80's when episodes of He-Man was nearly up to 75% re-used footage.
It wasn’t as noticeable as in the og gundam though
Don't get it wrong, it still exists, it's just more noticeable today due to lack of detail in animation (mainly american cartoons)

yep, the gundams actually don't have much screen time overall. It's mainly politics and talking. But, as per usual, anything robot based is gonna get a lot of hate for simply being big stompy robots that fight nonsensically. I think GW just happen to come out at the right time though. I don't think it would ever make it in today's industry, considering the collective anime community steers more toward fantasy isekai. Gundam is just very hard to really appreciate.
The isekai stuff getting pretty stale though, I can see robot animes getting revived again. Especially with witch of mercury airing rn

Heavyarms was amazing due to his weapons load-out and his durability. One of the only gundams to go toe to toe with death-scythe gundam and his actual death scythe and not get sliced up. A walking fortress with ammo and missiles to spare.
Heavyarms was the only Operation Meteor suit to never be taken by the enemy or disabled. MVP.
Heavy arms and Full Armor gundam were my personal favorites growing up.
Death scythe was really cool too, but everyone I knew was already on his nuts lol

Gundam Wing needs a total remake series like seriously. The story is great but they animators reused so many scenes and its just lazy work.

That's literally just how animation was and still is. You'll see a lot of reused animation in everything but because people are more aware of it now they often disguise it with minor changes.

Though there are many wonderful gundams, Heavyarms + Heavyarms custom were the machines that made me love the series. I do wonder which one was the most expensive to maintain, Wing's beam ammo or resupplying this monstrosity?

Those are probably 75mm rounds or bigger, those rounds don't come I. Belt feeds so, you got to load that shit by hand into a feed tray.
Heavyarms singlehandedly kept the ammo manufacturers afloat.

watching gundam for the first time i thought Heavyarms is the most overloaded gundam
The animated series was amazing but I always thought it had a weak ending. Not the final battle itself but the very last scenes. Thought they should have touched more on Heero, Relena and the other characters as far as what happened to them. Perhaps they showed us that in the movie Endless Waltz however the movie had a weak ending itself imo, but the movie itself was obviously amazing. My favorite Gundam series of all time regardless! I never get tired of watching it.
Supposedly the manga Gundam Wing Endless Waltz: Glory of the Losers is a retelling of the anime that incorporates the movie and other side stories. Example of a change is that Wing Zero is actually a damaged prototype that gets repaired w/ parts and wings from Tallgeese.

Heavyarms is the most powerful Gundam in the series.
It's the only one that's able to make bullet holes _in the sky._ 6:41
It's also the only "Operation Meteor" Gundam in the series that is never damaged enough to be taken out of action or taken by the enemy.
It also has the best theme in the SNES fighting game :P

Technically yes. Realistically no pilot is fast enough to dodge gatling gun shots (like the saying for A-10, "if you hear the gatling sound, it means you're not the target"). You're dead the moment Trowa pulls the trigger. But ofc it's anime so the protags can evade the rain of bullets like they're nothing.

Heavy Arms deserved a much better upgrade for the final act. Sandrock and Heavy Arms should both have had an upgrade on par with Deathscythe and Shenlong/Altron's. I personally think that Heavy Arms' main gatling gun should have been replaced with Vayeate's beam canon, and Sandrock should have been given Mercurius's planet defensor shield system. It would make sense for Quatre, the strategist of the group, to be given a defensive system for Sandrock, so that he can be protected while sitting back and relaying battle tactics.

Dragon ball first anime I fell in love with. Gundam wing and heavy arms though first adult themed anime I fell in loved with. Dragon ball z enticed me gundam wing sealed the deal on my liking anime from then forward without it I never would have seen classics like ghost in a shell etc . Love my anime journey the 90s was so epic as a kid.
the thing I love about gundam wing is its not exactly pretty in fact its dark tone in season one at least made it feel grungy and menacing. in fact I like the characteristic of child soldiers not being stable and even sadistic hence heero yuy being so homicidal and gleefully at that.
because you dont see real child soldiers even acting human because there experiences and conditioning. there usually messed up individuals because they have been desensitized to taking life and doing as they pleased with the populous. gundam wing almost hits some notes of that.

@@bigjed3467 budget, and time frames, read their backstory. This about killed 2 directors and the entire team. Doesn't help that the team was also working on other anime at the same time, meaning they didn't have a fully dedicated team.

Is it hollow?
Saw a model that has a big ammo drum on it's back once. Made sense.
Although sources seem to flop between the two, the gatling is seen to NOT use physical ammo but it is a beam gatling using a built in generator.
This makes sense because if I was piloting it it's good to know that I would always have the main weapon available even when my other weapons are empty after allowing it to recharge, but in the series Trowa discards the gatling as if it's completely spent on occasion.
A lot of plot points and other things got missed out/altered during the making of the series and I think heavyarm's gatling was one of those things too.
@@LeeONardo the other day I saw a video explaining it is a beam gatling.
Which makes sense as either the gatling would e empty in 10 seconds or Heavyarms would be hollow more or less to store the ammo.
Funny thing about gundam wing is that you are not always sure which is a bullet or a beam. The same with Tallgeeses makn weapon, starts out as a physical bullet, then switches to a beam despite no change in appearance or sound..
@@jon636374 There is also apparently a part where Wing Zero is shot at by Epyon despite Epyon specifically NOT having a range weapon at all.
A lot of Wing has to be hand waved away due to it's behind the scenes production, directors were fired halfway through etc so the series is honestly a mess lol.
For Heavyarm's gatling though it's really annoying because it's redesigns (including it's redone canon version for "Glory of the losers" and "Endless Waltz") it uses a physical ammo based type which I find to be a huge downgrade.
@@LeeONardo I noticed that. I read that Zecks had vulcans(whatever they are called) put on epyons head when he joined white fang. Makes sense as a defensive option.
They older I have gotten I'm appreciating how all over the place the series is.
I would have loved to see Heavyarms become Heavyarms Kai from EW. And how zero got its angel wings.
Yeah that does not make sense, ammo storage again becomes an issue. The gatlings from EW are huge but they would still tear through their ammo in seconds most likely.
I'm so confused that you guys don't think that this thing can't hold all of that ammunition own.

Shower Thought: Heavy Arms would be the most annoying Gundam to pilot. All of the noise you would have to deal with from the mini guns esp right above your cockpit...
HA's cockpit must have very good sound and recoil dampeners built in. Or else it would be loud as hell and the cockpit would vibrate like crazy everytime it shoots something.
