  • This is my second video of really working the bedrock on my new gold claim. I'm experimenting with new brushes to clean the bedrock.
    This claim is really special as it has little nuggets everywhere, check out my channel to see the story.
    If you're new to prospecting this is a good how-to video showing where to look, how to dig, and how to pan out the gold nuggets on bedrock.
    If you missed my last bedrock gold video I spent more time here found even more: • There's so much gold o...

    Great job Eric of demonstrating the brushes, I like the ideas of brushes & there's some good ones there but the fraying is a problem, I wonder if the harder straight steel brush might be better, last longer. Also, I have a 1.5 gal. DeWalt battery vacuum, it's small but powerful & I put a nozzle on end with about a 12" 3/4" surgical tube at the end to get into the small cracks & get all the dirt, this works really good & it would be perfect for you and the crevices you have there, your claim has some great looking crevices & looks like your finding some good gold there, the vac. would help you clean up better. There is a gray line about using vacuums in Cal., and i spoke with someone with the BLM one time about small vacuums, & he told me it's ok with him, so long as your not using it in the water or near it, but said that DFG might think differently about that idea, anyway thought I would share this.
    And just a thought about the black sand with the small gold in it, instead of wasting your time panning the black sand out for the small gold, I take mine back in a freezer bag & run it on my homemade deep well Miller table (half Miller table & half small V mat), works great & I think it's best way to get rid of the black sand and get the small gold, Thank you for the vids, sorry about the long info,
    Take care,
    Serg

      Hi Serg, thank you. It would be nice to find a skinny brush with long stiff bristles I think that would work well. Maybe I'll do a video someday of processing a bunch of black sand once I get a bunch saved up. Thanks again for watching!

      @wildernesseric  ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome thank you. Don't really want to narrow down the location at this time so PNW. Do you do dry washing in AZ? If so how does that compare to high banking with water as far as efficiency?

    • @terryanderson3742
      @terryanderson3742 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wildernesseric PNW is fine, I just didn't know if you were in Georgia or Sothern California. I don't have a puffer box, dry washer, but I made a high banker that is 8 inches wide so it uses way less water. The system can be set up to recirculate the water, but it depends on how much clay/dust is in the sand on how well it works. Like I said, I don't have a dry washer, but the experienced miners that are in the Association, say 30 to 40 percent. But they have older equipment and not the latest greatest mine looses less than yours does equipment. Might have to look into one this winter at the shows down there.

      @@wildernesseric I’m a blacksmith and I use a stiff steel brush in my work to clean the scale off the mild steel that I forge. The scale forms naturally from the heating of the material. These brushes are usually used by butchers to clean off the wooden block tables they cut meat on. The bristles in these brushes are pretty springy and flat in cross section. These would be more than up to the challenge of crack cleaning if they were only one row wide. Unfortunately they are eight or ten rows wide. I have 2” and 4” long steel bristles on the two brushes I use most often.
      I was also thinking that the needles from a pneumatic needle scaler could somehow be welded into a row to make up a narrow crack brush. These needles take a lot of abuse. Horrible Freight sells replacement sets in my area of the country.
      Lastly, I’ve also seen some welders scale chipping hammers with steel bristles brushes welded to them to clean off welds. I’ll have to see if they are narrow enough to be used in a crack.
      Cheers!

  • @John-ir2zf
    @John-ir2zf ปีที่แล้ว +2

    If you can avoid metal bristled brushes, you wont have as much of that fraying out.
    The stiff plastic bristle brushes are more resilient to being bent and will generally so back to shape after bending unless you really use them hard.
    Thats beautiful gravel stuffed down in that crevice too, its been there a while !
    I try not to recommend things that are a bit more expensive because i never know ones financial situations, but a small battery powered vacuum with a narrow nozzle is phenomenal too for cleaning out cracks.

    Maybe mentioned before below, but I didn't see it. Those brass brushes with the blue handle they also do in steel bristles so therefore are stronger, if they flay out, trim them to shape with tin snips, or good cutters.
    You can also get some very strong industrial cleaning brushes more like paint brush shape, typically about 1.5 inches width, x .25 inch: these have very thick strong plastic or nylon hairs, they are used where they don't want to scratch the surfaces typically on non ferrous materials. I've one but I cannot remember where I purchased it.
    you need some really good gloves, sometimes there can be some really sharp edge rock splinters - basic rule don't use your fingers use the spike.

      Using the gloves isn't ideal or most efficient, just what I was doing before. The brushes will be faster and last longer.

    Crevice master
    Brushes use stiff plastic. Bristles and not metal

      Sounds interesting, just looked online and couldn't find a "crevice master" brush. You have a link or a different search term to use?

    • @robertcunninghammusic6712
      @robertcunninghammusic6712 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@wildernesseric what I meant was for your slogan don't use the word crack, but crevice instead.
      Separately metal bristles on brushes bend and splay and don't last long. Stiff plastic or other none metal bristles work best. Take a yard brush and take bristles from that and then insert them in a pipe and glue them in. You can push a bundle of them tight in the pipe but allow the best length to remain for your purposes. Pipe length is up to you because that's your handle

    Please use the brushes for finishing off like a normal person would. You got the hook and the did a review on the brushes when it should have been the hook being used. It like throwing a rock at wild boar with a gun sitting next to you and wondering why the rock didn't work. It was painful

    • @wildernesseric
      @wildernesseric  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, normally I would but I wanted to really put the brushes to use to see how they would last.

    Nah perfect timing 😜 anyone wasting time on those is a rookie gold Miner 😂 break out the tools like a hummer and chisels . Break the bedrock then brush the stuff. Brushing the top WTF .

    • @wildernesseric
      @wildernesseric  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, normally I would not brush the top stuff but was just testing the durability of the brushes. This bedrock is tough as nails, you can't really break it up without a lot of extra work. However you do it you still gotta get the stuff out of the bottom of the crack once you have the big stuff scraped out.

      @wildernesseric  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@azadrestore no that's not me, I would not be having fun if I was being dishonest. I did do a funny spoof in my metal detecting video with a giant painted rock(obviously fake). I'm doing TH-cam because it's fun to share this unusually rich spot with other people who are interested in the same thing and know how special it is, not to make money by deceiving people. Just curious, did you watch the whole video? You can see that it is real gold because it is heavier than the lead in the pan, you can also see other smaller gold flakes with it. Also in the end I weigh it out on a scale. In your prospecting have you found chunkier gold like this or have you only found flakes?
