I love how elegantly you translate "trend" to "personal style." You are an inspiration and I thank you for reminding me thst I have it all in my closet already.
LA Smith-Buxton, thank you! I totally agree with your response to Alyssa's video. Alyssa, thank you for inspiring us to look at what we have and rethink how we wear what we have. You give us amazing confidence 🥰🥰🥰
So much inspiration! I like to screenshot the examples and email them to myself with descriptions like “winter layered work outfit” so when I feel stuck in my closet, I have a whole folder at easy access with photos to get my creativity going. I can’t wait for bold colors, knits, leather (second hand), and structured monochrome. But I always dress like that. ;)
Alyssa, thanks for this reminder that I do not have to purchase every "new" trend each season. There are so many items that you referenced that I already have in my closet. It's fun to bring creativity to my current wardrobe...thanks again!
Thank you! Showing trends and then showing how you’d wear them (or have worn them) really helps ME to shop my closet. I DO have enough and you help me by reminding me 💕. You really know how to explain a trend in language I get!
I'm looking at your beautiful fisherman's sweater which would be too hot for my climate until January, while I'm sitting here in my pumpkin-hued tank top, trying to channel some autumnal vibes. That's what I love about your fall trends review...shopping our closet can turn up something for everyone regardless of style or climate!
I have a few wool/silk blend wide leg trousers in my closet that haven't been worn in years. They were too beautiful to get rid of even though I couldn't imagine I'd ever wear them again. So glad to see you break out your pinstripes and incorporate it into a modern look. I'm gonna pull mine out and see how I can wear them. Thanks for the inspiration!
Liking the inspiration given here. I am looking into keeping some summer bold color clothing out to see if I can work them into the Fall/Winter stylings. I enjoyed this video and appreciate you messaging on going into your closet. You know I am thrifter and have gone hog wild but trying to reel this in because of too much stuff accumulated. Thanks for sharing and blessing to you and all in the days to come.
Alyssa, I love how you turn fashion on its head. you are absolutely spot on when you say we all have these items in our wardrobe and all we have to do is mix'n'match. I think you look amazing in everything as your items are carefully selected to fit you!! I just love classic items styled with simplicity.
You just saved me hundreds of dollars. I don't have a lot of clothing, but I'm excited to shop my wardrobe and try to create outfits before buying anything else. I love what you said about creativity instead of consumption, and abundant vs things I don't know how to wear. Thank you!
I so love your style and your inspirations I have started reusing old items I have kept for ages as I did not want to part with them for sentimental reasons or because they have been pricey and very good quality. I now just pair those pieces with current styles an voila getting a lot of positive comments
I really love your style. it's very classy and it's pretty much something that never goes out of fashion . It reminds me of watching women in Rome walk down the streets with their super trendy outfits. thank you for sharing😊
Thanks, Alyssa. I really love your videos. I am nearly 63 years old and you have been such an inspiration. It's great to learn new things. I am not into trends per se - style beats fashion every time, in my opinion- but it's so good to learn how to adapt and to feel good about using what we already have. Wish I had had this insight forty years ago
Thank you so much! I am so excited that I found your videos via Facebook! I am 67 and have seen so many trends come and go. If I had had this information 40 years ago I could have saved a lot of money...and a lot of classic pieces that I have gotten rid of! 😪 Soooo, just dragged out those wide legged trousers that I just couldn't bear to get rid of, and went to a thrift store for a blazer and leather jacket.(which I found for less than $20!) ..both of which I had had years ago, but had gotten rid of. Pulled out a bright fuchsia jacket with big pockets for that pop of bright color. Have always loved classic style, you make it look on point! Will be following you from now on. 😎
I think you are totally correct that styling is the key. You can take old pieces and make them current by how to style them! That is where I need help.
I've been subbed to your channel since you had 10k subs. I'm so happy that your channel has grown so much, you absolutely deserve it. I love fashion but you're the only fashion youtuber I follow, you know why ? Because you're one of very few celebs who are genuinely graceful, elegant and a good person.
Oh my gosh thank you for these kind words of encouragement and support and for sticking around!! ❤️ I appreciate it. I would hardly call myself a celeb - that is my cat, I think! lol seriously though thank you so much xx
Lov'n it! Always relatable. Some don't have the money to keep buying new pieces, while others may have no desire (especially if building a classically cored wardrobe for years) and you help by demonstrating "How to refresh a wardrobe."
I love your attitude to trends, I completely agree it's about filtering them through the lense of your own style. I also have very little rich browns, but would certainly go for greys for a similar neutral effect.
Yay! The legend of the wide leg pin stripe pants continues into the next millennium! Love them and your creativity. Thanks Alyssa! my favourite "trend" this and every fall winter season is cashmere and the ultimate luxury of comfort it brings with it. I love fabrics. Wool and silk and cotton are also welcome in the mix, but cashmere is my soft spot. Got my cashmere tights and socks on the ready too. I can't be the only one who's in love with this heavenly fabric. Thanks as always, and have a wonderful week ahead! Big hugs, N 😊🌺🍂💖🍁
Like you I'm also a fan of classic and tailored clothes and found that it's so much easier to shop my closet than if I were more trendy. I love your videos and I love to shop second hand first. Thanks for teaching and encouraging us to be more mindful about our clothing and still look current. 😘
Yes! Now it is easier to incorporate the runway looks in your outfits! you can mix your clothes differently or wear them differently! This minimalist/low buy outlook is really pushing me to use my creativity and I love it! It is more rewarding to achieve a look using what I have than going shopping and feeling guilty afterwards about all this money spent!!!!
Thanks, Alyssa. Your videos always get me excited to look at my closet with new eyes. I love fashion most because it is a creative expression and creativity is often spurred by constraint vs. an abundance of choices which can just feel overwhelming. Keep up the good and noble work! Kathy, Erie, PA
Watching you put these outfits together is like watching an artist at a canvas--- you curate such vibrance and capture looks that you wear so beautifully, none of which look trendy and overstated--- all of which radiate your flair and personality. I love watching your videos and am inspired by your ability to construct or deconstruct to present such amazing looks. Thank you!
Thank you for this special theme „slow fashion“. It is true, I already have everything I need in my closet. It took me quite a while, now I only buy things that I really need.
Love the video, love your style ALWAYS! missing my New York closet! Spending more time in South Florida these days. Please do a video on styling clothes for warmer climates in the winter months, especially for us snow birds. How can we work our northern climate pieces into south Florida. I’m tired of looking like a “tourist’ thanks you’re the best❤️
Yes!!! I also spend way too much time in Florida and I miss my Northern fall wardrobe choices. One thing I do is look for more traditional fall colors for basics. For example I have a Theory camel colored simple tee that is great for conveying fall without wearing a camel cashmere sweater. I would love more ideas. TY Alyssa, I love all your videos!
Thanks Alyssa, after decades of working in fashion and having a philosophy such as yours, very good to hear (and see) the brilliant way you present it, many thanks...
I LOVE the "creativity over consumerism" theme! I am so glad to have found your channel! I find outfit formulas and concepts easier to follow and recreate, especially since I generally dislike many "trends," and tend to feel comfortable in very casual, simple fashion pieces.
I love your concept of creativity instead of consumption 😱 I disliked channels or influencers thats all about buying or hauls. Like you said its not sustainable both financially and environmentally New sub here🙋🏽♀️
Loved all the outfits, but the stand-out for me in this video was your take on monochrome...the gray pants, darker gray blazer, and greige V-neck. So chic!
I LOVE your videos! I am moving to a colder climate in a couple of months and it's demanded that I re-evaluate my closet, to ask, "What can I restyle for a new climate?" Obviously, layers are going to be important, but your vids always help me "re-see" what I already have. Thank you! Edit: I really like your focus on silhouette. It may be my favorite thing about your channel!
OMG! Flashback to the 70’s when you showed your Y2Kpants! My friend had an almost identical pair! I opted for the red a white check pair! We called them Oxford bags!
Your hair looks so cute up with the barrette in the back! Frantically searching for some on Amazon! Lol I love second hand and my best friend and I have cultivated our teacher style around it! The Goodwill and Poshmark are our favorite guilty pleasures! I am happy with my style and closet since I started dressing for me and my own vision! You definitely have helped me so much! 51 years old and still loving learning what my style can be!
Great video! Got my red cashmere on eBay a while back-excited to get out my brown leather skit and pair them. The leather skirt from two years ago on eBay also. I’ve learned from the best-you! I also scored a pair of red leather pumps which I was super excited to grab at a thrift store two weeks ago. $5??? Woah! So fun to shop secondhand but with a purpose…
I always learn something from your videos. My take away today is my tuxedo jacket with faux leather lapel would be fabulous with a chunky knit seater and jeans. I’ve kept my jacket because I love it so much but it’s too big for me now because I’ve lost a lot of weight. But oversized is ‘in’ right? You’re such an inspiration, thank you!
I just recently started following you and I absolutely love what you stand for. Love your style, I often draw inspiration from you. Over 90% of my closet is thrifted and I just love how much you can do with pre loved clothes. Keep up the inspiring work!
Thanks Alyssa for your inspiración advises of pulling pieces ThatS have in my closet. Honestly I kept them holding, like my JCrew Courdoroy trousers and jackets with the bold colors like ''fusha pink'' on trend this season, tops and bottoms from the 90's thaks Alyssa, I knew I wasn't confused with my closet trends
Love your videos Alyssa. Thank you for demonstrating that the trends are about getting excited about what you already have rather than buying new stuff you don't need. Thank you also for bringing your fresh energy and authenticity to this space 💙
My mouth dropped open when you said the trend this fall is bold colors. I just watched another TH-camr who said the trend was pastels this year! Which I have already seen in store windows here in the US. My mindset is the "F it, I'm going w/my own style," and looking at seasonal fashion for inspiration as it pertains to my style uniform. That way I can stay fresh/current for my silhouette.
Very excited as this is also something I tend to keep in my closet. Especially knits. Although my big ah-ha from this today was wearing men's oversized knits. I tend to lea towards VERY fitted and tailored knits and this excited me to switch things up
I just recently gifted a vintage men’s wool tuxedo jacket to my niece, it was marked 1965 (?) not sure. I bought it at a Salvation Second hand store for $15.00. I loved it!!! During the later 80’s and continuing on, I wore it with jeans (even mom jeans) and a white button up. It is a forever piece that will never go out of style. Enjoy it Christina 😘
I had a black 100% wool full length to mid calf Black Geoffrey Beene overcoat. It weighed 7 pounds. I had it re-lined and slightly tapered at the waist. I made sure the ILGWU was put back in the side seam. She was complemented on it just the other day, someone asked her where she got it. It was from her 5th cousin, works in n Denver where she now lives.
Those leather trousers are lovely. I am a knit girl too! Love sweaters. I need a new black cashmere turtle! Wore the other one out! Thanks for the hints!
Thank you for including some larger size models! The gray monochromatic outfit was beautiful, & you also look fab in red! Thx for the instruction on shopping our closets for trends - who knew?! 😃
I love your content! I’m drawn to your channel because it’s my asthetic and you look me stay focused on the slow fashion aspect. I like to be aware of trends but rarely buy them. I also laugh when someone thinks they’re complimenting me when they call me “trendy” when I usually just use what I have and have saved over the years.
Thank you for your great perspective on “trends”. We all need to shop our closets more. I’m sure I can find several great pieces that fit in with these fashion trends without buying a thing !
RED YES! Leather real or faux and some tailored pieces are great for my classic retro vibe wardrobe. I did get a few new pieces mostly second hand that I just can’t wait to pair with other stars in my closet. Hopefully our California fall will go full swing and the layering can begin ❤️ had so much fun watching you and how you are going to tackle the trends. 🥰
It feels like, literally, the opposite of what Alyssa is talking about, but I had to have that wool and leather cropped jacket. I bought it secondhand off ebay. I love it and have worn it non-stop since it arrived.
I love watching your channel because not only are you just FAB! but, it inspires and reminds me to look in my own overflowing closet first. For example, I don't have a lot of color per se. However I do have a few red pieces and a jewel tone forest green button up blouse. I can't work those in for the "vibrant color" no need to look to buy anything with is often my first impulse. xoxo
I'm here for this !! I have been building a work wardrobe almost 100% secondhand and we have a similar aesthetic. next item on my list is the perfect black cashmere turtleneck :)
'cut out' knits in Canada: hard NO. so I loved how you linked it to the texture, which makes it so wearable and enjoyable. I also have some y2k-ish wool trousers I kept and look completely on point + classic :)
So awesome! Headed to the men's section of my thrift store to find an oversized camel sweater! Always on the lookout for a men's tuxedo jacket at the thrift store too! Love your channel!
Wonderful content, thank you for always inspiring me to shop my closet. 👏🏼👏🏼 I do live in warm climate as well but always want to look well put together. Would love ideas on how to do this with more cooler outfits. 😊
But Alyssa! You do have the gorgeous burnt orange coat that imho is in a perfect warm brown fall tone. Im I wrong here? Thank you so much for making us discover more and more treasures in our closets. I feel rich as I used to in my teens (70s) when I got a fantastic piece from an elder sister or a friend or the flea market and explored all the ways it would make me the best dressed girl in town :-))
Very inspirational. I have a lot of wonderful high quality oversized men’s sweater that have thrifted over time, I can’t wait to put together some wonderful outfits,
Hi Alyssa, It has been a while since I have watched your channel due to work but wow! Seems your channel has grown! Love the virtual classes you offer. Would love to participate but it would be 2 am for me. Maybe next year when I return to states. Anyway, glad you are keeping it real. I had to get away from other channels where I would feel the need to shop and I wasted alot of money. I am on the minimal journey and it is a painstaking process for sure. Anyway, thanks again for great videos and content. See u again soon!!!☺
I love how you adapt a trend idea to your style and your wardrobe. I have yet to embrace leather, but I just got a second hand pair of rust suede pants which also reference the browns in the fall styles. They are super comfy and have so many possibilities. I’m also waiting for cooler weather to pull out my sweaters.
Great video! I think trends also often repeat quite a bit as well. Where are some of your top places to look for clothes second hand that have good quality for the slow trend and repurposed vibe? Thank you Alyssa!!!
I love this content and the earlier videos you put before, where you looked at the trends and tried to recreate them with your closet. It helped me to do the same 😊
Moral is don’t throw away anything as the fashion industry tries to make us think everything is “ new” like leather pants etc when that’s a staple in my closet. Great video. Look the side examples ☺️
Love your advice on trends. I wish you would do a q&a, I would love to know: What is your oldest piece? What is your favorite piece? (Or top 3 pieces) What is a piece that is the most versatile? ( that you can wear spring, summer, fall and winter)
Excellent video! I don't really pay attention to trends. I wear what looks good on me and makes me feel good. That said, I bought 3 items for fall: a grey cashmere sweater for $1😲 & a second hand vintage oversized black leather blazer for $2.50 both in immaculate condition bought at a church bazar. I also had to throw my second hand combat boots away in the spring as the leather boots literally fell apart!! I found a brand new leather pair in my favorite style on sale in September and bought them! I will likely never need to replace them again. That is it for fall. As we head into winter & snow next month, I will not be buying anything for winter.
I love watching you put outfits together! I’m trying my best to learn from you and use what I have. I don’t know really follow trends that much. If I don’t like it, I’m not following it. ( like wide legged pants). Overall. I’m developing my own style using pointers I’ve learned from you. I know my style has to do with cardigans, because I have so many! Thanks for another great video!
Great job of having people see they can shop trends in their closet. What’s old is new.
I love how elegantly you translate "trend" to "personal style." You are an inspiration and I thank you for reminding me thst I have it all in my closet already.

I do exactly the same 😅
Yay for screenshots 🎥
Alyssa, thanks for this reminder that I do not have to purchase every "new" trend each season. There are so many items that you referenced that I already have in my closet. It's fun to bring creativity to my current wardrobe...thanks again!
Finally! I found someone with amazing taste! Thanks for all the classy and timeless outfits.

The red button down and the red cashmere sweater!!!!!!! LOOOOOVED IT!
Love that layered RED look in the beginning. Smashing.

Enjoy it Christina 😘
oooh love that. - great find and love how you'er styling it! Thank you for watching! xx
@@AlyssaBeltempo and it had a shawl collar. It was in absolute mint condition!!!
Fantastic video! I think your blue button up and sweater you are wearing is one of my absolute favorites I have seen you in. You look so great in it.
Always inspiring….your vidéos I mean because the trends of this year to me ??? But you adapted those so beautifully thank’s so much!
ah i'm so glad you liked them thank you for watching CHristiane! xx
Thank you for your great perspective on “trends”. We all need to shop our closets more. I’m sure I can find several great pieces that fit in with these fashion trends without buying a thing !
I feel the same about my closet
I love it and have worn it non-stop since it arrived.
haha not at all. I think shopping intentionally and mindfully is what counts. I am glad you are wearing it a lot - thats the important bit! xx
GORGEOUS OUTFITS! I have to watch this video a few more times as your styling hacks are incredible!
Love the grey slacks and can’t wait to see them on you with red. (sweater, or button up, or both?)
So awesome! Headed to the men's section of my thrift store to find an oversized camel sweater! Always on the lookout for a men's tuxedo jacket at the thrift store too! Love your channel!
Wonderful content, thank you for always inspiring me to shop my closet. 👏🏼👏🏼
I do live in warm climate as well but always want to look well put together.
I’m also waiting for cooler weather to pull out my sweaters.
lovely Karen! xx
It helped me to do the same 😊
haha yes! Those were a lot of fun. Thank you for watching! xx
Love it!!! New inspo for me! Love the y2k trousers too! I think I will look for a monochromatic cut out to to go with mine!!!♥️💋♥️
Another brilliant video, thanks. Could you share how you care for your cashmere as mine looses shape! I try and be so gentle…
I was hoping you would do this video for fall 2021! Thanks Alyssa!
Love your style and I feel better about going into my fall clothing.
Excellent video! You always inspire me to play around with what I already have. Plus, you’re adorable.💕
yay! Have fun shopping your closet! xx
Moral is don’t throw away anything as the fashion industry tries to make us think everything is “ new” like leather pants etc when that’s a staple in my closet. Great video. Look the side examples ☺️
Love that gray. Add a little pop of orange.
I'm in love with a cashmere sweater
Really liked the styling tips, will definitely try some of the outfits with what I’ve got in my wardrobe 😊
Some great ideas to try out, thank you so much lovely:) x
hi beautiful! Thank you so much for watching i'm so glad you liked it! xx
Love your advice on trends.
I wish you would do a q&a, I would love to know:
What is your oldest piece?
What is your favorite piece? (Or top 3 pieces)
What is a piece that is the most versatile? ( that you can wear spring, summer, fall and winter)
Hi Rocio! Thank you so much and for your interest! I do a live q&a in my monthly live shop your closet events :)
Love your enthusiasm and also cracked a huge grin at your giant hand quotation 🙌😂
Thanks for another fun vid. I've noticed a lot of silver metallics in shops. Perhaps a vid on that? Have a great week!
The Elisabetta Franchi show (for spring/summer) has me getting excited about fashion again! I see a shopping trip to Italy in my near future :)
YES! Such a great show xx
Yes! I loved that show too! Very inspiring but wearable in our "real" lives. I wish there would be more of these!!!
Yes I just discovered EF too!!
Love your videos!! Shopping in my closet using your videos as inspiration is so much fun! Thank you!♥
