I got my Mirena inserted three weeks ago. I took a 800 mg Motrin an hour before. I was fine. No pain. I’m on spiro for any acne if I get any. I have PCOS.

That's what I thought at first the six months was ok than I started getting severe migraines ,cramps than acne and finally I got drepession (suicidal) but my doctor would say it wasn't the iud ( mirena ) I was so young and there wasn't a lot of side effects from woman (reviews) at the time so I live with it for 4 for years until I finally decided to take it out my doctor didn't wanted but I insisted best decision I ever made. 10 yrs later I still have some side effects from it like chronic pelvic inflammation that's one of the main side effects my sister in law had it too same thing happened to her and similar side effects , pay attention to your body for side effects and don't wait until is too late. blessings

I received my first iud (mirena) on Dec 8, 2020.
I never had a kid and I was not on my mensies. The experience was painful and I could understand why women who get it cry or decide to opt out of it. I held my breath for a moment but was told not to because I could pass out. The pain was horrible and was told if the pain didn’t subside to take Tylenol. Once completed the pain was over with. The first ramp was so intense while being inserted, the second one not so bad and the third one I could barely feel. I noticed a few days I was having bad cramps to the point where I was in the fetal position with a heating pad. I was moaning and cried for a second and then reminded myself it was mind over matter. I’ve been having sharp pains and had my checkup appointment just a few days ago. I have to get an ultra sound on the 20th to see if my iud shifted which we think did. If it did, I’m thinking of trying again or my options were the dupo shot, progestin pills or nexplanon. My mood has been cray cray especially at one point. Depressed, anxiety and moody and aggressive(to the point where I would be ready to fight). I honestly think it’s from the birth control. If I have to get it removed I’m def going to try nexplanon next.

I got my mirena 6 weeks postpartum. I had the copper IUD before I had gotten pregnant, the copper one is the worst one to get, terrible cramps and heavy bleeding plus irregular bleeding. The mirena IUD is so far so good, at the moment I'm spotting but the doctor said spotting should go away after around 3 months and soon after that my periods will stop.

I have PCOS so my endocrinologist has been telling me to get a Mirena for a couple of years. Hearig about the pain of insertion has always stopped me. After a coupe of years of being a scaredy cat I just agreed to get a Mirena on Oct 17th, provided I get general anesthesia so I am fully knocked out lol. My Endocrinologist and OBYN agreed and decided to turn it to a hysteroscopy during the insertion process so as to include general anesthesia to kill two birds with one stone so now I feel relived. My fear was the pain and having the option of anesthesia really calms me, so ladies if that's one of your fears please talk to your doctors about either local or general anesthesia too, it's a bit unusual but I think it's unfair to be dismissive about pain and there are options, and btw none of this is costing me anything extra or really anything at all either so please, please for anyone reading this always talk to your doctors about your fears because there's always a solution :) Anyway hearing your story makes me feel eve more relieved. Thank you so much! Much love from a viewer in New Zealand.
Also unrelated but I love your lipstick and eye shadow so much, if you don't mind me asking what shades are you wearing? :)

I’ve only heard that Liletta lasts only 3 years due to the how hormones, it is shown in the info straight from Bayer. The other 2 IUD’s from Bayer (Kyleena and Mirena) both last 5 years.
Also I’m sorry that your pain was so bad initially. I think It’s very subjective on which doctor you go to, many of them don’t do the cervix widening pill thing, and mine didn’t give me that and only suggested I go in with taking ibuprofen beforehand

Oh my gosh! I got mine about 3 months ago and you’re so right it was one of the WORST EXPERIENCES IVE EVER HAD! I cried for about three hours after it and like, I’m not really a sensitive person so it was just weird. I’ve never had a child as I’m only 18 but I’m glad to know I wasn’t being over dramatic. I went into it being told “discomfort” so I was very underprepared for what happened and was just doubting whether I was overplaying the pain or not. But I legit fear child birth so much right now!

i’m getting mine tomorrow and have been a little *terrified* because of all the horror stories of the pain during insertion, and even the possibility that i can bleed for 3-6 months straight till my body adjusts. Even the weight gain or acne symptoms. i’ve always had pretty easy and light periods so idk what’ll change after.
my OB prescribed me misoprostol for the night before and a 2nd pill a few hrs before the insertion to dilate my cervix, and i’m gnna take some ibproufen before hand to hopefully prevent any excruciating pain.
but i’m glad i found this video, it reassures me that maybe it won’t be as bad as i’m thinking it’ll be.

  • @DarylBianca

I just got the Mirena IUD inserted today and let me tell you....
It really wasn't as bad as I expected it to be, and I didn't have any numbing or pain killers! I literally was really scared coming in since I didn't take any pain killers, but apparently my cervix was very nice, straight, and dialated (ovulating) and I was lucky to have 2 women take care of me in the process. One of them was telling me step-by-step of what was going to happen to me as they were doing the procedure on me. They even told me that at anytime I had pain, I can stop the procedure. I didn't even have numbing done on my cervix! If I were to rate my pain for every procedure:
-cotton ball being rubbed on cervix: 5 or 6/10
-inserting measuring instrument for uterus: 7 or 8/10
    -inserting IUD: 8 or 9/10
    **My
pain tolerance is very low (I cry getting a flu shot), so this was
actually a tolerable IUD insertion for me. I also think I just got very
lucky having 2 doctors take care of me, which made my experience
infinitely better! I highly recommend doing the IUD since the pain is so
    brief too! Hope this helps~

So I just got mine put in yesterday after being in birth control for 3 years I tried over 5 different kinds because none were right for me. I got headaches, dizziness, motivation loss to work out and bad mood changes. I wanted to try the Mirena so I don’t have as many hormones affecting me and making feel like crap. I was in so much pain getting it in and all day yesterday afterwords I felt like I couldn’t even stand I am so sore and crampy. Today is day 2 I am still on and off bleeding and didn’t have cramps all day but now tonight they are getting bad again. All I keep seeing are videos saying the negative effects and I am starting to get freaked out and regretting the decision. I am breaking out and never really break out and am so bloated. All of the videos i see say that the women lose their sex drive and become very depressed and gain weight! Have you experience any of these especially the loss of sex drive?! That scares the s* our of me! Im 19 and am doing this mainly for me and my bf but I am getting so discouraged and feeling like nothing will ever work for me!!
