- Are you a vendor at a Farmers Market or Craft Event? Thinking about becoming one in the future? Then you need to really think about and consider having insurance, whether you are a part time vendor or full time vendor. Having insurance is a vital part of being a vendor, yet is one of the most neglected items.
Tragedy, an accident, can happen in an instance with little to no warning. What protects you from that unfortunate accident is insurance. Many folks are scared to get vendor insurance as it's wrongly believed that 1) you really don't need it, and 2) it would cost a small fortune. Both of those are wrong! You really do need it and it doesn't cost much.
If you are looking to do annual events, craft shows, and farmers markets, many require you to have a minimum of $1 million dollars of liability insurance. Depending on who you go with, that $1 million dollar insurance policy is going to cost you around $250 to $500 for the year, depending what additional coverages you get. That is a small price to pay to avoid potentially losing your business and/or being sued personally for damages from an accident.
Do yourself a favor and check into vendor insurance and make sure you're covered this coming year at the markets. You'll have piece of mind knowing that if that unfortunate accident happens, you're covered!
