I love the lumix mindset: people already paid full price for the camera and then one day they get more value for the money. The build quality of lumix is really something you don't see anymore with mirrorless cameras these days, and that's an understatement.
i can understand panasonic wanting to find the perfect blend of camera, but i absolutely do not get not wanting to create a video centric camera along side this. maybe they have some insane idea for a hybrid but i genuinely do not get the approach not leaning into video, like i absolutely do not get it at all.
As a Panasonic video shooter, I do feel you there. But I can see why they made the shift. Varicam really struggled to take off once they made the jump to larger sensors, the Eva1 underperformed, and they really only survived for awhile due to the popularity of the GH series. So they merged their pro video division into their Lumix division, justifying it by saying the future was in hybrid cameras. They’re still releasing video-centric cameras (BGH and BS1H, their new CineStudio camera) but their video-only sales haven’t justified more investing… yet. We’ll see what the future holds for them. Maybe an Eva2 is on the horizon. But the largest market, saturated or not, is the “creator” market who prefer hybrid mirrorless. People who buy cinema cameras are a small group with lots of fierce competition.
agree with you. There's always some compromise when you have an hybrid camera. I went down that road and felt like the photo side of an hybrid is good, but not great, same with the video side. I mean, cameras like the Canon R5C are amazing BUT in a real-life scenario, the video side of this camera doesn't perform that well compare to a video camera that does only video. They did great with the EVA-1, I was hoping they would have release something like an EVA-2 or something like that to compete but I guess they know they just can't keep it up with Sony, Blackmagic and Canon. Maybe thats why they're gonna put their energy into a good hybrid.
I love that hybrids are at the center of panasonics focus but maybe offer some specialised versions "on the side"? Dedicated photography or video cameras would be awesome
1: Limited to HD 2: Only internal recording 3: Ninja V is less than 200 dollars more. Same price in a switcher bundle on B&H rn. I almost preordered until I realized. Disappointing.
this is one of the greatest new product at NAB imo. I mean, there's A LOT a amazing new product this year. Probably one the most exciting year at NAB since a long time in my opinion.
I'm here still waiting for the Af200, so I can keep using my M43 lenses with a camera body that has 2 XLRs, SDI and HDMI out, decent eyepiece viewfinder and flipout screen, built-in ND wheel....Oh Panasonic....Thankyou for the EVA and HVX200 whatever it was called etc...But pleeeease give us one more Lumix M43 Sensor cinebody!!! pweeeease!
Panasonic only supports the camera they’re currently trying to sell. The GH6 and BGH1 have been completely ignored at this point. The GH6 needs proxy recording a whole lot more than the S cameras considering that’s the camera that records the most data, and there’s a whole list of firmware requests for the BGH1, but still nothing.
No matter how good Panasonic's photography functions are, it cannot advance into commercial professional territory unless tethering collaboration with Capture One is achieved
aggghh he keeps not saying what resolution is at given parts of the chain Is it……-> …..1080p into the phone, then 1080p to TH-cam? …..or is it 4k into phone , then 1080p to TH-cam?
It would be very nice and helpful a partnership from Panasonic (M43) and Viltrox Aps-C line and Sigma Aps-C line. That the only things that could bring some happiness and attraction to the Panasonic M43 users, having more affordable AF Lens Option from Viltrox (The primes AF F/1.4 and F/1.2 Pro Lens line in m43 mount) and the Newest affordable Zoom and Primes Aps-C Sigma Lenses for m43.
Extremely disappointed in Panasonic…. AGAIN!!! Time to jump ship. Was hoping for a 4K camera … like 270 or 350 THAT HAS 29.97 out of the SDI port ! Why is that so hard when their Robo can send any flavor of video out… LUMIX is nice - but that’s not a live multi camera live video machine. Thumbs down Panasonic… they are toast
Jeremy is the MAN,...so glad he is back at Atomos. He IS that company and it wasn't the same without him.
Love these videos !!! Feels like I’m at the show
Talk about innovation. Good one Atomos, very adaptive innovation.
Love these. I wish I was there this year. Looks like an amazing show. Seth, no one does this better. Makes me feel like I'm at the show.
Thanks buddy you should come through one year
Thanks for keeping us across all these cool new toys, Seth!
You got it kid
Great Thank You. Watching from Western Australia
Átomos have some exciting products! Wish the prices were more competitive though
Thanks for the great coverage, Seth!
Really like theses conversations

Because nobody wants a camcorder. Not nearly enough people for there to be any profite whatsoever in bothering to make them

Deal breaker no recording to external ssd on the ninja phone
& limited to HD
Agree. Why would I want to be limited on storage
Hopeful for all of the Panasonic bodies (BS1H, G series, Eva, etc.) to get the updated autofocus. Plus built in ND would be great.
Sad that Ninja Phone doesn't do 4K.
GH6 firmware is over due.
Why is the X100vi perfect for the atomos Ninja phone thing?? You were kind of talking over hime a little I couldnt quite get why
It’s just makes for an ultra small kit if you want any of that capability
@@LastXwitness Ok that makes sense. Seems like the regular Shinobi is just as small?
We are waiting for new S line Lumix cameras.
when's a new GH or S1H coming?
very excited about the Ninja Phone!
No 4K, and no slot for external SSD
1: Limited to HD
2: Only internal recording
3: Ninja V is less than 200 dollars more. Same price in a switcher bundle on B&H rn.
I almost preordered until I realized. Disappointing.

Do you get unlimted recording using the Atomos Ninja Phone with cams having record limits in 4k?
well I'd bet we'll see some Lumix-Blackmagic partnership , with internal BRAW in their next video centric hybrid.
ninja phone can only do 1080p in 2024.
Does the Ninja phone support external storage?
Some info about the GH7?
But it only does 1080p recording…
What! No 12K, how disappointing 🙄
Need to release a new BS1H. With usb c SSD drive recording, 12g SDI and the autofocus the s5 ii x has. Be the best box camera under$10k easily.

How about some updates to bgh1, the stuff nick driftwood asked for, we got nada.

the gh6 has gotten firmware updates. In all likelihood it's next one will include even more features
No matter how good Panasonic's photography functions are, it cannot advance into commercial professional territory unless tethering collaboration with Capture One is achieved
S1Hii please. i want a lumix FF next to my GH6 .... and then i'll upgrade the gh6 to a gh7 hehehe
Átomos finally did what we all wanted
aggghh he keeps not saying what resolution is at given parts of the chain
Is it……->
…..1080p into the phone, then 1080p to TH-cam?
…..or is it 4k into phone , then 1080p to TH-cam?
Right now it’s all 1080 we will see where it goes

Screw us android users, right Atomos?
Fujinon 24-300, WTF!? haha!
He should have spent more time in Japan 😂
atomos is looking desperate tbh
