  • With the NAB 2024 show official over, let’s explore the best product announcements.
    By far Blackmagic Design stole the NAB 2024 show with the announcement of the PYXIS 6k and new Ursa 12k Full Frame and 17k IMAX cinema cameras. But they weren't the only products blackmagic announced as they dropped a new mirco panel for resolve, DaVinci Resolve19, and a slew of new live production equipment.
    But a bunch of really important product announcements also came on the eve of the show from with NiSi announcing their 18, 40 and 135, Athena primes. Fujinon announced it Duvo HZK 14-100mm portable zoom lens.
    Atlas announced the 18, 135 and 200mm Orion 2x anamorphic. Irix dropped a 65mm T1.5 prime for preorder. Venus optics slashed the price of their 12mm Zero D lens to 1200 USD. Then announced a set of 3 Loawa ranger zooms. An 11-18, 17-50 and a 50-130 all t2.9 and PL mount.
    Tokina added 40, 65, 105 and 135mm lenses to the Vista P range.
    And the Tuner module 8 released versions for x and l mount cameras.
    So this could almost be called the YEAR of lenses.
    But Las Vegas also found itself host to a huge amount of new lights from Chimera announced their tubePRO light banks. Nanette expanded the PAVO slim line with a 240B, 240c and 60CL. Aperture announced new pro apps and the infinimat lighting system. Lumewall produced a new green screen lighting set. And ARRI announced their new L series plus LED fresnels and kino flow announced the club ikon 6.
    But the biggest product news on the eve of NAB 2024 was from DJI with the release of the new DJI ronin RS4 PRO and FOCUS PRO systems.
    We will get into these and many other products and as always drop a comment below.

    The BMD booth definitely was the showstopper. The end-to-end work is really impressive. A purchase of the PYXIS 6K with Resolve included essentially makes the camera a $2700 purchase.

      Resolve 19 has some cracking new features, but as it is in beta, and I am at the early shooting and editing of a feature, there is no way I will update. It is a shame you can't run 18 side by side with 19.

  • @Spidouz

    Hmm… here’s my top 5 (in no particular order):
    1) BMD DaVinci Resolve 19 (as a DRS user, I can’t wait for the version 19)
    2) BMD Replay Editor (I’m not into Broadcast at all, but I’m very curious to see if this Replay Editor could be better than the Speed Editor for regular multicam editing)/
    3) BMD Ursa Cine 12k and 17k (the 17k looks like a huge deal to me, not just for small production)
    4) NiSi 135mm (since we already have the rest of the set, the 135mm will fine its place in the case)
    5) DJI RS4 Pro and Focus

    The great thing about the new BMD EVF is that it can be used with any camera just get a USB to HDMI converter. Also the new BMD cameras can use 3rd party EVF just get a converter cable.

    the new EVF looked pretty nice in person. I remember thinking it could have had a little stronger magnification, but I wasn't really paying that much attention to the EVF considering everything else that was going on there, so it may have had some adjustability that I didn't notice. definitely looked nice and sharp, and I will certainly get one if I get one of the new cameras.

    Exfat you just need to set the unit allocation size to between 128K and 1024K when formatting, to work on Mac as well. Usually windows goes for higher number by default. No idea what number the Insta360 would go for when formatting internally though.

    • @EntrNmHre
      @EntrNmHre  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Ok cool - I’ll keep that in mind and give it a shot with my other product that uses this silly format. Hopefully it fixes the issue for me….man i have been in MACLAND for way to long...

  • @jmac2050
    @jmac2050 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    these black magic camera s are just repackage pocket 4ks processors with different sensors added to them.
    they use cheap tricks like cropping into the sensor, instead of down-sampling, to get lesser formats and more frame rates.
    so, if you have some noises at open gate, you ll have big popcorn noises of the same image crop to 1080 for examlpe.
    Black magic carmera s do have a good image given adequate lighting condition.
    Blackmagic 6K Pro Pocket or Panasonic LUMIX S5IIx seem like a better value than the Pyxis for now.

    Why everybody loves PYXIS 6K? Its old BMPCC 6K but BOX body with slow rolling shutter and no internal NDs... Old Canon C70 has 3 stop more dynamic range on the paper (2 stops in real) and has 10 stops NDs. The sensor is much higher quality on C70 and C70 has AF with face only feature, and RF mount is more capable in these days than EF/L, because you can put AF RF/EF lenses or any other cine parfocal lens... Its no hate! I just want to understand, why everybody are so exited for PYXIS when 3 years old camera by Canon is still much better...
    I understand the hype of BMD URSA CINE 12K and 17K, those cams are really special high-end cameras more capable than any camera I know (BMD offer really special and great workflow for bigger productions).

    • @lfwesanderson
      @lfwesanderson หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      The Pyxys is 2k cheaper, has open gate, SDI, dual CF express. People buying it probably don't care that much about auto focus. L mount is as flexible as RF pretty much. Lack of NDs is probably the biggest weakness, but no new camera does it at under 3.000 usd except the 6K pro. The C70 is also S35, which some people might argue has less flexibility than a Full Frame.

    • @torsrive8920
      @torsrive8920 หลายเดือนก่อน +5

      @@lfwesanderson But you can buy used C70 for 2000-2300 euro. And the sensor in C70 is just much better + NDs... This is actually no brainer. But ok, C70 is 3 years old now, maybe the upcoming Canon R1 or later C70II/C90 will change the mind of those people. I just dont see the reason to buy PYXIS when I have 6K Pro (and also I have C70). Its actually downgrade for me.

      I think it’s a for a very unique type of need. I daily Pockets and would never consider the Pyxis. I could see how a production house might buy ONE for certain shots like a dolly shot with mixed lighting and an anamorphic lens.

    Everyone is complaining about the side screen, 4k 120 fps, and low dynamic range on PIXIE PYXYS whatever that is. You guys don't realize, to make the screen tiltable, you need hinges. Those hinges cost at least $999. Super glue is only $3. It is economical for Blackmagic to buy super glue and stick the screen on the side and keep the price under $3k. And who needs 4K 120 fps or 14 Dynamic range? This camera is made for TH-camrs and content creators. Not for presessional filmmakers. 😀
