- Back on the track...
After regaining the full potential of the A5 (Part 18 - • 0-60MPH TESTING WITH T... ) we wanted to get it back on the track and see how much and where we had improved.
Apart from Spa and the Nurburging, the only other track we had driven in the A5 was Donington Park, so we booked on an evening session with Circuit Days and prepped the car.
It wasn't until the day before when we realised we had quite a big problem with the gearbox! Not entirely sure of the cause we applied a temporary fix and sent it anyway.
Overall the evening went well and was also a great opportunity to test the Ibiza and let off some steam in the BMW M4!

Great vlog series, really enjoying following the trials and tribulations of the build. Very honest feedback, zero bs or ego here. I like that you give a shout out to what works and what doesn’t, honest feedback is invaluable. I like watching ur vidoes of the a5 as i have an a5 3.0 tdi sport quattro but the problem i have is mines just has the revo stage one and milltek cat back exhaust system done and ur making me want to take things further lol keep up the good work 👍

Please keep us informed on the gearbox front. I was told by Automatic Transmissions in tarn, that this is the ONLY gearbox they won’t work on. Took me in the back and they had 6 on the racking. Said the owners of those box’s had to by new ones from Audi at a cost of £10,000. It was at that point my heart sank, after already spending £9,000 on a engine rebuild that needed a brand new block, my enthusiasm for Audi was dented to say the least.
We have worked on a few now, nothing that complicated really but they are not an 'automatic' so we had to learn how to work on them. I'd scrap a car that needs an engine build though!

Thank you for all information and upgrades about this project. After I watch all videos I have decided buy a5 CAPA (I prefer manual gears)...
... See if the clearence is light and the tap is tight to much, because the tap can have more heat and extended more than the case... In cold process stress the case...

I have the same car spec A5 3.0 tdi in manual the car has both engine mounts gone. All garages want loads of money to replace question is can’t I just support the engine from the bottom on the sump with a wooden block and replace the engine mounts one by one ? Please advise

We had an RS5 on the Dyno the same day and this beats it. Should have gone to the track with it!
@@ryanp6138 I'm not sure id trade an RS5 for this, cant beat the V8 in my opinion, however what you've achieved is brilliant. If I had a 3.0 diesel I'd consider some of this, I had an A8 which was 3.0 diesel and it was no slow coach after a remap around 320bhp and I'm sure torque nm was 650, but this shows it could have gone a lot further.

@@DarksideDevelopments Haha, tell me about it, i used to fill it and the clock would say 250 miles, id be lucky to get 200 to a tank, it was such a nice car, just not overly practical! I got to drive one 3.0TDI A5 with a manual and the first gear feels like it's for towing airplanes...
@@MarkVinewood not mine mate... Mine launches very well for a manual. They just don't like doing too many in succession.
@@Lord_Dazzla Yeah it launches well but the first gear is SO short that you could tow an airplane with it ;)
