    It's impossible to drive the 6.4L Scat Pack and not smile like a 7-year-old on Christmas morning. The exhaust note and power are just too fun and cool. And the leather seats and leather-wrapped steering wheel -- great bonuses.

      After growing up in the 80's - and seeing the decimated performance of cars and FWD in the 90's, never would have imagined in my wildest dreams seeing Mustang, Camaro, Charger and Challenger what they are today. My age group should get a free complimentary car from one of the aforementioned just for living through those horrible years.

Factory stock car too....made 426 hp and 424 tq SAE at the tires on a Dynojet. Where these cars really shine is from a 35-40 roll, where the weight and traction aren't an issue.

    The ONLY issue I have with the Scat Pack Challenger/Charger is its tires.. They are WAY too thing for that power. I had 255's on my damn 2003 Hyundai Tiburon. The Scat Pack comes with 245's and needs 285's or wider especially on that rear.

    • @RPProductions
      @RPProductions  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      +Brian Michael Yeah the tires will break loose pretty easy in this thing. I plan to go with a sticky set of 275's on the stock wheel and it should make a huge improvement!

    • @njrivetelite
      @njrivetelite 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** what are the widest tires you can put on the stock rims?

    • @RPProductions
      @RPProductions  8 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I've heard a lot of people say 285's are the max but 275's fit the best.

    • @njrivetelite
      @njrivetelite 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** 275's are a lot more rubber to the ground than the 245's and are probably less expensive than the 285's.

    • @RPProductions
      @RPProductions  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey man I own a 2015 Scat Pack that looks just like the one here, with red seats, and let me tell you: get the scat pack. Everywhere I go (especially on a nice day when she's newly washed) I get thumbs ups, people always stare at the car as I drive by, and it's a damn fun car. I was debating on the new Camaro as well, but those things are just way too common to attract any attention at all whatsoever! Challenger's are just rare enough that whenever someone sees my car, it's always a spectacle. Now, if you DON'T want the attention it'd bring, then get the Camaro. You'd just blend in a bit more. Anyways, great vid.

    RP, I've been planning on buying a 2016 Challenger R/T Scat Pack for over 6 months, about a month away from ordering(May 2016). Your video is, along with Blake's review, are two of my favorite Challenger scat pack review videos on TH-cam. Your 2nd gear pull and statement, "........oh, man, this car is stupid fast!" was about the best comment I've heard. I will also echo others in the fact that I could tell immediately your elation over the scat pack and how you seemed almost hum-drum in the Camaro SS. I really don't think that the interior on the Camaro even remotely compares to the Challenger. Dodge hit it out of the park with the Scat Pack interior, especially over the previous Challenger generation. Nice job, can't wait to see the first drive video of your new Challenger!

      tuberman93 axb the gt may be faster if the challenger R/T 5.7L but if you have the 6.4 SRT The challenger is the faster car it has the higher engine , a better transmission and yes it is heavier but it has around 50 more horsepower plus if you ever have a family you have some space where the GT barely has a backseat so one day you might have no choice but to trade it in or buy a second car if you don't already have one

    I have one but it is a standard six speed. It is the most speed hungry, pavement destroying car I have ever driven. If you are not accustomed to driving a powerful car like this I do not suggest a manual. This is a car that you MUST physically drive constantly. It is not a cruising car. Love it and do not regret it at all. Purchased for almost 32k usd.

    The thing that amazes me about people... this company took a bailout from the US government, is owned by FIAT (foreign company) and makes this car in Canada and IMPORTS it INTO the US, not "Imported from Detroit" like the ridiculous TV ads say, yet people will still buy this "American" hot rod car and still think they are buying/driving an American car. My Toyota truck was made in Texas for christ's sake. Being from Detroit and having lived there in my youth and seeing the TOTAL BEATING that Detroit took from companies like Chrysler leaving the area and moving production to Mexico and Canada, this makes me sick.

    More than a decade ago in the early 2000’s people were saying V8’s were on their way out. Here we are in 2020 with 650hp Camaro’s, 760hp Mustangs, and just shy of 800hp Challengers. I’ll believe V8’s are gone when they stop making them.

    • @SeeFoodDie
      @SeeFoodDie 8 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Gas mileage is really up to you. On the highway you can get up to mid 20's. If you go nuts you will see that dip below 20 easily. This car is just too fun and way too comfortable for the money. Almost unbelievable and glad dodge is still producing this car. Grab one now while you can with a v8. They won't be around for long.

    • @lonnieaspinwall3862
      @lonnieaspinwall3862 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      All depends on how you drive it. I've seen upper 20's highway with my '16 SP Challenger, and last tank averaged 18.9 mpg with a 60/40 city to hwy mix. Current tank is one I'm seeing how far it will stretch, and already at 120 miles on only a 1/4 used. These cars are flipping awesome, and I'm a long time Ford guy.

      Premium gas is a scam

    • @txmetalcobra
      @txmetalcobra 8 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      not if the manufacturer calls for it. Premium is a higher octane which takes longer to ignite and cause combustion. If you have a car that calls for premium gas you better put it in or your going to have pre-detination issues( engine knock). That's not good for the engine. So no, premium is not a scam. There is an actual reason it exist.

The trans also makes it a LOT easier to put the power down. Want control of the shifting, slide the shifter to Manual mode, and have fun with the paddles.

      I own the R/T, a 2015 in B5 Blue. I currently have 65,000 miles on it as it is my commuter. (it is currently May 2018) WHEN DRIVEN CONSERVATIVELY, I get 27 MPG most of the time and for 13 tankfuls, I have gotten 28 MPG. Twice I have gotten 29. The 345 (5.7L) has MDS, meaning it shuts off 4 cylinders, not just the fuel, but it closes and leaves closed the valves. transitions are seamless between 4 and 8. 28 can be done but no city. But it takes a conscious effort to ignore Mustangs and Cameros revving on you as they pass. If I WANT to, I do have a 75 HP shot of nitrous but use that very seldom. They are great cars! The only drawback,compared to a generic vanilla box... oops, sorry I meant to say Camery is it, is a 2 door. Some sacrifices must be made.

  • @krsimpson89

    youre going to want the scat pack appearance package.... bee logo stitched in the seats, and the rear stripe alone is worth it. Also, I know its technically slower, but go with the 6 speed manual. Its a blast and honestly with this car's torque, even a "noob" can drive it.

      sure its on the heavy side but the scat pack and up does a good job of hiding its weight. The only short coming I found on mine were those skinny 245s dodge decided to pair with a 485 hp V8. A set of 19x10 wheels wrapped in 285s on all four corners solved that issue. Haven't got a chance to test them at a HPDE yet (just autox), but even with the the skinny rubber i was hanging with the best of them. Can't wait till april when track night america comes back.
